2019 RTSports Outlook

Smith-Schuster was one of the best receivers in the game last year, taking a huge step forward from year one. He was eighth overall in fantasy receiver scoring. He topped 100 receptions and 1,000 yards for the first time in his career. Smith-Schuster had double-digit fantasy points all but two games. He had eight 100-yard games and three games with double-digit receptions. And with Antonio Brown gone this year, Smith-Schuster could have an even bigger role in the Steelers pass-first offense. Smith-Schuster is a big, strong receiver that isn't afraid to make the tough catch. He does lack a little top speed, but still makes many of big plays. He will drop some passes, but really improved in that area last year.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: The touchdown totals were the only thing holding Smith-Schuster back from top-five fantasy receiver last year. Expect that to change this year, getting more red-zone looks with Brown gone. He should be a top-five fantasy receiver. Look for around 115 catches for 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster stole some of the spotlight in the Steel City in 2018, and has quickly jumped to star status in the NFL. Seeing 166 targets, Smith-Schuster hauled in 111 passes for 1,426 yards and seven scores. While he still had Antonio Brown hogging a lot of targets, the second-year receiver proved to be a reliable safety net for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. An average of 8.6 air yards per target was less than the 11.6 from his rookie year in 2017, but the USC product was in Roethlisbergers sights often. Now that Brown is on the West coast, Smith-Schuster has little competition for targets. Roethlisberger has a history of force feeding his top target (aka Brown) regardless of coverage, so the 22-year-old will have no problem maintaining a high target total. His 15th overall ADP in PPR formats is right in line with his prime opportunity this year. He would only take a slight hit in standard leagues, due to not scoring more than seven touchdowns in either of his two pro seasons, but Smith-Schuster should still be considered a top eight option at wide receiver.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who ranked among the NFL leaders in receptions and yards in 2018, is now the team's top target with Antonio Brown gone, and he wants to evolve to become more of a dangerous deep threat. Being able to catch the deep balls down the field, those go balls, those free balls that they send down the field where Ive got to go make those plays, Smith-Schuster said. Thats what Ive focused on a lot, catching the ball over the shoulder and being able to be a threat on the outside. He led the team with 111 catches for 1,426 yards and five catches of 40 yards or longer, ranking in the top six in the NFL in all three categories. The big question is whether Smith-Schuster will be as productive without Brown in the fold, but most fantasy owners think he will, as he's going on average early in the second round of drafts.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was unable to catch any of his three targets in Saturday's preseason win over Kansas City. The 22-year-old saw his action in the first quarter before sitting the remainder of the evening. Smith-Schuster is the team's top pass catcher and is being targeted in fantasy drafts accordingly. His early-to-mid second round ADP has the chance to provide great value in PPR formats. However, he hasn't scored more than seven touchdowns in his first two season but now that Antonio Brown is out of town, the USC product has a chance at a career year in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is the top dog in the Steel City now that Antonio Brown is gone. The 22-year-old is fresh off a breakout year where he caught 111 passes for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns. He's been all business during training camp and is working hard so the league knows his 2018 season wasn't a fluke. During Thursday's final training camp practice, Smith-Schuster out-jumped cornerback Artie Burns to complete a big pass from Ben Roethlisberger in full-squad drills. The USC product is typically going around the middle of the second round in fantasy mock drafts. While he is the top option for Big Ben, Smith-Schuster will have to deal with opposing defense top cornerbacks, giving him some week-to-week risk. However, Roethlisberger loves to overly target his top receivers, so Smith-Schuster provides a very safe floor.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster impressed media and fans in Friday's first training camp practice. The third-year receiver caught several deep passes during 11-on-11 drills, including besting the team's top cornerback Joe Haden. Smith-Schuster was thrusted into being Pittsburgh's No. 1 receiver spot with the Antonio Brown saga coming to a close this past offseason. After catching 111 passes last season, and mainly playing out of the slot, the USC product will move to the outside in 2019, so we can expect to see more big plays from the 22-year-old this season. He has steadily been going early in the second round of mock drafts, and his ADP absolutely reflects his opportunity this season.

Jul 18 11:40pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is now the top receiver on his team but still has to prove to some that he belongs among the league's elite. After finishing top six in the NFL last year in both receptions (111) and receiving yards (1,426), the third-year pass catcher is in a position to repeat his breakout season. Without Antonio Brown in town, Smith-Schuster will be Ben Roethlisberger's first look. In half-PPR mocks, he's been going in the early-to-middle of the second round. The talent and opportunity are certainly there for the 22-year-old to be considered a top eight receiver in fantasy drafts.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster is the 'obvious primary option' in the passing game, but the team believes it will have at least nine viable pass-catching options, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. TE Vance McDonald is 'poised for an expanded role,' while WR Donte Moncrief is being asked to learn all three receiver positions.

May 12 2:33am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers JuJu Smith-Schuster ranked second in the league with 63 receptions out of the slot last season, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Spin: Smith-Schuster firmly established himself in 2018, joining Isaac Bruce (1995) and Larry Fitzgerald (2005) as the only receivers in league history with more than 100 catches and 1,400 receiving yards in either of their first two seasons. With the Steelers trading away Antonio Brown and adding mostly perimeter receivers in the offseason, it appears Smith-Schuster will continue spending significant time in the slot for the foreseeable future. He has emerged as an elite fantasy receiving option to say the least.

Mar 10 12:53pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster tweeted 'I'm ready' Sunday, March 10, the morning following teammate Antonio Brown's trade to the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Spin: Smith-Schuster proved as much last season, leading the Steelers in receptions (111) and yards (1,426) despite drawing two fewer targets than Brown, and earning team-MVP honors in only his second season. As long as the aging Ben Roethlisberger suddenly doesn't fall off a cliff, look for similar numbers from JJSS and more TDs after he's posted seven in each of his first two seasons.
