Watson was a healthy scratch every game last season for the Texans. He wanted a trade but the Texans couldn't make it happen, mainly because of his off the field issues. He was not charged for any of his crimes this offseason, though, and the Texans were able to trade him. Watson was dealt to the Browns to become their starter for the foreseeable future. Before last year, Watson had 30-plus touchdowns three straight seasons and 4,000-yard seasons two of three. Watson is a great athlete and top playmaker. Watson is a dual threat that can make big plays with his arm and legs. Watson has 400-plus rushing yards three straight seasons. He will force some throws at times, but generally does a good job of limiting turnovers.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Watson is an elite fantasy quarterback but probably won't be top five with a move to Cleveland. He has fewer weapons to work with offensively and will play in a more run-friendly offense. Even with that said, he can be top 10. There might be a little rust for Watson after not playing an entire season, but expect him to get up to speed quickly.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson enters 2022 as perhaps the most polarizing quarterback in fantasy. After missing all of 2021 with the Houston Texans due to allegations of sexual misconduct, Watson signed a five-year deal worth $230 million with Cleveland. The 26-year-old was suspended for six games by NFL's disciplinary officer, Judge Sue L. Robinson. The NFL is appealing Watson's suspension and is reportedly looking to suspend the Browns quarterback a minimum of one year plus fines, putting his 2022 season in doubt. If he is on the field, Watson's production is difficult to ignore. There may be a perception in fantasy circles that the emergence of young star quarterbacks over the past few years might squeeze Watson out of the elite tier, but that doesn't seem likely if he is active. Watson's 2020 numbers would have given him a QB4 finish in 2021, just ahead of Patrick Mahomes. The question mark for Watson if he plays is simply how much Cleveland's scheme is adapted to fit his strengths. Cleveland has run RPOs at one of the lowest rates in the league since head coach Kevin Stefanski arrived, while it was a staple of Watson's best fantasy seasons in Houston. With a Rotoballer quarterback ranking of 25, these risks are appropriately priced in. He remains arguably the best combination of arm talent and rushing ability of anyone not named Josh Allen.

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson could find out his fate this week and the suspension ruling could bar him from the preseason opener if it comes before then, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk on Wednesday, Aug. 10.
From TheHuddle
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said on Tuesday that the league is seeking a tougher penalty for Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson because his actions were "egregious" and "predatory behavior." The league formally appealed Watson's six-game suspension last week, which was given by disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson earlier this month. The NFL is seeking a suspension of at least a year for Watson. It's unknown when former New Jersey attorney general Peter C. Harvey will make a ruling on the appeal. Watson was accused of sexual assault and other inappropriate conduct during massage sessions in civil lawsuits filed by 25 women. There's a chance this ends up playing out in federal court, but Watson will miss at least the first six games of the 2022 season, making him an extremely risky fantasy QB this year.

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has a plan for quarterback Deshaun Watson and the rest of the team's QBs for the team's preseason opener on Friday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he hasn't told them yet and won't tell the media. It's unclear if Watson will play. NFL disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson handed down a six-game suspension for Watson, but the NFL has appealed and is seeking a full-season suspension, which could result in the case moving to federal court. It's anyone's guess as to how much he'll play in the preseason, but it doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things for fantasy. With at least a six-game ban for Watson in 2022, he's a low-end QB2, at best in upcoming fantasy drafts.

