Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in five balls for 42 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the New York Giants on Monday, Sept. 18.

Sep 18 11:50pm ET

Speculation this offseason was that Eric Ebron would be used in the red zone more this season for the Lions after they lost Anquan Boldin to retirement. That became a reality on Monday night as Ebron caught five passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Lions win over the Giants. After being mostly non-existent in week 1, it was encouraging to see Ebron have a much more active role in the offense in week 2. With the tight end position being extremely volatile in fantasy, Ebron's solid performance in week 2 should net him more attention as the season goes on. If he continues to be a target for Matthew Stafford in the red zone, he could easily find himself in high-end TE1 territory by season's end.

Sep 10 7:43pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted just two receptions for nine yards on three targets in Week 1 against the Cardinals.

Sep 7 1:00pm ET

Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter mentioned that tight end Eric Ebron will be used a little different this year, and that his role will "show itself as the season goes". The speculation is that Ebron will be used more in the red zone, a role held by the recently retired Anquan Boldin last season. An increase in red zone targets would be a big boost for Ebron's value. He is healthy heading into week 1 and represents a nice sleeper with the potential to be a rock solid TE1 by the end of the season. Health is always a concern for Ebron, however.

Sep 6 6:50pm ET

Tight end Eric Ebron was not listed on the Lions injury report, a great sign that the third year tight end will be ready to go for week 1. Ebron missed a big chunk of training camp nursing a knee injury, but his full participation indicates he should be at 100 percent on Sunday. Ebron has battled injuries throughout his young career, but has increased his scoring output each season in the NFL and is expected to be a bigger part of the Lions red zone attack this season. He should be treated as a low end TE1 for now.

Sep 6 5:43pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) is not listed on the Lions' injury report Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Aug 29 2:50pm ET

Lions General Manager Bob Quinn indicated that tight end Eric Ebron, who has missed the majority of training camp with a hamstring injury, will be ready to go for week one. While this was always the expectation, it is nice to hear some confirmation after the injury lingered further into training camp. Ebron, barring any setbacks, should be ready to go week one. The young tight end has increased his output each season he has been in the NFL and is looking to be an even bigger part of the offense, particularly in the red-zone, this season.

Aug 28 3:23pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 28.

Aug 28 3:00pm ET

Eric Ebron returned to practice on Monday for the Lions. Ebron has been out since the first day of training camp, having only practiced sparingly since then. It is encouraging to see Ebron get a chance to practice on Monday, especially since he got to work in with many of the starters (minus Matthew Stafford, who rested). Ebron has improved his output every year he has been in the league, but injuries have consistently cost him time and make him a TE2 in most formats. He has the potential to put up top-five numbers, but carries a substantial injury risk heading into his third NFL season.

Aug 25 2:23pm ET

Detroit Lions undrafted free-agent TE Robert Tonyan has started to see 'occasional first-team looks' in Eric Ebron's 'F' (move) tight end role as Ebron continues to miss practice time with a hamstring injury.

Aug 23 4:30pm ET

The magical vanishing act of Eric Ebron continues. He was supposed to return to practice last week, but didn't. Then he was supposed to practice this week, and he hasn't. Coach Jim Caldwell says he has not suffered a setback, but with only 18 days until the season opener, Ebron has yet to complete a full practice. Coach Caldwell does not seem overly concerned, but Ebron is missing a lot of time that he could be spending fine tuning and getting prepared for the season. He seems likely to need a little time to get back into game shape, making him a risk to trot out in week one. Still, Ebron has improved dramatically every season he has been in the NFL and is hoping to make yet another jump in 2017. He is a low-end TE1 right now, and each day he does not practice makes his fantasy stock drop just a tiny bit.

Aug 21 5:53pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 21.

Aug 21 4:20pm ET

Eric Ebron did not practice for the Lions yet again on Monday. He has remained either limited or not practicing at all since the first day of training camp. It was expected that he would be participating more this week, but coach Jim Caldwell insists he has not suffered a setback, just that the Lions are being extra careful with their third year tight end. Ebron is expected to be at full health for week 1 and should be a bigger contributor in the red zone, which will increase his fantasy value heading into the year.

Aug 18 2:30pm ET

Eric Ebron is still a limited participant in practice for the Lions, but coach Jim Caldwell insists he has not suffered a setback. Expectations were that he would be participating more by this point, but the Lions appear to be extra cautious with their tight end. With Cole Wick, Tim Wright and Khari Lee all sidelined, the Lions only had Darren Fells, Michael Roberts and Robert Tonyan in practice last week. They added some depth by signing Andrew Price. Ebron should be healthy for the regular season and is expected to be a bigger contributor in the red-zone, which should increase his fantasy value heading into his third NFL season.

Aug 17 9:53pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 17.

Aug 16 7:43pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Aug 11 4:40pm ET

After practicing for the first time since pulling his hamstring in the first practice of the year, it sounds like Eric Ebron will be back to full-speed next week. Coach Jim Caldwell expects Ebron to do "a little bit more damage" this year as well, saying he has improved every season and he expects him to continue to do so. The news that Ebron is healthy and that he is getting more looks in red-zone all point to him being a significant fantasy contributor out of the TE spot, and he should be drafted with TE1 potential in mind.

Aug 11 1:00pm ET

Lions tight end Eric Ebron (hamstring) practiced briefly with the team today, wearing full pads for the first half before going inside to work out on his own during team drills. The fact that Ebron suited up at all is a good sign for the third-year tight end, who has been hampered by injuries in his young career. Assuming all goes well, Ebron should be primed to be the week 1 starting TE for the Lions, and has proven he can be a dynamic fantasy contributor if he is healthy.

Aug 11 9:53am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) returned to practice Friday, Aug. 11.
