Playoff Week 4 |
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald (concussion) left Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals for further testing and is listed as questionable to return. The 29-year-old caught his only target for three yards in the game, which is a disappointing performance against the defense who has allowed 13 touchdowns to tight ends. It will be interesting to see if he passes protocol before next Sunday's game against the Bills, where he would likely be a non-fantasy factor.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald has been quiet this season, not eclipsing over 40 yards receiving in any one game and catching just three touchdowns. However, if there was ever a breakout game, it would be the Week 14 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. They house the worst defense to opposing tight ends, as they've allowed 978 yards and 13 touchdowns to the position, which is far-and-away more than any other team in the league. He has great DFS value and is in a great spot to post TE1 numbers.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 6, and is not on the injury report for Week 14.
Fantasy Spin: McDonald has caught at least five passes in only two games this season but will have a favorable matchup this week. He could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) was unable to practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 14 versus the Arizona Cardinals. RB James Conner (shoulder) was limited in practice all week and has also been ruled out. LB Mark Barron (knee, non-injury) was limited Friday, Dec. 6, but no longer appears on the injury report. WR Diontae Johnson (illness), TE Vance McDonald (non-injury) and OG Ramon Foster (non-injury) practiced in full Friday and also have been removed from the injury report.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 5.
Fantasy Spin: McDonald has been targeted seven times in three of the last five games but has posted 33 yards or less in each of those games. He will have a favorable matchup this week but probably should only be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (non-injury) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Fantasy Spin: McDonald hasn't found the end zone since Week 9, and he has just three scores on the year. He's totaled just four targets over his last two games and isn't a reliable option.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald posted three grabs for 21 yards on three targets in Week 13 against the Cleveland Browns.
Fantasy Spin: McDonald wasn't terribly busy in Week 13, but he is worth a look in Week 14 on the road against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cards have had issues stopping opposing tight ends all season.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald caught all three of his targets for 21 yards in the Week 13 victory over the Browns. After the near goose egg a week ago, McDonald put up a modest stat line on Sunday. Hes now caught at least three passes in five of the last six games, but has just one touchdown to show for it. McDonald is a touchdown-dependent option with TE1 upside in most weeks, but hell have an especially strong matchup in Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals, who have given up the most touchdowns to tight ends this season.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald didn't do much against the Bengals last Sunday, finishing things up with just one catch (one target) for one yard. McDonald was targeted at least seven times in his previous three games heading into Week 12, so it is possible that he gets more attention against the Browns in Week 13, especially with the team being without JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion/knee) and potentially James Conner (shoulder). With so many unreliable options at the tight end position in 2019, it would be acceptable to take a chance on the 29-year-old against Cleveland in deeper formats.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald managed just one catch for one yard on one target in Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Fantasy Spin: McDonald didn't take advantage of the absence of JuJu Smith-Schuster. The Steelers pass game struggled, and head coach Mike Tomlin made a change to Devlin Hodges midway through the game. McDonald should be treated more as a TE2 heading into Week 13 against the Cleveland Browns.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald caught his only target for a single yard in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Bengals. McDonald was a total non-factor in the offense, especially with the team adopting a run-heavy gameplan. While many drafted him expecting a TE1 return, the 29-year-old hasn't totaled more than 40 yards once all season. McDonald will be a touchdown-dependent dart throw in Week 13 against the Browns.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald has a great matchup in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. With James Conner (shoulder) and JuJu Smith-Schuster listed as out for the game, McDonald is the most experienced pass catcher remaining on offense. He's been targeted seven times in each of the last three games, and while he hauled in just 11 of those, he's also tallied 81 yards and a touchdown. Against Cincy, McDonald will face an offense that has allowed a league-high 9.75 yards per target. He should be able to receive enough work to return TE1 numbers.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 22, and is not on the injury report for Week 12.
Fantasy Spin: McDonald may see more targets in the passing game in Week 12 with JuJu Smith-Schuster ruled out. He has a chance be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues because of the favorable matchup.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion, knee) and RB James Conner (shoulder) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals. CB Artie Burns (knee) was upgraded to a full practice Friday, Nov. 22, but is listed as doubtful. WR Diontae Johnson (concussion), RB Benny Snell (knee), LB Olasunkanmi Adeniyi (concussion), TE Nick Vannett (illness), TE Vance McDonald (non-injury), LB Mark Barron (non-injury), LB Bud Dupree (triceps) and OG Ramon Foster (non-injury) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. C Maurkice Pouncey (non-injury) was not given a practice designation Friday and has also been removed from the injury report, although he will be suspended for the game.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 21.
Fantasy Spin: McDonald may have a bigger role in the passing game this week if JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson are not able to play. He will have a favorable matchup and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some fantasy leagues.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Fantasy Spin: McDonald should return to practice later in the week and may have a big part in the passing game this week because of the injuries at receiver. Fantasy players in deeper leagues could consider McDonald a low-end No. 1 tight end because of the matchup.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald caught three passes for 33 yards on Thursday during the loss to the Cleveland Browns. McDonald led the team with seven targets on the night after James Conner (shoulder), Diontae Johnson (concussion), and JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion) all suffered injuries. McDonald, who has been targeted 21 times over the last three games, could be more involved against the Bengals in Week 12 if any one of those three mentioned aren't able to go. Keep on an eye on things heading into next Sunday's matchup with Cincy.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald caught three passes for 33 yards on Thursday, Nov. 14, against the Cleveland Browns.
Fantasy Spin: McDonald entered 2019 as a top-10 tight end, but he hasn't topped 40 yards receiving in a game this season. Any optimism that was generated by him catching two TDs in Mason Rudolph's first game petered out long ago, and McDonald isn't worth owning outside of deep leagues.
From TheHuddle
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald has a solid matchup against the Cleveland Brown for Thursday Night Football in Week 11. After totaling just 11 yards on three receptions a week ago, McDonald has now been targeted 18 times over his last three games. The Browns have allowed five touchdowns to tight ends this season, so the 29-year-old is in a spot to add to that total. The Steelers are in need of playmakers around the red zone, so look for Mason Rudolph to continue looking McDonald's way. View him as a touchdown-dependent TE1 in this matchup.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald was targeted seven times in Sunday's win over the Rams, but he was only able to corral three of them for a mild 11 yards. After hauling in his third touchdown in Week 9, McDonald wasn't in such a position against the Rams. However, Sunday marked back-to-back week's of seven targets so he is clearly still getting his chances within the offense. In Week 11, the Steelers take on the Browns who have allowed five touchdowns to tight ends this season which gives McDonald a chance to have a solid fantasy day as a low-end TE1.