Dynasty | The NFL is appealing the decision to suspend Deshaun Watson for only six games. Dynasty Analysis: It's not uncommon for players to appeal their suspensions, but this time it's the other way around. The NFL is claiming Watson's behavior merits a much longer suspension while the disciplinary officer is claiming there simply isn't enough evidence to merit a longer loss of games. The NFLPA is also stating they'll sue the NFL if they appeal the suspension. In short, this saga isn't over and it's a total mess. At this point, expect to see Watson in week seven, though things could certainly change. Regardless, it does seem as if Watson was granted a lighter sentence than most expected.
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson's six-game suspension has been appealed by the NFL, and the league will be looking for an indefinite suspension that would last at least one year, according to a source.
Fantasy Spin: Watson's availability for the start of the season is uncertain at this time because of the appeal. Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see when he will be able to play. He is a No. 1 fantasy quarterback when he plays but is a risky option.
From TheHuddle
The NFL is appealing for an indefinite suspension for Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson that would be a minimum of one year, according to sources. The NFL's appeal will also include a monetary fine, which is even more significant given the structure of Watson's contract. Disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson gave Watson a six-game suspension on Monday after the investigation into 20-plus accusations of sexual misconduct from Watson. There's now a possibility that the NFL Players Association could file a federal lawsuit, depending on how commissioner Roger Goodell or an appointed designee handles the appeal, which would allow Watson to continue playing until it's heard in federal court.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson's six-game suspension has been appealed by the NFL.
Fantasy Spin: There is a good chance that Watson will see additional games added to his suspension, so fantasy players should monitor the situation. Watson should be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback when on the field, but players should have a strong second quarterback if they decide to draft Watson.

Dynasty | Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson received a six game suspension from disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson. What now? Dynasty Analysis: It's actually favorable news for the Watson camp as there was the possibility he could have been suspended for the entire season and the league was angling for an indefinite suspension. Both sides may appeal the ruling but Watson's camp and the NFLPA already indicated they would not. The greatest risk remaining would be if the league appeals the suspension in which commissioner Roger Goodell would hear the appeal and could impose additional games. While Watson is not yet out of the woods, it's a favorable first step after missing all of 2021. He remains DLF's QB12 for now.
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson is expected to be suspended six games as parties were informed by Judge Sue Robinson Monday, Aug. 1. He would be eligible to play Oct. 23 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Fantasy Spin: There's still a chance that he appeals, but this has to be considered a win for the Watson camp as the rhetoric around the situation was he could miss the entire season. He's going to be a QB2 option in fantasy because of the games missed, which will now be a season-and-a-half.
From TheHuddle
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has been suspended six games for violating the personal conduct policy. He will miss the first six weeks of the season and make his Browns debut in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens. NFL's disciplinary officer, Judge Sue L. Robinson, officially decided Monday for Watson's six-game suspension. The Browns play the Panthers, Jets, Steelers, Falcons, Chargers, and Patriots during the season's first six weeks. Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, David Njoku, and Amari Cooper's fantasy value takes a minor hit with Jacoby Brissett under center in the early part of the season. With Brissett as the team's starting quarterback, expect the Browns to lean heavily on the run before Watson is eligible to return. Fantasy managers can draft Watson as a mid-range QB2 in upcoming drafts, while Brissett becomes an option in Superflex league formats while the former Houston Texan is suspended.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson may learn his fate on Monday. The league's disciplinary officer, Judge Sue L. Robinson, is anticipated to reach a decision on the case after giving the NFL and NFL Players Association time to settle. However, with nothing of the sort expected, Robinson will be the deciding factor in this ordeal. Cleveland is expecting an eight-game suspension, with experts predicting that a two to eight-game hiatus is possible. Yet, there's also a chance Watson won't miss any time, which would automatically increase his fantasy stock. Guys like Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, David Njoku, and Amari Cooper would also likely benefit, especially since managers would feel more comfortable with Watson under center instead of Jacoby Brissett, who is expected to start if the former Texan misses games during the 2022-23 campaign.

