2024 RTSports Outlook

Walker wasn't even the starter his entire rookie year but found his way into the lineup quickly and made a huge impact. He started 11 games and topped 1,000-rushing yards. He had 1,215 total yards and nine touchdowns, finishing 18th overall in fantasy running back scoring. He ahd three straight 100-yard rushing games to end his season. He had double-digit fantasy points all but four games, including the first three he played. He was a huge factor once he started getting the touches. He will be the lead back from day one this season, but the Seahawks did use a second-round pick on Zach Charbonnet. He could cut into Walker's playing time some this year. Either way, Walker has the making of a star in the NFL. Walker runs with a lot of power but also has top speed. He can get to the next level in a hurry and is tough to bring down with the ball in his hands. He will try to make a big play too often and will can struggle at times in pass coverage. He should continue to get better in both areas with more seasoning.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Walker can move into the elite category of fantasy backs this year but the addition of Charbonnet clouds things a little for him. He probably is just outside the top-10 fantasy backs. And one other thing holding him back a little is a lack of receptions. He might not get the same number of catches as some of the really top backs. Either way, look for a lot of yards and scores. He can get 1,500 total yards, 40 receptions and 12 or so touchdowns.

Seattle Seahawks new head coach Mike MacDonald indicated new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb's proficiency scheming the running game likely will be highlighted more in his first job in the NFL in 2024. However, pre-snap motion, screens, and explosive downfield concepts will remain a big part of the menu in an aggressive, yet fundamentally sound offensive attack in Seattle. "We're going to be a physical unit, we're gonna run the football, and we want to have answers for the quarterback and we want to keep it consistent for him so he can play fast and play decisive and get the ball to our playmakers," MacDonald stated. An emphasis on the ground game would be beneficial for Kenneth Walker III, although second-year back Zach Charbonnet will certainly be involved more as well.

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III took 17 carries for 78 yards in Week 18. He also caught his only target for three yards in the win over the Arizona Cardinals. Ten of Walker's attempts were for three yards or less but his stat line was bailed out with four rushes that resulted in gains of at least 11 yards. Coming into the season his status as the starter was threatened after the Seahawks drafted Zach Charbonnet in the second round of the 2023 draft. Injuries aside, Walker held onto his role all year but Charbonnet's efficiency makes depth chart projections murky for 2024. Playing in 15 games in 2023, Walker had 219 carries for 905 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. He also had 29 catches for 259 yards and one receiving touchdown.

Seattle Seahawks running back (shoulder) is on track to play in Week 18 against the Arizona Cardinals. The 23-year-old logged a DNP on Wednesday and was limited in practice on Thursday, before finally participating in full on Friday. Walker has been playing through a shoulder injury so it may be the Seahawks were simply managing his workload ahead of a must-win game to make the playoffs. Walker is set up for a big game on Sunday against one of the worst run defenses in the league. The Cardinals see the most rushing attempts per game in the league (31.0, tied with the Jets) and have allowed the most rushing yards. In their last meeting, Walker had his only 100-yard game of the season and will look to repeat that feat in the season finale. Walker has as good of a matchup as he could hope for to end the regular season and has RB1 potential in Week 18.

Jan 4 8:00pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) returned to a limited practice session on Thursday after he was listed as a non-participant in the first practice of the week on Wednesday. Head coach Pete Carroll said that Walker is in a better spot than he was last week, when he played through his shoulder injury and had 10 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unless he has a setback on Friday, Walker should be active this Sunday in a must-win game against the Arizona Cardinals. It's a great matchup for Walker as well, and given all the uncertainty around the NFL in Week 18 with teams resting players, the 23-year-old second-year back will be a popular DFS play.

