Las Vegas Raiders DL Adam Butler (biceps), G Dylan Parham (illness), and QB Geno Smith (ankle) did not practice on Friday, Jan. 2, and have been ruled out for Week 18 against the Kansas City Chiefs. RB Raheem Mostert (knee, ankle) was limited in practice on Friday and is listed as questionable. WR Jack Bech (back) and WR Tyler Lockett (shoulder) practiced in full on Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said that quarterback Geno Smith (ankle) will not play on Sunday against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs in the Week 18 regular-season finale, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. "I hate closing the door on any opportunity, but it's going to be really hard for him," Carroll said. Smith suffered a serious ankle injury in the Week 17 loss to the New York Giants and won't suit up for a meaningless contest to close out the regular season. With the 35-year-old veteran wrapping up a brutal first year in the desert, backup Kenny Pickett is expected to start this weekend. Aidan O'Connell could also end up splitting time with Pickett against KC. Smith was one of the worst starting QBs in football in 2025, completing 67.4% of his 448 pass attempts for 3,205 yards, 19 touchdowns, and a league-leading 17 interceptions in 15 starts.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith will not play in Week 18, according to head coach Pete Carroll. No starter has been named yet.

From TheHuddle

Dec 29 3:50pm ET

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said on Monday that quarterback Geno Smith (ankle) doesn't have a high-ankle sprain, but the injury is still significant, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. Smith left in the second half of Sunday's loss to the New York Giants and never returned. It was initially reported that the 35-year-old signal-caller suffered a high-ankle sprain, although Carroll has refuted that. Still, with one week left in the 2025 season, it seems unlikely that Smith will play in the Week 18 regular-season finale this Sunday against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs. Smith has been a massive failure in his first year with the Raiders, going 2-13 in his 15 starts with 3,025 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and a league-high 17 interceptions. Backup Kenny Pickett will most likely get the start this weekend in a meaningless game against KC.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith (ankle) may have a hard time to recover from his injury before the Week 18 game, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players can monitor the situation during the week to see if Smith or Kenny Pickett will be the starting quarterback in Week 18. Smith is the more valuable of the two quarterbacks in terms of fantasy, but both can be avoided in leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 28 10:23pm ET

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith (ankle) completed 20-of-28 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Week 17 against the New York Giants before suffering a high ankle sprain in the fourth quarter, head coach Pete Carroll said Sunday, Dec. 28. QB Kenny Pickett finished up.

Fantasy Spin: If Smith cannot go, and a high-ankle sprain is not easy to quickly shake off, Pickett is likely to get the start in the regular-season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs.

From TheHuddle

Dec 28 8:40pm ET

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith (ankle) was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain following Sunday's Week 17 loss against the New York Giants, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Smith suffered the injury during the fourth quarter while attempting to make a play on a Giants interception return. The veteran quarterback has found himself involved in several of those plays this year, as he leads the entire NFL with 17 interceptions. High-ankle sprains are typically multiple-week injuries, and even if Smith had a chance to play next week, it's tough to imagine the eliminated Raiders would rush him back. Kenny Pickett should start at quarterback in Vegas' regular-season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs. If the Raiders lose, they would clinch the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Dec 28 7:30pm ET

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith (ankle) exited during the fourth quarter of Sunday's Week 17 loss against the New York Giants. He was initially listed as questionable before being downgraded to out. The veteran signal-caller finished this game with a 71.4% completion rate, 176 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and two interceptions. He also took three sacks. Smith entered this game with the most interceptions in the NFL, and his total only grew prior to his early exit. He has been one of the lowest-scoring fantasy quarterbacks in 2025, keeping him on the waiver wire in most leagues. Smith, who injured himself while tackling on a Giants interception return, wouldn't be a reliable fantasy option against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 18, even if he's cleared to play.