Dynasty | The ruling on Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is expected on Monday Dynasty Analysis: For better or worse, the saga will come to an end, at least as it relates to the number of games Watson will miss. Efforts to settle between the team and the league went nowhere and his future now rests with Judge Sue L. Robinson. Given that every fantasy coach understands the history, what's at stake and the details, nothing else need be said at this time. We'll know shortly how many games he'll be sidelined, with 6-8 being, seemingly, most likely. Watson has slipped to DLF's QB12.
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson is expected to be notified of Sue Robinson's decision on his suspension on Monday, Aug. 1, according to sources on Sunday, July 31.
From TheHuddle
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson will likely find out his fate early this week, according to sources on Friday, July 29.
Fantasy Spin: The expectation is that Watson will face some kind of suspension, but how long it lasts remains to be seen. Jacoby Brissett will fill the void if Watson misses time but isn't a viable fantasy option. You can downgrade all Browns pass-catchers as long as Brissett is under center. Watson will be a QB1 whenever he suits up.
From TheHuddle
A ruling from NFL disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson on Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson's suspension could come early next week. The Browns have been giving Watson and backup Jacoby Brissett first-team repetitions early in training camp with Watson likely to be handed down a suspension eventually. Whether it's for the entire 2022 season or just a portion of it remains to be seen, but the Browns have been clear that Brissett will be their starter if Watson is suspended. The most likely scenario is an eight-game suspension for Watson, which makes him undraftable in most single-season fantasy formats. If/when Brissett is starting games, expect the Browns to lean heavily on their ground game.

Dynasty | Browns expected WR2 Donovan Peoples-Jones (DPJ) is in great shape and a favorite target of Deshaun Watson Dynasty Analysis: Peoples-Jones is an athletic freak who never really showed while at Michigan due to poor quarterback performance. Entering his third year, his time is now and he remains under the dynasty radar as DLF's WR74. With expectations now at no more than eight games for Watson's 2022 suspension, DPJ is a sneaky-good acquisition as a young (23) upside sleeper target for this season and beyond. All signs point to a career-year for Peoples-Jones.
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski clarified the team's quarterback depth chart on Wednesday. "Jacoby Brissett is our backup quarterback. If Deshaun Watson is unavailable, Jacoby's our starter." Brissett will get first-team repetitions in training camp practices just in case Watson is suspended for a good chunk (or all) of the 2022 season. Brissett proved in his time with the Indianapolis Colts in 2019 that he's a replacement-level starter in the NFL, and he threw for 1,283 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions in 11 games (five starts) for the Miami Dolphins in 2021. Especially in Cleveland's run-first offense, Brissett will be no more than a low-end QB2 in fantasy leagues if Watson is suspended.

Dynasty | The Browns have signed quarterback Josh Rosen to a one-year contract Dynasty Analysis: Unbelievably, Rosen is still only 25 and will be playing for his fourth team since being the 10th pick in the 2018 draft. He'll be a 2022 insurance policy while the team waits for news related to Deshaun Watson's looming suspension. Rosen, unranked on DLF's quarterback rankings, will compete with Jacoby Brissett during training camp to be under-center come week one.
Dynasty | The Browns are having former Cardinals, Dolphins, Falcons, and Bucs quarterback Josh Rosen try out for a roster spot. Dynasty Analysis: Once the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Rosen's career is on the brink as he'll now attempt to latch on with his fifth NFL team. The Browns also tried out AJ McCarron as they do their due diligence on backups with Deshaun Watson likely to be suspended and Jacoby Brissett the presumed starter in his absence. Rosen and McCarron are both best to be left on the wire. The news here is really all about Cleveland bracing for impact.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson's camp remains optimistic that he'll see the field in 2022. The optimism stems, in part, from how his three-day hearing from June 27-30 went in front of disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson. It might be wishful thinking on Watson's side, but the general consensus is that the NFL won't get an indefinite suspension of at least 17 games from Robinson. If she imposes any discipline, either side can appeal, which means the process might not be over. Robinson's process of reviewing post-hearing briefs from both sides could stretch into next week and even spill into the first week of August. If a suspension is eight games or less, some in Watson's camp would be inclined to forgo any appeal. There's a chance we don't have a decision from Robinson by July 27, when Browns veterans report to training camp.
