Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams (hip, illness) is listed as questionable on the final injury report for the game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Williams was limited on both Wednesday and Friday, but he took the day off of practice on Thursday. The 26-year-old has 244 rushing yards and two rushing scores on 55 carries -- three more than backfield mate D'Andre Swift -- and has also added 15 receptions on 16 targets for 101 yards in five games as the Lions continue to lean heavily on their backfield duo. Because of Detroit's plan to use both backs frequently, Williams should maintain RB2/3 utility if he's active. If he's forced to sit out, Swift would have obvious high-end RB1 upside on Sunday as the Lions look to get into the win column. Rookie Jermar Jefferson might finally log some touches as well.

Detroit Lions RB Jamaal Williams (hip, illness) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 15, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Fantasy Spin: Williams will continue to share playing time with D'Andre Swift and likely will lead the team in carries against the Cincinnati Bengals. He can be a flex option in fantasy leagues.

Detroit Lions LB Trey Flowers (knee), TE T.J. Hockenson (knee), RB D'Andre Swift (groin) and RB Jamaal Williams (hip, illness) were limited in practice Friday, Oct. 15, and are listed as questionable for Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals. OG Jonah Jackson (shoulder) and CB Amani Oruwariye (hip) were upgraded to a full practice Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Oct 14 5:10pm ET

Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams (hip, illness) missed practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. Williams is now dealing with an illness, but it doesn't appear related to COVID-19. As long as he gets in a limited practice on Friday, he should be fine to play in Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Believe it or not, Williams has three more carries than D'Andre Swift through five games, gaining 244 yards with two touchdowns on 55 attempts. Swift is dominating usage in the passing attack, but the Lions are leaning heavily on both Swift and Williams without a ton of consistent weapons in the passing game. Swift would obviously have a really high Week 6 ceiling if Williams doesn't play, but if Williams is active he'll continue to have standalone fantasy value as an RB3/flex.

Detroit Lions RB Jamaal Williams (illness, hip) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see if Williams will be available for the Week 6 game. He has been receiving a little more than half of the carries over the last few games and can be a flex option in standard leagues if he plays.

Detroit Lions RB Jamaal Williams (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Spin: Williams has received at least 12 carries in each of the last three games and continues to share playing time with Cincinnati Bengals. He can be considered a flex option in standard leagues.

Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow (toe) will have season-ending surgery and will be placed on the injured reserve list. Ragnow suffered the injury in Week 4 and was hopeful to play in Week 5, but further evaluation showed that he would need surgery to ensure he is fully healthy for the 2022 campaign. This is a big loss for the Lions, who signed Ragnow to a $54 million contract extension this offseason. They are already missing offensive tackle Taylor Decker, so the offense could struggle even more than usual with their banged-up offensive line. D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams are a huge part of the game plan, so this news isn't exactly ideal for their outlooks moving forward. Still, Swift's fantasy value shouldn't be changed too much as his role in the passing game could make up for any inefficiency as a ball-carrier

From RotoBaller

Oct 10 8:20pm ET

Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams carried the ball a team-high 13 times for 57 yards with eight receiving yards in the team's 19-17 loss to the Vikings in Week 5. For the second week in a row, Williams out-carried teammate D'Andre Swift 13-to-11. Williams certainly has a role carved out for himself in the Lions offense but Swift's dynamic talent in the passing game cannot be ignored. Swift will remain the better fantasy option moving forward, even with Williams seeing 10-plus touches a game.

From RotoBaller

Oct 10 4:43pm ET

Detroit Lions RB Jamaal Williams rushed for 57 yards on 13 carries against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5.

Fantasy Spin: Williams continues to share playing time with D'Andre Swift but led the team in carries for the second straight week. He should continue to see a similar workload moving forward and can be a flex option in standard leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 12:23pm ET

Detroit Lions RB Jamaal Williams (hip) is active for Week 5's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Spin: Williams had participated in all three of the team's practice sessions during the week on a limited basis, so it is not surprising that he is suiting up for this afternoon's game. He received more carries than D'Andre Swift during last week's game and can be viewed as a flex option in standard leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 12:00pm ET

Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams (hip) will play during the Week 5 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. The veteran has been dealing with a hip issue but was still able to practice throughout the week, although it was in a limited capacity. Nonetheless, despite D'Andre Swift (groin) also getting the green light, Williams still has fantasy appeal. He currently leads the team in carries and rushing yards and should be considered a viable starting option in all fantasy formats as a result.

From RotoBaller

Oct 10 9:13am ET

Detroit Lions RB Jamaal Williams (hip) is expected to play in Week 5's game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Williams had been listed as questionable on the injury report after being a limited participant in all three of the team's practice sessions during the week. He received more carries in Week 4's game versus the Bears than D'Andre Swift and can be viewed as a flex option in standard leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 9:00am ET

Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams (hip) is expected to play against the Vikings on Sunday despite being listed as questionable. Through four games, he has rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns while also accumulating 93 yards through the air. As the clear complement to D'Andre Swift (groin), Williams' value is capped. However, he still has the potential to carry fantasy relevance. Consider him a low-end RB3 for most weeks, including this one.

From RotoBaller

Oct 8 7:53pm ET

Detroit Lions RB Jamaal Williams (hip) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 8, and is listed as questionable for Week 5.

Fantasy Spin: Williams should have a good chance to play in the Week 5 game, but fantasy players should check the inactive list to make sure. He received more carries than D'Andre Swift last week and can be a flex option in standard leagues.

Oct 7 4:53pm ET

Detroit Lions RB Jamaal Williams (hip) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Spin: Williams has been sharing playing time with D'Andre Swift but received more carries than Swift in the last game. He should continue to see a decent amount of touches each week and can be a flex option in standard leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 7 3:53pm ET

Detroit Lions OT Penei Sewell (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 7. DE Michael Brockers (shoulder), LB Trey Flowers (knee), TE T.J. Hockenson (knee), RB D'Andre Swift (groin) and RB Jamaal Williams (hip) were limited.

From TheHuddle

Oct 6 4:23pm ET

Detroit Lions RB Jamaal Williams (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Spin: Williams has received 26 carries over the last two games and has two rushing touchdowns this season. He continues to split time with D'Andre Swift but appears to be the main option in the running game. He can be a flex option in fantasy leagues and a possible low-end No. 2 back in deeper leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 5 3:23pm ET

Detroit Lions RBs D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams may occasionally fall victim to the other being the 'hot hand' if the coaching staff determines during any given game that one of them is 'rolling,' according to ESPN.com's Eric Woodyard. '(Williams is) high energy, he's a bit of a hammer and I think he's a guy your team can feed off of a little bit. I said that when we signed him. That was always what Mark (Ingram) was for us and Latavius Murray when Mark left us. That's what Jamaal is,' head coach Dan Campbell said recently.

Fantasy Spin: Campbell noted during training camp that he envisions Swift and Williams serving as a one-two punch similar to what he experienced with the New Orleans Saints with Alvin Kamara and Ingram. This doesn't mean Swift is any less appealing for fantasy purposes than he was a week or month ago, but he will be subject to the occasional dud that comes out of seemingly nowhere. Swift will remain a high-upside RB2 for the foreseeable future, while Williams will likely be a steady flex option.
