2019 RTSports Outlook

McCoy had his worst season as a pro, rushing for just 514 yards in 14 games. He averaged only 3.2 yards per carry. He had 34 receptions and 752 total yards on the season. He had one 100-yard rushing game and fewer than 50-rushing yards 11 of 14 games. McCoy had two straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons with the Bills before last year. McCoy is 31 years old but will return to the Bills and likely get first crack to start. McCoy is an elusive back with great hands. He just makes plays in space. McCoy also is a much better runner these days between the tackles than earlier in his career. He remains a pretty complete back despite his age.

FANTASY OUTLOOK:   McCoy is an injury risk at this stage of his career. Plus, last season is a concern for fantasy owners. But even with that said, he is worth a roster spot if you can get him as a reserve back because he has upside to turn things around and could come at a cheap price. McCoy will be a boom or bust pick, though. For now, expect around 1,100 total yards, five touchdowns and 40 or so receptions.

RotoBaller's Outlook

There is no disputing the fact LeSean McCoy had a terrible 2018 season. The six-time pro bowler and two-time All-Pro didnt even beat out his own quarterback in rushing yards, despite playing in more games. Oh, and actually being the starting running back. On 161 carries, McCoy finished with just 514 yards and three touchdowns.Entering the last year of his contract, McCoy will need to do better. The Bills have done all they can to help the running game this offseason. The brought in six new offensive linemen, including four projected starters, to try to solidify the blocking. They also signed Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon as free agents, while also preparing for the future by drafting Devin Singletary out of Florida Atlantic. As long as McCoy is still on the team come September though, he should be the starter and, on a team, who have shown that they want to run the ball and with a mobile quarterback behind center, this could be very good for McCoy.Being drafted currently at RB38 McCoy is a good buy-low option for you in drafts. He is likely a starting back on a run-first team and at best a 1,000-yard rusher with pass catching ability. Add in that he could bring in 10 or more total touchdowns by the end of the season and things are looking interesting. There is the possibility he could be released as a cap casualty, but even this could be a good thing. If he is traded or released he could find his way onto a team who knows what they are getting and will use him as their guy for the season. With his ability as a runner and receiver if he ends up in replacement for Ronald Jones Jr. and Peyton Barber in Tampa Bay for instance. He would instantly shoot up my rankings into the area of RB15 to 18. With all this said, the likelihood is he will remain in Buffalo for the season and be a low-end RB2. However, going off the board at RB38 is ridiculous and provides staggering value for a running back-needy team.

Rival teams believe the Buffalo Bills could release someone from the group of RBs LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon, according to MMQB's Albert Breer, who notes that McCoy is set to earn far more money than Gore or Yeldon.

Fantasy Spin: Barring injury, Devin Singletary is going to make the 53-man roster. Beyond that, training camp will sort things out, though Yeldon seems the most like casualty at this stage.

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane had encouraging words to say about LeSean McCoy to beat reporters. "Were focused on this year," Beane said. "Thats what we have him under contract for, and I definitely think hes got enough left in the tank to help us in 2019. McCoy is 31 years old and entering a contract season. His 3.2 yards per carry last year was a career-worst mark, but the Bills have added some offensive line help as well as more reliable backups in Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon. Don't reach for McCoy on draft day, but there's some sneaky value in McCoy if he falls in your draft. As of now, he stands to receive a good amount of carries in what should be an improved Buffalo offense.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy said he has been 'begging' the front office to sign RB Frank Gore for the last two seasons.

Fantasy Spin: Even after 14 years in the league, Gore can still be a steady runner between the tackles. As long as he is healthy, McCoy should at least be a flex option as the lead back, but Gore and rookie Devin Singletary will eat into his workload a bit.

2018 was a rough year for Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy. The veteran saw career lows in rushing yards (514) and yards per carry (3.2) amidst the Bills' 6-10 season. Now, as McCoy heads into his 11th season, he's eager to forget year 10 and embrace the developing quarterback and new teammates surrounding him. McCoy has told the media he is both "confident" and "motivated" heading into the season. He's eager to be joined in the backfield by fellow veteran Frank Gore and similarly eager to have new offensive linemen to run behind. This season is also the final year of McCoy's five-year contract he signed in 2015, so there's even more incentive for the veteran to prove he still has some fuel left in the tank.

