Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard had an up-and-down game in a 32-28 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. Hilliard got his team off to a fast start with a 74-yard kickoff return on the opening kick and went on to catch two passes for 17 yards. He did, however, allow a ball to go off his hands and into the hands of a Seattle defender for an interception on what ended up being the final drive of the game for his offense. Hilliard has 31 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and five receptions in five games this season. He is a low-end dynasty stash who will lose his role when Kareem Hunt is reinstated from his suspension in Week 10.

Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard (concussion) has cleared the league's concussion protocol and returned to practice on Wednesday. Hilliard was injured during his team's Week 1 loss to the Tennessee Titans and was not able to play in Week 2. He is expected to return to the passing down role in the Cleveland offense, although he may have to split touches with D'Ernest Johnson, who filled in well while Hilliard was out. Neither amounts to much more than a handcuff to Nick Chubb in fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard (concussion) missed practice all week and has been ruled out for Monday night against the Jets. With Hilliard out, D'Ernest Johnson will be the direct backup to Nick Chubb on Monday, but Johnson won't have any standalone fantasy value. Chubb should see plenty of touches and is a definite RB1 in the matchup with Gang Green.

Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard (concussion) is out of practice for the second straight day on Friday. It's not looking good for Hilliard playing on Monday night against the Jets, but he still has a little more time to get cleared this weekend. The backup to Nick Chubb vultured a touchdown in Week 1, but he saw very little touches and won't have any standalone value in fantasy unless Chubb suffers an injury. If he's not cleared by Monday night, D'Ernest Johnson would serve as Chubb's backup against Gang Green.

Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard (concussion) is not practicing on Thursday. Hilliard vultured a touchdown from Nick Chubb in the Week 1 loss to the Titans but was injured shortly thereafter. It's not looking promising for his status heading into Monday night's matchup with the Jets. If he's unable to play in Week 2, D'Ernest Johnson would be Chubb's backup. Neither Hilliard nor Johnson have standalone fantasy value while Chubb is healthy.

Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard (concussion) is not practicing on Tuesday. Hilliard will be in the concussion protocol this week, but he has a little extra time with the team not playing until Monday night. The 24-year-old vultured a touchdown from Nick Chubb on his lone carry in the Week 1 loss to the Titans and also caught one pass for 14 yards. He doesn't have any standalone fantasy value behind Chubb if he returns to face the Jets on Monday night. If Hilliard is inactive, D'Ernest Johnson would back up Chubb.

Sep 8 3:30pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard (concussion) is being evaluated for a concussion in Week 1 against the Titans. Hilliard rushed for a four-yard touchdown early in this game while also catching one of two targets for a 14-yard gain. Unless Nick Chubb is injured in the first half of the season, Hilliard is unlikely to have any standalone fantasy value. Kareem Hunt is expected to return from his suspension at midseason and be the primary backup to Chubb.

Aug 30 6:10am ET

Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard turned in a big game in his team's preseason finale against the Detroit Lions on Thursday. Hilliard carried the ball 12 times for 65 yards and added two receptions for 13 yards and a touchdown. With none of the starters playing, Hilliard got the chance to start and he racked up the touches. Hilliard will open the season as a breather back behind starter Nick Chubb. He does not need to be drafted in regular leagues but he is an interesting stash in deeper dynasty formats.

Aug 9 12:10am ET

Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard carried the ball nine times for 20 yards and caught 3-of-7 targets for 34 yards in a 30-10 win over Washington in Thursday's preseason opener. While Hilliard's usage in the passing game was encouraging, he did lose a fumble during the game. The second-year running back was thrust into a bigger role earlier in the day on Thursday when the Browns traded Duke Johnson to the Houston Texans. Hilliard has an excellent shot at winning the third-down role behind Nick Chubb while Kareem Hunt is suspended, but he will need to do a better job hanging onto the football. Expect to see a lot more of Hilliard in preseason Week 2 when Cleveland takes on the Indianapolis Colts.

May 30 5:20pm ET

Cleveland Browns running backs coach Stump Mitchell said that running back Dontrell Hilliard is making an impression in offseason workouts in the absence of Duke Johnson. Hilliard could be the bridge to suspended running back Kareem Hunt behind Nick Chubb if Johnson is traded. Hilliard was an undrafted rookie in 2018 and had zero carries and nine receptions in his first year. With several players sitting out organized team activities, Hilliard has played some receiver as well and has impressed. Hilliard's 2019 fantasy value will depend on what happens with Johnson, but if Johnson isn't in the picture, Hilliard could be a PPR sleeper behind Chubb in the backfield to begin the season.