Jan 3 8:10pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) did not practice with the team on Wednesday. Walker has been playing through a shoulder in recent weeks and was forced from the Week 17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third quarter, but not before finding the end zone on 10 carries and 53 yards. He also added three receptions for 22 yards. The Seahawks are most likely giving Walker a breather early in the week at practice. The full expectation is that he'll return to practice in the next few days and serve as the team's primary RB in the Week 18 regular season finale in a great matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on the road. As long as Walker is active, he'll be a strong RB1 play in fantasy lineups in a must-win game for the Seahawks.

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) was deemed a game-time decision leading up to Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and ultimately drew the start. In the 30-23 loss, the 23-year-old took 10 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown and added 22 yards on three receptions. Walker's score came on a 13-yard run near the start of the second quarter. Early in the third quarter, Walker broke free for a 24-yard gain but it was wiped out due to a holding penalty incurred by wide receiver DK Metcalf. In the third quarter, Walker reaggravated the shoulder injury that limited him in practice this week and he was removed from the game temporarily. He returned briefly in the fourth quarter but Zach Charbonnet took over once the Seahawks were down two scores with less than five minutes remaining. The Seahawks face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 18, but if they do not want to put Walker at risk of further injury then Charbonnet would have one last go as Seattle's lead back in 2023.

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) returned to Sunday's meeting with the Steelers. Walker was questionable heading into this contest because of a shoulder injury, an issue that's bothered him for the last few weeks. However, the team was likely playing it safe by taking him out of the contest briefly, so he should finish the game, barring a setback.

Dec 31 6:30pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) is expected to return to Sunday's matchup with the Steelers. The 23-year-old was listed as questionable heading into this contest because of the shoulder injury, so his exit is obviously concerning for fantasy managers. Fortunately, he should be back, barring a setback. But if Walker doesn't return, he'll finish with 53 yards and a touchdown off 10 carries, adding three catches for 22 yards.

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder, illness) is officially active for Sunday's game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Walker's status had been a major point of discussion ever since the Seahawks listed him as questionable, but he was trending in the right direction as of Sunday morning. Now confirmed as active, Walker is expected to see a significant workload in Week 17. He has 39 touches over his last two games and should continue to be viewed as an RB2 option in most leagues.

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder, illness) is expected to play in Sunday's game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Walker's status had been a major point of discussion ever since the Seahawks listed him as questionable on Friday. Assuming he's around 100 percent on Sunday, fantasy managers can trust him to earn solid volume. He has 39 touches over his last two games and should continue to be viewed as an RB2 option in most leagues.

Dec 29 5:00pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder, illness) is officially questionable to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17. He missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but the team is leaving the door open for him to play with this designation. The 23-year-old was somewhat underwhelming last week with 3.38 YPC but could bounce back if active against the Steelers. In the event that he can't suit up, rookie Zach Charbonnet would be in line to start at running back, ranking as a low-end RB3/FLEX play.

Dec 28 8:30pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker (illness, shoulder) missed a second straight day of practice on Thursday. It's never good for a player to miss the first two practices of the week, but Walker could still play in Week 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers if he can return to at least a limited practice on Friday. It would be the same routine he followed last week before being listed as questionable and playing in the Week 16 win over the Tennessee Titans. On top of his shoulder injury, the 23-year-old is also sick this week. Making things more difficult for fantasy managers this week is the fact that Seattle doesn't play until the late window of games this Sunday. If Walker is active, he'll be on the RB1/2 borderline. But if he's out or limited at all, rookie Zach Charbonnet could have RB1 upside if he serves as Seattle's primary back.

Dec 27 10:30pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (illness, shoulder) was listed as a non-participant in the team's practice session on Wednesday due to an illness and a shoulder injury. A shoulder injury kept Walker from practicing until Friday of last week, but he ended up suiting up in Sunday's win over the Tennessee Titans and could follow a similar play before this Sunday's tilt against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers. Walker is averaging 4.0 yards per carry on 35 attempts for 140 yards and a rushing score in the last two games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Titans, adding four catches for 28 yards. As long as he's able to get back onto the practice field by Friday, Walker should start for the Seahawks in Week 17 and serve as a low-end RB1 for fantasy managers.

