Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny played only two offensive snaps in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens, compared to 64 snaps for Chris Carson. When asked about Penny's lack of playing time, head coach Pete Carroll 'it just worked out that way.'
Fantasy Spin: This is another example in which it is hard to take Carroll at his word since Carson amassed only 74 total yards on 24 touches. It will also lead skeptics to believe Penny is on the verge of getting traded, which would also be a poor decision considering how prone Carson is to injury given his physical style. Penny's fantasy owners have little choice but to wait this thing out, as he possesses the same kind of upside as Carson if he gets a chance to be a featured back.
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny did not get a single touch during a 30-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7. Penny missed Week 6 due to a hamstring injury but was a full participant in practice ahead of the game against the Ravens. Chris Carson is unquestionably the feature back in the offense, and Penny is nothing more than a handcuff. He can be ignored in all formats going into Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (hamstring) is not listed on the initial injury report for Week 7 against the Ravens. It's a bit of a surprise after Penny was inactive in Week 6 against the Browns. He should return to being a change-of-pace back behind workhorse Chris Carson. Now that Carson's fumbling issues are a thing of the past for now, Penny should just be fighting for scraps in the passing game, making him a low-end RB3/flex in PPR leagues. C.J. Prosise should go back to being No. 3 on the depth chart.
Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) should be a full participant during practice Wednesday, Oct. 16, according to head coach Pete Carroll.
Fantasy Spin: Penny was held out of the Week 6 game but likely will be available for Week 7. He will receive a handful of carries if he plays but may only be a flex option in deeper leagues because of the matchup.
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (hamstring) is ruled out for Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. The 23-year-old has now missed three games this year with the injury and will likely carry a questionable tag heading into next week. Penny's absence will mean more touches for starter Chris Carson. C.J. Prosise will backup Carson but won't do enough to have fantasy value. Carson is an elite RB1.
Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 6 game.
The Seattle Seahawks have declared CB Akeem King, OT Duane Brown, WR John Ursua, WR Gary Jennings, DL Branden Jackson, RB Rashaad Penny and OG D.J. Fluker inactive for Week 6.
Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 11, but is listed as questionable for Week 6.
Fantasy Spin: Penny should be able to play this week despite the injury and will have a decent role in the offense. He has been held in check in two of his three games this season and probably can be avoided in most leagues.
Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson (shoulder) was taken off the final injury report for Week 6 against the Browns, while backup Rashaad Penny (hamstring) is listed as questionable. Carson continues to carry the load for the team's backfield despite some fumbling issues to start the year. In a run-first offense against a vulnerable Cleveland rush defense, Carson should be locked in as an RB1 this weekend. Penny has just been seeing scraps when active this year and has been a low-upside RB3/flex in PPR leagues. If he doesn't play, C.J. Prosise will be the change-of-pace back behind Carson.
Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) appeared on the injury report as a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 10.
Fantasy Spin: There shouldn't be any concern for Penny, as he wasn't even listed on Wednesday's report. He could be used as a bye-week-replacement flex option while working behind starter Chris Carson.
Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson played 62 offensive snaps in the Week 5 victory over the Los Angeles Rams Thursday, Oct. 3. Rashaad Penny played just 12 snaps in his return from injury.
Fantasy Spin: Carson ran the ball 27 times for 118 yards and added one five-yard touchdown catch. Penny rushed six times for 18 yards while adding a 30-yard catch-and-run. It was only Penny's first game back, but Carson was the much more impressive rusher all night and should continue to perform at an RB1 level while Penny is relegated to a handcuff.
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny returned to action on Thursday night, and he spelled Chris Carson on a fairly regular basis. Penny recorded six carries compared to Carson's 27, but he also caught a pair of passes out of the backfield and was good enough to draw attention when he was in the game. Penny is clearly second fiddle to Carson, and while he's not terrible, he's also done nothing to challenge for the primary spot in his limited carries. At least it appears he's healthy after being sidelined for two games with a hamstring injury, but it's unlikely that he will provide any fantasy value unless Carson gets hit by an injury of his own.
Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny ran six times for 18 yards and added a pair of receptions for 31 yards in the team's Week 5 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Fantasy Spin: Thirty of Penny's 49 yards came on a single play, and he did little as a runner spelling Chris Carson here and there. His role could certainly increase as the season rolls on. For now, though, he's worth owning but not starting.
Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 2, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.
Fantasy Spin: Penny has missed the last few games but will be involved in the Week 5 game. He likely will receive a decent amount of carries but probably should only be a flex option in certain leagues.
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (hamstring) was taken off the final injury report for Thursday night against the Rams. Penny will make his return after missing the last two games. Chris Carson is still the lead back, although his fumbling issues could eventually lead to Penny seeing a bigger role. Until that happens, though, Penny remains a low-upside RB3/flex in PPR leagues. With Penny's return, C.J. Prosise will go back to the bench this week.
Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) remained a full participant in practice Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Fantasy Spin: It was the second straight full practice for Penny, who seems to be on track to return Thursday against the Los Angeles Rams. He'll be an RB3/FLEX option behind starter Chris Carson.
Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) fully participated in practice Monday, Sept. 30. The Seahawks did not hold a practice Monday, so this is an estimation.
Fantasy Spin: Penny has missed the last few games because of the injury but appears to be on track to play in Week 5. He should receive some carries and could be a flex option in some leagues.
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (hamstring) was listed as a full participant on the team's estimated practice report on Monday, and he's expected to play on Thursday night against the Rams. After missing the last two games, Penny should be able to play against the Rams this week, where he'll be an RB3/flex in PPR leagues as the backup to Chris Carson. Carson was used heavily in the Week 4 win against the Cardinals, but fumbling issues could eventually lead to Penny seeing more playing time. Los Angeles was just gashed through the air and on the ground by the Bucs and haven't been very effective in slowing down running backs this year.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that running back Rashaad Penny (hamstring) "will be ready to go this week" against the Rams after missing the last two games with a hamstring strain. The Seahawks face the Rams this Thursday night, so it still remains to be seen if Penny will actually be active. Even if he returns, he'll be a risky RB3/flex in deeper PPR leagues with Chris Carson still operating as the clear lead back despite his fumbling issues. If Penny is back in Week 5, it'll move C.J. Prosise back to third on the running back depth chart.
Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) is reportedly fully recovered from his hamstring strain and will play in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Fantasy Spin: Seattle plays on Thursday, so the Seahawks were likely trying to play it smart in Week 4 against a beatable opponent (the Arizona Cardinals) and make sure Penny didn't have to play two games in five days. The second-year back will return to his 1B role behind Chris Carson and could be a reasonable flex option against a defense that has coughed up five rushing touchdowns already, including two in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
