2024 RTSports Outlook

The Jets picked Travis in the fifth round of this year's draft. He will compete for the top backup job this year. Travis is a dual threat at the position. He is a good runner and thrower. Travis does his best work on the move. He is not much of a pocket passer at this stage of his career and can struggle with accuracy because of poor mechanics. Travis has some work to do but the potential to start one day if he can keep progressing.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Travis will be an intriguing fantasy player if he gets in the lineup because of his dual-threat ability. He is a long shot to find the field this year, though.

New York Jets rookie quarterback Jordan Travis (ankle), who was drafted by the Jets in the fifth round last week, won't take part in offseason workouts but should be cleared for training camp at the end of July, according to head coach Robert Saleh. The Jets took the Florida State star as a developmental prospect who can learn behind Aaron Rodgers and veteran backup Tyrod Taylor. Travis suffered a gruesome, season-ending ankle injury on Nov. 18 and required surgery. He rode a stationary bike on Friday during part of practice. "He's a tremendously talented young man and extremely gifted, especially athletically. He's got a lot of work to do for sure, especially with tying his lower half to his arm and all that good stuff, but he's a gifted athlete," Saleh said. Travis threw for 8,643 yards and 65 touchdowns while finishing his career with 17 straight wins for the Seminoles.

Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis (ankle) is visiting with the New York Jets on Monday. The 23-year-old suffered a brutal ankle injury that ended his final collegiate season, yet he still finished fifth in the 2023 Heisman Trophy voting. Travis threw for over 8,000 yards and 66 touchdowns and rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and 31 touchdowns in his 49 college games, so he has plenty of experience to be at least a quality backup in the NFL. The Jets have Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) and Tyrod Taylor on the roster, but with Rodgers set to turn 41 years old at the end of next season, the organization could start to throw darts at the quarterback position in the later round of the next few drafts.

Former Florida State quarterback and 2024 NFL Draft prospect Jordan Travis (ankle) is expected to be fully cleared by April, according to his agent Deiric Jackson. The 23-year-old suffered a brutal ankle injury on November 18, effectively ending his season and college career. At the time of his injury, the Seminoles were 10-0 and Travis had compiled 2,756 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, two interceptions, 176 rushing yards, and seven rushing touchdowns. He finished fifth in the 2023 Heisman Trophy voting. The Florida native played in 49 college games (39 starts), so he'll bring experience to the quarterback room. However, he's likely going to be selected on the final day of the 2024 NFL Draft, meaning there's no guarantee he'll ever see playing time at the next level.
