Parkey had his struggles his first season with the Bears, including a huge miss in the playoffs for the Bears that ultimately led to his release this offseason. Parkey scored a career-high 111 points last year but made just 76.7 percent of his field goals. He missed three field goals fewer than 40 yards. He will look to land a job before the start of the season. Parkey doesn't have a booming leg compared to some other kickers but his leg is strong enough to get the job done. He is pretty accurate but will struggle some on longer kicks.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Parkey had his big shot last year and didn't come through as expected. He is not draft material but might be worth a waiver-wire grab in the right situation.
Free agent kicker Cody Parkey will begin NFL training camp without a job after an infamously poor year with the Chicago Bears in 2018. Parkey was signed to a two-year deal the previous offseason to stabilize a position that has been a carousel for the Bears the past three seasons. The 27-year-old was coming off a 2017 season with the Dolphins where he connected on 21-of-23 field goals attempts, including 26-of-29 on extra-point attempts. But things turned south early for Parkey, missing a critical field goal to beat the Dolphins in overtime in Week 6, then missing two field goals and two extra-point attempts (all four hitting the uprights) in a win over the Lions in Week 10. The Bears would make the playoffs but, once again, Parkey failed to deliver in a key moment. With the Bears needing a field goal in the final seconds to advance against the Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Round, Parkey hit the goal post one last time and the Bears were eliminated. Vilified by a city and an awkward "Good Morning America" interview later, Parkey is now without a job with only a few weeks before camps begin. For a kicker who went 23-for-30 on field goals, missed three extra points and 'doinked' a crucial field goal in a playoff game, it isn't a huge surprise that Parkey is still looking for work. This is the NFL, however, and a time will certainly come when teams workout Parkey at some point during the season. But until he lands on a team and proves he has put last season behind him, he is currently not fantasy viable.

Chicago Bears PK Cody Parkey was officially released Wednesday, March 13.
The Chicago Bears released kicker Cody Parkey before the start of the new league year on Friday, according to sources. The Pro Bowler is still due $3.5 million on his 2019 contract, and he's unlikely to be out of work for long. The 27-year-old made just 23 of 30 field-goal tries (76.7 percent) and 42 of his 45 extra points in 2018 in his one and only season in Chicago. He was ultimately done in by a huge miss in the wild-card game against the Eagles that cost the team a chance to move on in the playoffs.
