2019 RTSports Outlook

Anderson didn't have quite the breakout season as expected but still led the way for the Jets at receiver. He had 50 receptions for 752 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games. He had two 100-yard games and finished his season strong, having scores three of his last four games. The maturation for Sam Darnold was a positive for Anderson. This is an offense on the rise and Anderson has a chance to be the top target in the passing game. Anderson has elite speed. He is a very thin receiver that lacks strength and length, but his speed makes up for that. He can be a game changer in the passing game. Plus, he is good at making the acrobatic catch. Anderson will struggle with drops at times.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Anderson has a chance to build on last year and post career highs across the board. He might be hit or miss because he won't pile up the receptions like some elite receivers, but he is always capable of the big yardage game. Consider him a top No. 3 for fantasy teams. Anderson can get around 70 receptions for 1,000 yards with eight or so scores.

RotoBaller's Outlook

The title is a bit of an attention grabber. I do not think Robby Anderson will be a WR1. But how is this guy being drafted as a mid WR3? I am almost certain that will change. Anderson may have been a UDFA, but that's because NFL teams are mostly terrible at scouting players. Anderson has upper level speed and burst scores and was sufficiently dominant in college. He looks the part of an NFL WR2. On the Jets, though, he's the WR1. After Sam Darnold returned from injury late in the season, he keyed in on Anderson as his favorite receiver. From Weeks 1-12 Anderson saw more than six targets in a game just once. From Weeks 13-17, Anderson averaged 9.2 targets per game. If Anderson sees even 130 targets this season, he is going to catch at least 70 balls. Anderson's 4.41 speed gives him splash play upside and his status as his team's primary option in the passing tethered to a young QB that should presumably improve in his second year makes Anderson an ideal upside target in the late single digit rounds of your fantasy draft. I anticipate owning Anderson in a lot of leagues and you should, too.

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson was deemed a 'very pleasant surprise' by new general manager Joe Douglas. 'He's a tough weapon for defenses to match up with, he can get behind you and he can challenge the defense vertically,' Douglas said. 'That was a very pleasant surprise.'

Fantasy Spin: It would be a very pleasant surprise if Anderson fulfilled his fantasy potential finally. He had a so-so 50-752-6 line last year, but he's a WR4 with hope of more.

Jun 13 9:23pm ET

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson (undisclosed) did not practice Thursday, June 13, because of an undisclosed injury.

Fantasy Spin: The nature of Anderson's injury remains unclear, but unless it lingers into training camp, fantasy owners shouldn't be too concerned. Anderson started to connect with Sam Darnold on some big plays late last season, and he's a WR3 candidate in 2019 as the top option in the passing attack.

Jun 11 12:53pm ET

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson (undetermined) is present at the team's minicamp practice Tuesday, June 11 but is not participating in team drills.

Fantasy Spin: There are high hopes for Anderson in the Jets' new offense, and he's a strong WR3 to covet in drafts this summer.

May 17 2:10pm ET

New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson signed his second-round restricted tender offer on Thursday, which is worth roughly $3.1 million. Anderson preferred a long-term extension, but he'll have to prove himself in 2019 again and wait until next offseason. The 26-year-old has led the team in receiving yards, targets and touchdowns each of the last two years. He finished with 50 catches for 752 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games for Gang Green in 2018. Anderson has yet to reach the 1,000-yard mark in his three seasons, but that could be coming in his second year with Sam Darnold under center as the team's top wideout.

May 16 4:43pm ET

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson signed his restricted free-agent tender Thursday, May 16.

Apr 5 6:53pm ET

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson said he expects to post at least 1,000 yards next season.

Fantasy Spin: Anderson has been targeted at least 94 times in each of the last two seasons and should continue to be the main option in the passing game. He can be considered a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues and has a chance to improve on his 2018 stats.

Apr 5 1:00pm ET

New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson expects a lot of himself in 2019 after a disappointing 2018 campaign that saw him catch 50 passes for 752 yards and six touchdowns, down from 63 receptions, 941 yards and seven scores in 2017. He also thinks new head coach Adam Gase will utilize him better than offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates did. Anderson also avoided off-field issues this offseason and believes he should be a 1,000-yard receiver this year. He'll remain the team's top receiver in an offense that should see improvement with Le'Veon Bell in the backfield. Anderson could be a nice value pick in fantasy drafts.

From RotoBaller

Feb 28 3:33pm ET

New York Jets restricted free-agent WR Robby Anderson was given a second-round tender Thursday, Feb. 28.

Fantasy Spin: Anderson was one of the few bright spots for the Jets a year ago, tallying 752 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games. Another offseason with Sam Darnold could catapult Anderson into the WR2 realm, but it's safer to take him as a WR3 at best. Of course, another team could send him an offer sheet.

Feb 27 4:33pm ET

New York Jets restricted free-agent WR Robby Anderson has impressive speed and also the ability to track deep passes, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Fantasy Spin: Anderson probably will return to the Jets next season as long as he receives a tender offer. He has posted 13 touchdowns over the last two seasons and has missed only two games since entering the league in 2016. Anderson has a chance to be a No. 3 fantasy receiver next season.

Feb 3 4:23pm ET

New York Jets restricted free-agent WR Robby Anderson could receive the second-round tender offer this offseason, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Rich Cimini.

Fantasy Spin: Anderson was limited because of injuries this season but still posted 752 yards and six touchdowns. He has been targeted 208 times over the last two season and has become a reliable receiver for the Jets. He can be considered a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues in 2019.

Feb 3 1:30pm ET

New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson could be a trade candidate this offseason, especially if the team wants to explore a trade for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown. Anderson will be a restricted free agent and figures to receive a second-round tender for around $3 million. Linebackers Jordan Jenkins and Darron Lee and defensive tackle Leonard Williams could also be trade candidates. Anderson disappointed with 50 catches for 752 yards and six touchdowns in 2018, but he came on strong late in the year as quarterback Sam Darnold's favorite target. Brown would obviously be a big upgrade over Anderson for 2019.

From RotoBaller

Dec 30 4:33pm ET

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson caught three passes for 24 yards against the New England Patriots in Week 17.

Fantasy Spin: Anderson had a strong second half of the season despite his Week 17 performance and appears to have a good chemistry with Sam Darnold. He can be considered a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver in fantasy leagues next season.
