Player Notes

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen had an efficient game in Week 1, catching 3-of-3 targets for 43 yards and a receiving touchdown. Thielen had a productive fantasy day despite Kirk Cousins throwing just 10 times, a number that will surely rise against the Packers in Week 2. The Packers Defense looked great against the Chicago Bears on opening night, but Thielen will have a clear matchup advantage against Kevin King and the rest of the defensive backfield for Green Bay. Look for Thielen to see more targets and lock him in as a solid WR2 in Week 2 against the Packers.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen led the receiving core on Sunday, snagging 3-of-3 targets for 43 yards and the team's only receiving touchdown. Thielen managed to come away from this game with a usable fantasy line despite quarterback Kirk Cousins passing for only 98 yards, which has to be considered a win. The lack of a passing game is concerning for Thielen's outlook, but it may be wise to wait a few weeks before hitting the panic button. Expect Thielen to garner a heavier target-share in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers, and you're still plugging him in as your WR1/WR2 in standard leagues.

Sep 6 9:40pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen tied the NFL record for consecutive 100-yard receiving games in 2018, and he'll look to get off to a hot start on Sunday afternoon against the Falcons. Though the Vikings may be looking to feature a more balanced offense this year, Thielen is a great candidate for 8-10 targets and a chance at reaching the end zone against the subpar Falcons defensive backfield. He needs to be locked into fantasy lineups in Week 1 as a low-end WR1 with a safe floor given his likely high target-share.

Aug 26 12:30pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen hasn't played a snap since a Week 2 preseason game versus the Seahawks, where he easily excelled in limited playing time with three catches for 45 yards, including a nice 34-yard over-the-top grab, followed by a huge pass interference call that helped the Vikings secure a victory. Head coach Mike Zimmer says he "was a little sore" after that game and decided to keep him out against the Cardinals, but there is "nothing to be concerned about." He won't be suiting up for the final preseason game against the Bills either, as they will remain cautious with their Pro Bowl wide receiver going into Week 1 at home against the high-flying Falcons. He remains a WR1 and should be started with confidence in all formats.

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen didn't play in the preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals Saturday, Aug. 24, for 'precautionary' reasons, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. 'Thielen could have played,' Zimmer said. 'Practiced all week, he could've played today but he was a little sore'

Aug 18 11:40pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen was his usual dependable self on Sunday, snagging all three of his targets for 45 yards in limited action with the first-team offense. Thielen made a nice over-the-shoulder grab for 34 yards in the first quarter and drew a pass interference penalty on a deep ball the very next play. Thielen is simply one of the top receivers in the league, breaking out for 1,373 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 2018. He also tied the record for consecutive games with 100+ yards receiving with eight, joining Calvin Johnson. Thielen is being drafted at 28 overall (WR11) in points-per-reception formats and is worth a look as a rock-solid WR1 in 2019.

May 12 2:33am ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen led the league with 68 receptions out of the slot last season, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Spin: Signed to a four-year, $64 million extension last month, Thielen ranks fourth in the league with 204 receptions over the last two seasons combined. While it is fair to wonder if the Vikings desire to run the ball more often will cut down on his opportunities a bit, Thielen has established himself as a supreme route-runner capable of getting open against almost any cornerback. Owners should feel confident in him as a low-end fantasy WR1 in 2019.

Apr 13 12:20am ET

The Minnesota Vikings signed wide receiver Adam Thielen to a four-year contract extension worth at least $64 million on Friday. The deal could be worth up to $73 million and keeps him under contract through 2024. Thielen finished fourth in the league last year with 113 catches for 1,373 yards and also tied an NFL record by starting the season with eight straight 100-yard games. The 28-year-old is an excellent weapon in fantasy leagues, both standard and PPR, and should remain so for the 2019 season with Kirk Cousins still throwing him passes. He's tied for third in the NFL with 82 third-down catches and is tied for seventh in both catches and receiving yards since the start of 2014.

Apr 12 5:33pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension with the Vikings Friday, April 12, worth $64 million. The deal includes $35 million in guaranteed money and could be worth as much as $73 million.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen was one of the top receivers in the NFL this past season and finished with 113 receptions, 1,373 yards and nine touchdowns. He will continue to be a main part of the passing game for the Vikings and can be a No. 1 receiver in fantasy leagues.