From RotoBaller

Dec 28 7:00pm ET

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith (ankle) is questionable to return for Sunday's game against the New York Giants due to an ankle injury that he suffered in the fourth quarter after limping off the field. The fact that the Giants have a double-digit lead in the final quarter likely means that Smith is done for the day. He completed 20 of 28 passing attempts for 176 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions before leaving this contest. Backup Kenny Pickett will take over under center and could potentially start in Week 18 against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs if Smith is unable to play. Smith's season ending early due to injury would be a fitting end to a dismal first year in Las Vegas.

From RotoBaller

Dec 21 9:13pm ET

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith completed 16-of-23 passes for 201 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 16 against the Houston Texans, while he did not have any rushing attempts.

Fantasy Spin: Smith has been a bit rough this season, and he has committed way too many turnovers. Treat him only as a low-end QB2 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 17 and beyond.

From TheHuddle

Dec 21 8:40pm ET

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith (shoulder, back) returned to the field in Week 16, completing 16 of his 23 pass attempts for 201 yards for two touchdowns and one interception in a 23-21 loss to the Houston Texans. However, his interception early in the first quarter was costly, as the stalwart Texans defense returned it for a touchdown of their own. The 35-year-old quarterback spread the ball around to his pass catchers and kept his team competitive against the heavily favored Houston squad. Smith did end up taking three sacks, but this was his fewest since Week 9. The Raiders take on the New York Giants at home in Week 17, which is a top-five matchup for quarterbacks. The veteran play caller remains viable in 2QB or Superflex leagues in need of a starter, given this favorable matchup.

From RotoBaller

Dec 20 10:53am ET

Confirming a previous report, Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith (shoulder, back) will start Week 16's game versus the Houston Texans, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Spin: Smith fully participated in all three of the Raiders' practice sessions held during the week and no longer appears on the injury report. He is not a recommended starting option in any fantasy format, although his presence under center should boost the fantasy value of TE Brock Bowers.

From TheHuddle

Dec 20 9:00am ET

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith (shoulder, back) will return this Sunday on the road in Houston against the top-rated Texans defense in Week 16. He practiced in full all week and was removed from the team's injury report heading into Sunday's game. Smith has failed to pass over 175 yards in five of his last eight starts, and the Texans have held opposing quarterbacks to a league-best 12.9 fantasy points per game this season. In his previous start in Week 14 against the Denver Broncos, Smith completed 13 of his 21 pass attempts for 116 yards and one touchdown. In Week 16, the veteran quarterback will need to rely on rookie running back Ashton Jeanty and tight end Brock Bowers for short, quick passes as the Texans' defense allows quarterbacks a mere 2.73 seconds to throw, which is tied for first in the league. Only desperate two-QB Superflex league fantasy managers should consider the 35-year-old Smith as a starter in Week 16.

From RotoBaller

Dec 19 6:40pm ET

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said quarterback Geno Smith (shoulder, back) will start on Sunday against the Houston Texans, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. Smith practiced in full every day this week and will return in Week 16 after sitting out last week's blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles due to a right shoulder injury. The 35-year-old has struggled this season, with the second-most interceptions and tied for the most sacks taken, but he is an upgrade over Kenny Pickett, who led the Raiders to the lowest total yards (75) in any NFL game this season last week against the Eagles. Smith will return for another brutal matchup in Week 16 against the vaunted Houston Texans defense, and profiles only as a desperation play in superflex leagues.

Las Vegas Raiders OT Kolton Miller (ankle) was limited in practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 16 against the Houston Texans. OL Jordan Meredith (ankle) practiced in full all week and has been listed as questionable. WR Alex Bachman (thumb), S Jeremy Chinn (back), DE Maxx Crosby (knee), WR Tyler Lockett (knee), QB Geno Smith (shoulder, back), and TE Ian Thomas (calf) practiced in full on Friday, Dec. 19, and no longer appear on the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Dec 19 6:03pm ET

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith (hand) practiced in full all week and no longer appears on the injury report for Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Smith's return does not mean he should be in your lineup. His return is good news for Brock Bowers, but not your lineup if you need a quarterback.

From TheHuddle

Dec 18 8:33pm ET
