Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin) has been ruled out for Week 7 against the Titans. Badgley has returned to practice but isn't yet ready to make his season debut. The Chargers will continue to roll with rookie Chase McLaughlin as their kicker, but he's been predictably inconsistent and should be avoided for fantasy purposes. There's a chance that Badgley will be able to make his season debut in Week 8 if he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

Oct 18 8:40pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin) practiced in full the last two days and is listed as questionable for Week 7 against the Titans. Badgley has been out all season but looks to have a good chance to make his season debut on the road in Tennessee. As usual, the Bolts have had a nightmare on special teams in the kicking game this year and were using their punter, Ty Long, for field-goal duties earlier this year with Badgley sidelined. They've been using rookie Chase McLaughlin in recent weeks, but he's predictably been unreliable in the kicking game. The Chargers will give Badgley a shot to win his job back, but he should be avoided in fantasy for the time being if he's active.

Sep 27 2:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams (back), running back Justin Jackson (calf) and kicker Michael Badgley (groin) have all been ruled out for Week 4 against the Dolphins. With Williams out and Travis Benjamin (hip) doubtful to play, Keenan Allen, Dontrelle Inman and Geremy Davis will fill out three-receiver sets. Allen should continue to be peppered with targets all game, although Inman has some sleeper appeal in deep leagues and DFS. Melvin Gordon is unlikely to be active after just ending his holdout, so Austin Ekeler will handle a gigantic workload in a great matchup. He's an elite RB1 in his last week as the lead back. Badgley has yet to play this year and is well off the fantasy radar. Ty Long will continue to handle kicking duties, but he's still not fantasy relevant even in a game in which the Chargers should put up plenty of points.

Sep 20 4:20pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin) is questionable to play in Week 3 against the Texans. Badgley practiced this week and looks to be on the verge of making his season debut. The Bolts need him, too, as Ty Long hasn't been good filling in the last two weeks. Badgley has the skills to lock it down for the Chargers at the kicking position, but fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach for the time being. If he plays and makes it through the entire game this Sunday, he'll be on the streaming radar for Week 4.

Sep 19 10:20pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin) was a full participant in practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. After missing the first two games of the season, it looks like Badgley has a good chance to make his season debut in Week 3 against the Texans. He's trending upwards as a fantasy booter, but we'd recommend a wait-and-see approach until he proves his health. The Bolts are hoping he's back full time, as they can't afford anymore special teams miscues that cost them wins. When Badgley is healthy, he can be a decent streaming option in good matchups.

Sep 18 8:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen (knee) and kicker Michael Badgley (groin) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Allen should be fine to play in Week 3 against the Texans against a secondary that consistently gets burned deep. The Chargers top wideout ranks third in the NFL after two games with 25 total targets. Allen is a top-five fantasy receiver this Sunday. Badgley has yet to kick in a game this year but is getting closer to making his season debut. He can't be trusted in fantasy until he proves his health. Ty Long has been filling in but has made just two of his four field-goal attempts, including two big misses in the Week 2 loss to the Lions.

Sep 15 5:00am ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin) is not expected to play against the Detroit Lions. Badgley did practice throughout the week, and despite feeling good, he likely won't be available in Week 2, leaving punter Ty Long to handle the kicking duties once again. Long went 1-for-1 with three extra points against the Colts but shouldn't be considered a reliable fantasy option on Sunday.

Sep 14 2:30pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley remains questionable heading into Week 2 due to his groin injury. Badgley suffered the injury on the Friday before the team's first game of the season, forcing punter Ty Long to have to fill in for him. Long did an admirable job, but the team would certainly rather have Badgley back. The good news is Badgley did practice all week, so it seems like he's got a solid chance at playing. Obviously, if he doesn't, fantasy owners should avoid Long. If Badgley can return, he's a solid kicker in all leagues.

Sep 13 3:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin), who is questionable for Week 2 against the Lions, did some kicking on Friday and felt good. However, he wants to make sure his groin injury won't linger. The matchup in Detroit is a good one, but fantasy owners can't trust Badgley until he proves his health in a game after missing Week 1. Ty Long would handle the kicking duties again if Badgley can't go, but he's not a fantasy option.

Sep 11 8:30pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin) was limited in practice on Wednesday after being inactive in the season opener against the Colts. Badgley is shaping up to be questionable for Week 2 against the Lions, so he'll once again be a very risky fantasy option. If he sits out his second straight game, Ty Long should once again take care of the kicking duties, but he's not on the fantasy radar. Even if Badgley plays, he's one to fade with the Bolts missing tight end Hunter Henry (knee) and possibly wide receiver Mike Williams (knee).

Sep 8 12:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin), who was listed as doubtful for Week 1 against the Colts, will not play on Sunday, according to a source. Ty Long will do the kicking in the season opener, but he shouldn't be in any fantasy lineups. When healthy, Badgley is in the discussion as a starting fantasy kicker for a potent Chargers offense, but it's unknown how long this injury might keep him out. It's a significant downgrade to LA's special teams unit.

Sep 8 12:00pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin) has been downgraded to doubtful for Week 1 against the Colts on Sunday. Badgley injured himself in practice this week and is likely to sit out of the season opener. It's a tough break for a kicker that really established himself on a team that had been consistently hurt at the position by inconsistency in recent years. Ty Long is expected to handle the kicking duties on Sunday, but he's not a reliable fantasy option to begin the regular season. Make sure you replace Badgley if he was set to be in your lineup.

Sep 6 3:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley (groin) injured himself in practice on Friday and is questionable for Week 1 against the Colts on Sunday. Badgley turned into a fantasy relevant kicker last year for a team had struggled for years to figure out their kicking situation. It's a tough start for the Bolts special teams, but Badgley still has a shot to suit up. If you own Badgley in fantasy, you'll need to look elsewhere in case he is inactive for the regular season opener. The Chargers play an afternoon game on Sunday, too, giving you even more of a reason to pick up another kicker.

Aug 19 2:10pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Michael Badgley kept up the good work in the team's second preseason game as he drilled a pair of extra points and a 32-yard field goal. Badgley already has the job won and appears to be the answer to the Chargers' years-long kicking woes. He's also openly spoken to the media about the fact that even though it's his job with no other competition around, he continues to focus on improving because he doesn't want to let his renowned teammates down. Badgley should be a consistent performer on the kicking front this season as LA is expected to have a strong offense.

From RotoBaller

Aug 17 12:40pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Mike Badgley sprung on the scene last season to snag the job and ran with it. Now, he's hoping nobody talks about him. Badgley told reporters this week that while he doesn't have any specific competition in camp, he still feels like he's proving something every time he kicks because veterans like Philip Rivers, Mike Pouncey, and Thomas Davis are watching. With that kind of pressure on himself, he noted that ideally, nobody will have to talk about him. They'll just know that he's going to do his job. With an offense that is already being affected by a holdout and an injury amongst top skill players, expect Badgley to get plenty of opportunities this season.
