Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron is expected to be more of a factor in the red zone this season. With the departure of Anquan Boldin, Matthew Stafford will be looking elsewhere for an end zone safety net, and all signs point to that being Ebron. He scored only one touchdown last season, so it certainly won't be difficult for him to be "more of a factor," but still, Ebron himself seems excited about his expanded role. He's battled injury and inconsistency issues, but there's a lot of upside there if he can stay on the field.
Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron was third on the team in yards and receptions last year, and Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press believes the departure of free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) could help Ebron improve on his one touchdown from a year ago.
Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he believes the addition of TE Darren Fells will allow him to play to his strengths. 'I think it's going to play a significant role for me to allow me to do the things that I'm best at,' Ebron said.
Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he has talked with general manager Bob Quinn about a possible contract extension.
Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has yet to play 16 games in a season for the Lions, but he set career-highs last year in receptions (61) and yards (711) last season. He has also improved as a blocker, while his drop rate went from 10.1 percent in 2015 to 5.8 percent in 2016 even as he was targeted 17 more times and had a higher percentage of targets per route run and receptions per route run, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.
Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron, who missed three games last year with knee and ankle ailments, said he dealt with more injuries behind the scenes in 2016. The 24-year-old tight end took time in the offseason to relax and rest up and then started working out in California with players like Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley. Ebron has improved in each of his three seasons in the NFL, but inconsistency, injury and dropped passes continue to plague him, even though he still finished with top-10 tight end numbers last seasons. With full health, he could improve yet again. Ebron is a low-end TE1 with upside for more for fantasy purposes.
The Detroit Lions picked up tight end Eric Ebron's fifth-year option Tuesday. The option is guaranteed for injury only. The 24-year-old failed to live up to expectations in his first two years in Detroit but managed to put up top-10 tight end numbers in 2016 (61-711-1). He could make another leap in 2017 with Matthew Stafford still running the show, but fantasy owners would be wise to take him as more of a high-end TE2.
Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had his fifth-year option exercised Tuesday, May 2.
Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron remains a candidate to have his fifth-year option worth more than $8 million picked up by the May 2 deadline, but general manager Bob Quinn has yet to make that decision.
