Player Notes
Oct 21 7:43pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is not expected to play in the Week 8 game because of his hamstring injury.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players should check back later in the week to have a better idea on Thielen's official status. Olabisi Johnson stepped up last week after Thielen left and posted 40 yards and one touchdown. Johnson probably will join the starting lineup if Thielen is ruled out and could be a flex option in some deeper leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 21 5:23pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 21. The Vikings did not hold a practice Monday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen only has a few days to recover from the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 7, so his status is uncertain at this point. Fantasy players should have other options available in case Thielen is ruled out.

From TheHuddle

Oct 21 1:33pm ET

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) underwent an MRI on Monday, Oct. 21, that confirmed much of the optimism reporters heard after the team's Week 7 game. While Thielen will likely miss Week 8 versus the Washington Redskins, he should be fine after that, according to Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Fantasy Spin: It sounds as if the injury is minor enough that Thielen could talk his way into playing, but fantasy owners should expect him to sit due to such a short turnaround time (Thursday). Rookie Olabisi Johnson should get the start in his place and could have some deep-league appeal, although it should be the Stefon Diggs show against Washington's mediocre secondary.

From TheHuddle

Oct 21 1:30pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) is unlikely to suit up for Thursday Night Football against the Washington Redskins in Week 8. The 29-year-old seems to think he is capable of playing, but the Vikings will likely rest their ailing star against a mediocre opponent on a short week. In his absence, rookie Olabisi Johnson will likely serve as the WR2. Johnson, who had 40 yards and a touchdown in Week 7, is a viable streaming option for fantasy managers that are desperate for a receiver in Week 8.

Oct 21 12:23pm ET

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, Oct. 21, but he faces the 'real possibility' of not playing in Week 8 against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Spin: While everyone around the team believes the injury is not serious, the Vikings play on Thursday, making it an almost impossible turnaround for Thielen. In theory, Minnesota should not need him against the Redskins, but the Vikings' passing attack is not so deep and talented that it can just assume it will thrive without Kirk Cousins' favorite receiver. If Thielen sits, it will be the first game he's missed in his NFL career. Fantasy owners should feel free to bump up Stefon Diggs in their weekly rankings as well.

From TheHuddle

Oct 20 6:13pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) said he is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his injured hamstring but is optimistic about his availability for Week 8.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen is a risky fantasy option since the Vikings play on Thursday Night Football. Fantasy players should know more about his status over the next few days. He can be a starting option if he is able to play.

From TheHuddle

Oct 20 3:43pm ET

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) will not return to the Week 7 game because of his hamstring injury.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players should know more about Thielen's injury in the next day or two. Stefon Diggs would be the only must-start fantasy option among the Vikings receivers if Thielen misses any extended time.

From TheHuddle

Oct 20 3:10pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) will not return in Week 7's road contest against the Detroit Lions. Thielen made a beautiful toe-tap touchdown catch near the end of the first quarter but he collided with the wall and was pulled from the game. Thielen had caught 1-of-2 targets for 25 yards and a touchdown prior to exiting. Olabisi Johnson and rookie tight end Irv Smith Jr. have stepped up in the passing attack in his absence. Expect an update on Thielen's hamstring injury following today's game.

From RotoBaller

Oct 20 1:53pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during the Week 7 game and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see if Thielen has a chance to return to the game. He is a weekly starting option when healthy.

From TheHuddle

Oct 20 1:50pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) exited the game after catching a touchdown pass and colliding with the wall toward the end of the first quarter. The 25-yard touchdown was Thielen's first catch on two targets. He did not return for the Vikings' next offensive drive and is questionable to return. Olabisi Johnson steps in as the number two receiver in his absence.

From RotoBaller

Oct 17 9:20pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen has caught 13-of-16 targets for 187 yards and three touchdowns over the last two games (Giants and Eagles). Week 7's matchup is a bit less favorable, however, as the Lions have been stingy against outside wide receivers with top cornerbacks Darius Slay and Rashaan Melvin. However, Thielen runs about one-third of his routes from the slot this season - an area that the Lions Defense has really struggled to contain. There remains a possibility that Slay shadows Thielen all over the field, which would clearly be a downgrade for Thielen's expected production. The Vikings also still lean on the run and will be featuring Dalvin Cook heavily against the Lions' weak rush defense. Start Thielen as a WR2 in Week 7 but keep in mind that his volume (and ceiling) could take a hit.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 10:50pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen caught 6-of-8 targets for 57 yards and one receiving touchdown in Week 7's 38-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Thielen and Kirk Cousins connected on a six-yard touchdown in the first quarter but it was all Stefon Diggs and his career-best day from there (seven catches for 167 yards and three touchdowns). Thielen and Diggs feasted on the Eagles' weakened secondary but will face a much stiffer test against Darius Slay and the Detroit Lions in Week 7. Start Thielen as a high-end WR2 in that matchup.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 6:33pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen caught six passes for 57 yards and one touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6. He was targeted eight times during the game.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen has caught three touchdowns in the last two games and has been targeted 16 times over the last two games. He has a good connection with Kirk Cousins and can be at least a No. 2 receiver next week.

From TheHuddle

Oct 12 12:50pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen missed practice on Thursday but returned for Friday's practice and will play in Sunday's matchup at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. Thielen is coming off a monster 130-yard, two-touchdown game against the New York Giants and will have another favorable matchup in Week 6 - the Eagles were allowing the most yards per game to receivers (222 yards/game) prior to facing Luke Falk in Week 5. Additionally, the Eagles are one of two teams to allow five 20-point performances to wide receivers this year. The Vikings will need to throw in this one as they are favored by just three points in what projects to be a close contest. Thielen slots in as a high-end WR2 with upside in a Charmin-soft matchup and should be a player you highly consider for daily fantasy formats as well.

From RotoBaller

Oct 11 5:13pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 11, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen had a bounce back game last week and should remain one of the main options in the passing game. He can be considered at least a No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues this week.

From TheHuddle

Oct 11 2:00pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (illness) returned to practice on Friday after being sent home sick on Thursday. He will play in Week 6 against the Eagles and has an excellent matchup against their banged-up secondary. Thielen had his best game in Week 5, going for over 100 yards and two touchdowns. While he might not be that productive again, he has an excellent chance to help his fantasy owners for the second straight week. Consider Thielen a must-start WR2 with WR1 upside this week.

From RotoBaller

Oct 11 12:23pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (illness) returned to practice Fridayt, Oct. 11, a day after sitting out due to an illness.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen is coming off a big Week 5 and is a high-end WR2 play in Week 6 against a shaky Philly secondary.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 6:53pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (illness) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 10.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen should be able to play this week as long as he can recover from the illness in the next few days. He should be one of the main options in the passing game in Week 6 and can be a No. 2 fantasy receiver.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 4:13pm ET

Minnesota Vikings LB Ben Gedeon (concussion), OG Josh Kline (foot) and WR Adam Thielen (illness) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 10. CB Mackensie Alexander (elbow, groin), LB Kentrell Brothers (hamstring, wrist) and C Garrett Bradbury (shoulder) were limited. DT Linval Joseph (non-injury), TE Irv Smith (quad) and DT Shamar Stephen (knee) practiced in full.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 1:10pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen was sent home from practice with an illness on Thursday, according to sources. Thielen complained about the direction of the team's offense after their Week 4 loss and followed that up with seven catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 against the Giants. Thielen should be fine to play in Week 6 in another great matchup against Philly's soft secondary, but keep an eye on his status on Friday. If he suits up, Thielen will have WR1 upside this weekend. If he doesn't play, Stefon Diggs and Olabisi Johnson would be the team's top two receivers on Sunday.
