2019 RTSports Outlook

Carson had a breakout second season, emerging as the lead back for the Seahawks and excelling in that role. He hit the 1,000-yard mark and scored nine touchdowns. Carson was 15th overall in fantasy running back scoring despite missing a couple games because of injury. Carson had six 100-yard games, including three straight to end his season. He also scored touchdowns six of his last seven games. Carson should get first crack to start this year, but Rashaad Penny could unseat hi at some point. Nothing is guaranteed for Carson even after his breakout season. Carson is good between the tackles and also has enough speed to make plays on the outside. He catches the ball pretty well and has the makeup of a three-down back. Carson lacks a little explosion, though, and isn't a huge big-play threat.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Carson might have a hard time repeating last year but is worth taking at the right price for fantasy teams. Carson could keep starting and carrying the load. The Seahawks won't hand Penny anything. He'll have to earn it. So grab Carson as a No. 3 back and hope he keeps starting. He can get around 1,100 total yards, eight or so scores and 20 receptions.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Seattles decision to draft running back Rashaad Penny didnt have a big impact on Chris Carson last season, who cruised to 1,151 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, making him a high-level contributor in all fantasy formats. Hes not much of a pass catcher, only hauling in 20 receptions for 162 yards, but his heavy usage on early downs should make him a big time fantasy contributor again in 2019. Penny is still in the picture, along with rookie Travis Homer and veteran third-down backs J.D. McKissic and C.J. Prosise, but make no mistake, this is Carsons backfield next season as long as he is healthy. He did have a small procedure on his knee this offseason, but coach Pete Carroll didnt seem too worried. Still, its worth monitoring. If Carson looks 100 percent healthy, hes worth a look around the fourth round of standard formats as a rock solid RB2 - although it wouldnt hurt to look at Penny as a handcuff a few rounds later. In PPR, he gets knocked down a few spots thanks to his lack of productivity in the passing game.

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson tallied 65 yards on 21 carries during a 30-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7. He also caught three passes for nine yards in the loss. It was a sloppy game for both offenses, as heavy rain debilitated the impact of skill players. Carson had three-straight games with over 100 rushing yards before this contest, and he should be able to get back on track against a porous Atlanta Falcons Defense in Week 8.

Oct 21 12:53am ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson carried the ball 21 times for 65 yards against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Oct. 20. He added three receptions for nine yards.

Fantasy Spin: Carson's 100-yard-game streak ended at three as the Ravens played inspired ball on Sunday. He remains the clear No. 1 back in Seattle, though, and has a tasty matchup on deck against the woeful Falcons in Week 8.

From TheHuddle

Oct 19 7:00pm ET

Chris Carson is gobbling up the running downs work in Seattle. In the last three weeks, Carson has seen no less than 26 touches in a game. Carson is a true workhorse back. He's going up against a Ravens Defense that ranks 10th against opposing rushers, but don't let that number fool you. Baltimore played the Dolphins in Week 1 and the Cardinals, who had yet to put things together, in Week 2. The Ravens have been exposed on the ground in matchups versus the Chiefs and the Browns. Don't expect Carson to slow down this week. If you own Carson, start him with full confidence.

From RotoBaller

Oct 18 5:43pm ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 18, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.

Fantasy Spin: Carson has been one of the best running backs over the last three weeks and will continue to receive plenty of touches in the offense. He should be a starting option in every league this week.

From TheHuddle

Oct 17 7:53pm ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (non-injury) was upgraded to a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 17.

Fantasy Spin: Carson has continued to hold off Rashaad Penny as the workhorse out of the Seahawks' backfield. He has seen 20-plus carries in three straight games and topped 100 yards each time. There's no need to worry about Penny unless Carson were to miss time.

From TheHuddle

Oct 16 7:43pm ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (non-injury) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Fantasy Spin: Carson has rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the last three games and has received over 20 carries in each of those games. He should be a starting option in all leagues this week.

From TheHuddle

Oct 15 1:00pm ET

Seahawks' RB Chris Carson scored 25.90 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 6 win in Cleveland. Carson ran for 124 yards and caught four passes for 35 yards with one touchdown. It's the 2nd time this season Carson scored at least 25 fantasy points in a game.

Oct 13 10:00pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson carried the ball 24 times on Sunday, tallying 124 yards and a touchdown. It makes the third straight game where Carson has cleared the century mark, and the 5.2 YPC was his best mark of the season. Carson also caught four passes for another 35 yards, and his touchdown was the crucial game-winning score late in the fourth quarter. Carson has already racked up 504 yards on the ground this season, and his 19 receptions are just one shy of the total number he had all of last year. Seattle's offense has been rolling this season, and Carson is a critical part of why. Expect him to continue to carry the rock often.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 5:43pm ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson rushed 24 times for 124 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns and he added four receptions for 35 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Spin: Carson has three straight 100-yard games, and his yardage total has increased in each of the past four outings. This was his first touchdown since Week 1. After some early fumbling problems, Carson has righted the ship and looks like a RB1 in fantasy these days.