Dec 24 8:10pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III gained 54 rushing yards on 16 carries and caught one of his two targets for two receiving yards in Week 16. The second-year back was tagged as questionable coming into Sunday's game after logging just one practice this week due to a supposed shoulder injury. Despite the tag, the Seahawks remained committed to using him, as his 17 touches dwarfed the 3 afforded to Zach Charbonnet. Despite the usage, Walker didn't make it into the end zone nor did he break any big plays resulting in a mediocre fantasy performance. Walker and the Seahawks take on the Pittsburgh Steelers next, who held Joe Mixon to 50 scrimmage yards on Saturday.

Dec 24 11:40am ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) is officially active for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction, so this latest update comes as no surprise. The 23-year-old is coming off a big game versus the Eagles in which he broke free for 86 rushing yards, 26 receiving yards, and one touchdown. He'll benefit from playing against a banged-up Titans defense this week. Between his physical running style, nose for the end zone, and increased passing game usage, Walker finds himself in the high-end RB2 tier as the fantasy football playoffs continue.

Dec 24 8:30am ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) is expected to play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 16 despite being listed as questionable, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 23-year-old will look to build on last week's productive outing in which he amassed 86 rushing yards, 26 receiving yards, and one touchdown. Although the Titans have a strong run defense, they are missing several starters and Walker possesses undeniable talent. He remains a high-end RB2 option as the fantasy playoffs roll on.

Dec 24 1:50am ET

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) is expected to play on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. The 23-year-old is coming off a strong performance in Monday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, running for 86 yards and a touchdown off 19 carries. He also caught all three targets for 26 yards. Unfortunately, he suffered a shoulder injury during the contest, resulting in a few missed practices throughout the week. But barring a setback, Walker will be on the field, which is good news for fantasy managers, considering he just recently returned from a two-game absence. At any rate, the 2022 No. 41 overall pick has been a potent fantasy producer for most of the year, so he should be in every fantasy lineup. Additionally, Walker's likely availability means fewer snaps for backup Zach Charbonnet, who should now be classified as a flex option at best.

Dec 22 6:50pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) is listed as questionable for the Week 16 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Despite that, head coach Pete Carroll expects Walker to be able to play this weekend. Walker wasn't able to practice during the first two sessions of the week, but was able to get through a limited practice on Friday. His return would be a welcoming sight for fantasy managers in the playoffs. However, they will likely have to wait until closer to kickoff before getting confirmation on his status.

From RotoBaller

Dec 21 8:40pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) missed a second straight day of practice on Thursday due to a new shoulder injury that he apparently picked up in Monday night's upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles. We'll have a better idea of Walker's status on Friday, but he's firmly up in the air to be active on Sunday in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans. The 23-year-old had a strong game in Week 15 and found the end zone for his seventh rushing score of the year. If he can return to practice on Friday and play this weekend, Walker is a must-start RB2 for fantasy lineups. At the very least, though, fantasy managers need to have a backup plan in case Walker is unable to play in Week 16. Rookie second-rounder Zach Charbonnet would become Seattle's lead back and would have RB2 upside as a plug-and-play option in fantasy if Walker is ultimately ruled out.

From RotoBaller

Dec 20 7:50pm ET

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) is dealing with a new shoulder injury that kept him from participating in Wednesday's practice. Wide receiver Dee Eskridge (ribs) was also not at practice. It's unclear how serious the 23-year-old's shoulder injury is, but fantasy managers certainly are hoping Walker will be available this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans following his big performance in Monday night's upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Walker had 22 touches for 112 yards and a rushing touchdown, although he played just slightly over half the offensive snaps. We should have a better idea in the next couple of days as to whether Walker is in danger of missing Week 16. If he cannot play against the Titans, rookie Zach Charbonnet would fall into clear RB2 upside as Seattle's lead back.