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary split first-team reps with RBs Frank Gore and LeSean McCoy during organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp. The competition for snaps should heat up heading into training camp and the preseason.

Fantasy Spin: Singletary is a rookie out of Florida Atlantic who posted 4,287 rushing yards at 6.0 yards per carry and 66 rushing touchdowns in three years of college is a real wild card in Western New York. If he emerges like the club hopes, it could make LeSean McCoy and his price tag expendable. Target 'Motor' as a RB4 in fantasy drafts, and hope that he pushes 'Shady' to the curb and rises to RB2 or flex status.

Buffalo Bills RBs LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore and Devin Singletary rotated snaps with the first-team throughout offseason practices. Bills.com writer Nate Mendelson believes the competition for snaps will 'heat up during training camp.'

Fantasy Spin: It seems only a matter of time before Buffalo moves on from McCoy, but the Bills would be doing themselves a disservice by not making sure Singletary is ready to handle the rigors of the job first. McCoy is entering the final year of his contract and should lead the backfield in touches, but there's a distinct possibility this will end up being a committee. It's quite possible none of the three will consistent enough in fantasy to be an every-week starter.

Jun 13 7:43pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy expects to maintain a large role in the offense in his age-31 season in 2019. 'I'm a type of guy, I thrive off of having a big name. So when guys come to my team, they're curious to see, 'How is LeSean McCoy? Is he still a good player?' I mean, I'm a dominant player. I think that speaks for itself. But I'll be in the same role as last year. And I look forward to putting some numbers up and bouncing back from that last season,' McCoy said Tuesday, June 12.

Fantasy Spin: McCoy totaled just 752 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns last season. Both numbers were career worsts as he played in 14 games but made just 13 starts. He remains No. 1 on the Bills' depth chart, but he'll be competing against veteran RB Frank Gore and third-round rookie Devin Singletary. He's fallen into RB4 territory but could prove to be a steal at a mid-round price.

Buffalo Bills RBs LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore and Devin Singletary all received snaps with the first-team offense during practice Tuesday, June 11.

Fantasy Spin: It appears like the Bills may go with a committee at running back this season, so fantasy players should monitor the situation during training camp. McCoy may have the most fantasy value among the group but probably is only a No. 3 running back at this point.

From TheHuddle

May 4 2:43am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is someone that could be traded before this year's deadline, in the opinion of ESPN's Bill Barnwell, who notes the team signed free-agent RBs Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon and also drafted RB Devin Singletary in Round 3.

Fantasy Spin: It's not hard to connect the dots, something we noted even after GM Brandon Beane publicly endorsed McCoy as his starter following the Singletary selection. McCoy is older, has a lot of mileage on his body, struggled last season and is owed a decent chunk of change. If the team can flip McCoy for a draft pick you have to figure they'd be tempted -- Barnwell opines McCoy could be a fit for Andy Reid with the Kansas City Chiefs. McCoy is already no better than an RB3, and his situation is one to monitor as the season draws near.

Apr 27 11:30am ET

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane said that running back LeSean McCoy is still "the starter when we roll the ball out." Shady will turn 31 this summer and had his worst season as a pro in 2018, rushing 161 times for 514 yards (3.2 average) with only three touchdowns in 14 games. Buffalo also added Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon in free agency and drafted Devin Singletary in the third round of the draft. While McCoy will still remain the starter, he might not be the bell-cow running back we've come to know him as. He might become more of an RB3/flex in fantasy leagues in 2019.

From RotoBaller

Apr 27 1:13am ET

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is still the team's starting running back, according to comments made by GM Brandon Beane following the third-round selection of RB RB Devin Singletary. Beane lauded Singletary's instincts and vision, and did mention age at the position, a reference to McCoy, who turns 31 during the offseason.

Fantasy Spin: It's commonplace for GMs to back their current starter, but you have to believe the Bills are gonna take a long look at McCoy in the wake of this selection given his age, mileage and cap figure. If he remains the starter in Buffalo, McCoy could hold RB3 value.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy believes he and the Bills will bounce back after a personally and collectively trying season. McCoy had his worst season as a professional football player, he was the subject of accusation in an alleged domestic incident and he was benched in Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: What's more is that McCoy will turn 31 years old this offseason and is over the hill in running back years. He should still be the main guy in Buffalo's backfield, but he is far from being the RB1 conversation.
