2019 RTSports Outlook

Cook was a big surprise last year, finishing as the fifth ranked fantasy tight end. He had a career year, serving as the top target for the Raiders passing game most weeks. He was four yards shy of 900 for the season. He had three 100-yard games and multiple receptions every game. Cook heads to the Saints this year to take over as their starting tight end. The Saints have more options to compete with for targets but are a most better offense with a history of using the tight end. Cook has 600-plus yards four of six seasons, showing much more consistency than earlier in his career. Cook has plus speed and decent hands. He isn't going to help much as a blocker, but catches passes and runs routes like a receiver. He has endured some drop issues throughout his career, but has gotten better in that area.

FANTASY OUTLOOK:   Cook will have a hard time repeating last year but should be considered a solid fantasy starter in this offense. He could see his touchdown totals rise a little. He is going to have some big games throughout the season. He could get around 60 receptions for 750 yards and seven or eight scores.

New Orleans Saints tight end Jared Cook shined during the Saints three-day minicamp in June. It was reported that the veteran had a large amount of catches for explosive plays and routinely beat linebackers and safeties down the field. Cook showed that he had a reliable set of hands, something that the Saints have lacked at the position in recent years. Last year in Oakland, Cook finished the season with 68 receptions, 896 yards and six touchdowns. Cook is a solid upgrade from previous players at the position ( Benjamin Watson and Coby Fleener) and should be a good option for fantasy rosters this season for a position that was difficult to master in 2018. The Saints havent had a true weapon at tight end since Jimmy Graham.

New Orleans Saints tight end Jared Cook has impressed quarterback Drew Brees so far during organized team activities. "Hes got great length, so hes got a big catch radius. You feel confident with those 50-50 balls. You feel like theres a lot of places where you can throw it where he can get it and the other guy cant. Anytime you have a target like that, you feel like thats a good matchup," Brees said. Cook finished with 68 catches for 896 yards and six touchdowns with Oakland last year and should be a big part of New Orleans' offense in 2019, making him a strong TE1 option in drafts.

New Orleans Saints TE Jared Cook has impressed his new teammates so far in OTAs, with QB Drew Brees near the top of the list. 'I'd read a lot of good things about him before he got here, but he's certainly impressed us these first couple of days,' Brees said Thursday, May 23. 'He's got a great feel for the game, and I think he's going to fit very well in our offense. He's got great length, so he's got a big catch radius. You feel confident with those 50-50 balls. You feel like there's a lot of places where you can throw if where he can get it and the other guy can't. Anytime you have a target like that, you feel like that's a good matchup.'

Fantasy Spin: The big tight-end receiving numbers have been missing in recent seasons for the Saints, and now enter Cook, who finished fifth among fantasy tight ends last season with the Raiders, catching 68-of-101 targets for 896 yards and six TDs. Slot him on your draft board as a mid-level TE1.

New Orleans Saints TE Jared Cook will be given the chance to show 'everything he can do' for the offense, according to tight ends coach Dan Campbell. 'The guy is over 30 and he still runs like the wind. He can absolutely smoke,' Campbell said. 'He's got 35-inch arms, he is long, and he is fast.'

Fantasy Spin: Cook set career highs in receptions, targets, yards and touchdowns last year in Oakland, and while Drew Brees likes to spread the ball around, he also knows how to utilize a dynamic tight end. Look for Cook to remain a solid TE1 in 2019.

Mar 26 12:53pm ET

New Orleans Saints TE Jared Cook will sign a 2-year, $15.5 million contract with the team Tuesday, March 25. Cook will receive a guaranteed $8 million in his first year of the deal.

Fantasy Spin: Cook posted career receiving highs across the board last season with the Raiders, catching 68-of-101 targets for 896 yards and six TDs to finish fifth among fantasy tight ends. Even though the Saints have a few more passing-game weapons than last season's Raiders, Cook's fantasy ceiling is just as high as the Saints have been searching for a reliable, full-time tight end since Jimmy Graham's departure after the 2014 season.

The New Orleans Saints are expected to sign free-agent tight end Jared Cook, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Cook, who turns 32 next month, had a career year with the Raiders in 2018, catching 68 passes for 896 yards and six touchdowns. The veteran can stretch opposing defenses down the seam and should open up more space for star receiver Michael Thomas on the outside. While it would be foolish to expect Cook to put up better numbers than he did in Oakland, he should remain a strong TE1 option in the high-flying offense of the Saints.

Mar 21 10:53am ET

Free-agent TE Jared Cook (Raiders) is expected to sign with the New Orleans Saints Thursday, March 21.

Fantasy Spin: Cook had a big year last year, and he could be in line for a bigger one in the Saints' offense. He'll be a low-end TE1 in fantasy with the Saints.

From TheHuddle

Mar 20 8:03pm ET

Free-agent TE Jared Cook (Raiders) is close to an agreement with the New Orleans Saints, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Cook is coming off the best season of his career but would have a chance to improve on those stats with the Saints. He likely would have a solid role in the Saints passing game and likely would be a No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Updating a previous report, free-agent DE Ziggy Ansah (Lions) and free-agent TE Jared Cook (Raiders) visited the New Orleans Saints Thursday, March 14, but left without deals in place.

Free-agent TE Jared Cook (Raiders) is scheduled to meet with the New Orleans Saints Thursday, March 14, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Cook is coming off a career year and is the top tight end available in free-agency. He likely would have a solid role in the passing game if he joins the Saints and would be a No. 1 fantasy tight end in all leagues.

From TheHuddle

Feb 27 7:43pm ET

Oakland Raiders impending free-agent TE Jared Cook is a player that the Raiders would like to re-sign, but the team may wait to see what he is being offered in free agency before making a final decision on Cook, according to general manager Mike Mayock.

Fantasy Spin: Cook is coming off the best season of his career and should receive interest from multiple teams in free agency. He probably should be considered a No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues next season no matter where he signs.

From TheHuddle

Feb 8 1:43am ET

The Buffalo Bills may be interested in signing someone like Philadelphia Eagles WR Golden Tate, Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley or Oakland Raiders TE Jared Cook in free agency, in the opinion of Forbes' Curtis Rush.

From TheHuddle

Jan 27 6:03pm ET

Oakland Raiders TE Jared Cook caught three passes for 71 yards against the NFC in the 2019 Pro Bowl.

Fantasy Spin: Cook posted career highs in receptions (68), yards (896) and touchdowns (six) this season. He likely will receive plenty of interest if he hits the free-agent market and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues next season.