From TheHuddle

Oct 13 5:30pm ET

Seattle's RB Chris Carson ran for 124 yards on 24 carries with one touchdown in Sunday's win in Cleveland. It was Carson's 3rd consecutive 100+ yard rushing performance. He has averaged 115 yards rushing in those games.

Oct 12 2:40am ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson has no injury designation for Sunday's game against the Browns, and head coach Pete Carroll told reporters that he's fine. On top of that, Carson will likely be one of the central pieces of Seattle's offense once again. Carson proved critical last week against the Rams, and with Cleveland packing a strong pass rush including Myles Garrett, fantasy owners should expect to see Carson play a pivotal role to slow down that rush. Carson hasn't been putting up huge YPC numbers, but Seattle has given him enough touches to bring plenty of fantasy value. That should continue in Cleveland.

From RotoBaller

Oct 11 5:43pm ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 11, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Fantasy Spin: Carson has received at least 15 carries in every game this season and has rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the last two games. He should be at least a No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 10:10pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson (shoulder) was added to the Week 6 injury report and was limited in practice on Thursday. Carson was available to reporters after practice, though, which is something the Seahawks typically won't allow with players whose statuses are in question. That means Carson should be fine for Week 6 against the Browns, but keep an eye on his Friday status just to be sure. He's been dominating touches in the backfield and should remain a low-end RB1 against Cleveland this weekend. Backup Rashaad Penny (hamstring) was on the report also, but he practiced in full. He should remain the change of pace and have low-end flex appeal in deeper PPR leagues.

From RotoBaller

Oct 10 7:33pm ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (shoulder) popped up on the injury report Thursday, Oct. 10, as limited.

Fantasy Spin: There shouldn't be much concern over Carson, as he was fine Wednesday. Watch for his Friday status, but he should remain a high-end RB2/low-tier RB1 this week against the Cleveland Browns.

From TheHuddle

Oct 8 9:53pm ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson played 62 offensive snaps in the Week 5 victory over the Los Angeles Rams Thursday, Oct. 3. Rashaad Penny played just 12 snaps in his return from injury.

Fantasy Spin: Carson ran the ball 27 times for 118 yards and added one five-yard touchdown catch. Penny rushed six times for 18 yards while adding a 30-yard catch-and-run. It was only Penny's first game back, but Carson was the much more impressive rusher all night and should continue to perform at an RB1 level while Penny is relegated to a handcuff.

From TheHuddle

Oct 5 3:30pm ET

Seahawks' RB Chris Carson ran for 118 yards on 27 carries but no touchdowns in Thursday's win against the Rams. It was Carson's 2nd consecutive 100+ yard rushing performance. He has averaged 111 yards rushing in those games.

Oct 4 2:40am ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson was rolling again on Thursday, racking up 118 yards on 27 carries in the team's win over LA. Carson also caught the game-winning touchdown pass, though he forced Seahawks fans to suffer tiny heart attacks as he tipped the wide-open 4th down pass up in the air and had to snag it as it headed out of bounds. Carson did a fantastic job hanging on to the ball even though the Rams were obviously trying to punch it out on every play. Carson has surpassed 100 yards rushing in two straight games, and he's got three touchdowns on the year. He's also still clearly the favorite in the backfield, and it looks like there's no stiff competition to take the job away from him.

From RotoBaller

Oct 4 1:33am ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson carried the ball 27 times for 118 yards in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams. He also caught a five-yard touchdown pass.

Fantasy Spin: After averaging just 53 yards rushing over his first three games (and fumbling in each of them), Carson has bounced back to tote the rock 49 times for 222 yards in a five-day span. He almost botched a fourth-down TD pass from Wilson but was able to catch his own carom to avert disaster. Back on track, Carson is a borderline top-20 fantasy back moving forward.

From TheHuddle

Oct 2 8:00pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson has been a linchpin in their offense so far, and owners should expect him to see at least 15 carries against the Rams on Thursday night. That said, whether he sees more will depend on how his team's defense is doing at stopping the Rams from scoring. If the game is close or Seattle is losing, Carson has a tendency to be lost in the shuffle for a quarter or more. If the game is a blowout, he remains the primary ball-handler. Either way, Carson will likely get a couple of cracks at hitting the end zone early in the game. LA has allowed the second-most rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs so far this season, so expect that Carson will see the rock when Seattle sees the red zone. He'll just have to hope their defense can hold the Rams in return.

From RotoBaller

Sep 30 2:30am ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson didn't have any fumble issues on Sunday. After suffering a terrible string of fumbles so far this season, Carson and a host of Seattle teammates were peppered with questions about them all week. Everyone steadfastly told reporters that the team was committed to Carson, and they wanted him to just focus on running with confidence, not worrying about fumbling. Carson did just that on Sunday as he carried the balled 22 times for 104 yards and caught four passes to tack on 41 more through the air. Carson looked the part of a feature back, and things are looking a lot brighter now that the team is coming off a road win.
