According to Indy Star's Stephen Holder, Indianapolis Colts tight end Eric Ebron "has been among the more impressive Colts" during the team's offseason program. His athletic skill set has led to head coach Frank Reich using Ebron all over the formation. "He's really smart," Reich said, "and that's really good because you want to use a guy with the versatility that he has and move him around and call all kinds of things with him." If the team returns to heavily using two-tight end sets, Ebron could be a late round flier that could return significant value for fantasy owners.

Jun 18 2:13pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron was one of the more impressive players during offseason workouts and could have an impact in the passing game this season, in the opinion of the Indianapolis Star's Stephen Holder.

Jun 8 10:23pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron said he looks forward to playing with QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) because he is 'always open' in head coach Frank Reich's offensive system.

Jun 6 6:40pm ET

Indianapolis Colts tight end Eric Ebron expects to be the Zach Ertz of a reformed offense under newly hired Colts head coach and former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich. "He's done great things with tight ends," Ebron said, "I think he's brought me in here to be that ... effective player for him." Reich scripted the game plans for Pro Bowler Zach Ertz and backup tight end Trey Burton who just signed a fresh contract with the Chicago Bears. Although Ebron's lofty expectations have the potential to be buried behind the Colts two dominant playmakers in T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle, a healthy Andrew Luck has certainly supported a two-tight end system in the past.

May 17 10:13pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron could be the 'de facto third receiver' this year, according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

Apr 13 1:40am ET

Newly acquired Indianapolis Colts tight end Eric Ebron told the media on Thursday that he thinks quarterback Andrew Luck is a "perfect fit" for the kind of passer that he wants to play with, per Mike Wells of ESPN. "I just wanted a quarterback and someone that I knew could get me the ball," said Ebron, "the perfect move for me was to come to Indianapolis and be a weapon for him." After failing to live up to expectations as the tenth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, it might do Ebron some good to operate behind a reliable pass-catcher in tight end Jack Doyle. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, it's anyone's guess as to how the reformed coaching staff in Indianapolis will utilize him amid uncertainty with Andrew Luck's return. Ebron could be a name worth monitoring if he start to makes some noise in training camp.

Apr 3 12:20pm ET

The Detroit Lions are expected to target a tight end in the NFL Draft later this month. The Lions cut Eric Ebron earlier in the offseason and replaced him with free agents Luke Willson and Levine Toilolo. Neither expect to be big playmakers, so it's possible the team shifts to a more blocking TE offense. Don't expect any TE in Detroit to have a big fantasy impact.

Mar 29 10:43pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron is an 'elite' player at his position, according to head coach Frank Reich, and Reich expects Ebron to be able to exploit man coverages.

Mar 29 4:30pm ET

In describing the value of the Indianapolis Colts signing tight end Eric Ebron this offseason, head coach Frank Reich made it clear that the former Detroit Lion brings a sizeable red-zone mismatch to the offense. "You put an elite tight end on the backside, it's like clearing it out for LeBron (James)", Reich stated, "you feel like it's still a winning matchup, because of his size and catch radius." Of course, Reich is coming from an offense which utilized Zach Ertz heavily across multiple formations while taking advantage of his ability to box out defenders in the end zone. Even with Jack Doyle being the predominant No. 1 guy in Indianapolis, Ebron's athletic ability should lead the Colts coaching staff to give him his fair share of red-zone looks.

Mar 19 9:13pm ET

Free-agent TE Eric Ebron (Lions) signed a two-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts worth a maximum value of $15 million on Monday, March 19, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Mar 19 9:53am ET

Free-agent TE Eric Ebron (Lions) is visiting the Indianapolis Colts Monday, March 19.

Mar 16 12:40am ET

Free-agent tight end Eric Ebron will visit with the Carolina Panthers on Friday, according to a source. The 10th overall pick for Detroit in 2014, Ebron never lived up to his draft pedigree. He was extremely inconsistent and constantly struggled with dropped passes. He caught 53 passes for 574 yards and four touchdowns in 2017, but the Lions understandably moved on. Ebron will have to rehabilitate his image in another organization. If he signs with Carolina, he'd back up veteran Greg Olsen and wouldn't have much fantasy value at all.

Mar 15 8:13pm ET

Free-agent TE Eric Ebron (Lions) may have a meeting with the New England Patriots, according to a source.

Mar 14 3:23pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron was released Wednesday, March 14.

Mar 14 3:20pm ET

The Detroit Lions are releasing tight end Eric Ebron, after failing to find a trade partner. The former first round pick was a bust in the Motor City. He totaled 53 catches for 574 yards and four touchdowns last season, and had a major issue with drops. Ebron will now look to catch onto another team in need of a TE. Unless he is stepping into a starting role with an elite QB (which he had in Detroit) he should not be trusted in any fantasy formats. The Lions will be on the hunt for another tight end to pair with Darren Fells.

Mar 9 3:53pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron met with the team Thursday, March 8, to discuss his future. Per ESPN's Dianna Russini, team officials did not give him any guarantees he will remain with the Lions and let him know they are open to dealing him.

Mar 9 3:40pm ET

The Detroit Lions met with tight end Eric Ebron on Thursday to discuss his future. The team is open to dealing him and let him know that, while not supplying any guarantees that he will be on the team next year. The 2014 first round draft pick has failed to live up to expectations in the Motor City, and is owed $8.25 million dollars beginning on March 14. The Lions would likely deal him before then, as a trade would be little more than salary cap relief for the team. Unless he catches on as a teams primary TE option, he has limited fantasy value.
