Wilson was hurt to start last season, his first with the Steelers, but moved into the starting lineup once he was healthy enough to play. It was a mixed bag for Wilson. He had a great start to his season but fizzled down the stretch. He had four of 11 games with 20-plus fantasy points. He had just a game all season with 300-plus passing yards, though. Wilson was just 20th overall in on target percentage, missing on some throws he should make. His career has not been the same since leaving the Seahawks. Wilson has been a lot more erratic than earlier in his career. He won't be handed anything going forward and will have to earn the right to start once again but should get first shot to start with the Giants. Wilson has 4,000-yard seasons four of his last 10 and had 20-plus passing touchdowns every season in the NFL until failing to reach that mark two of his last years. Wilson isn't a big quarterback but moves around the pocket well and can make all the throws at quarterback. His arm isn't off the charts but normally accurate. Wilson does well to find a throwing lane despite his small size. He can still hurt teams with his legs but that isn't as big of a part of his game at this stage of his career.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Wilson has some spot start appeal but that is about it. He just isn't a top fantasy quarterback anymore. The last few seasons are a concern for fantasy owners. Look for around 3,500-passing yards, 200-rushing yards and 25 total scores if he finds himself in the starting lineup once again.
New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson is likely to start the year as the QB1 for his team. The problems are that they face the toughest schedule of any team this year, by a solid margin, and that Wilson's own tendencies could do him in. Two games against the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Philadelphia Eagles, and one each against the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers, as well as the Detroit Lions, are already tough enough. But Wilson refuses to throw the ball over the middle, even when he has open receivers, nearly as much as he should. He was dead last in the league in 2024 in attempts over the intermediate and deep middle of the field. That won't fly, as WR Malik Nabers thrived on those routes, and he's the engine of the offense. Wilson prefers to throw safer passes and take sacks, rather than risk interceptions, so while his stats often look good, the devil is in the details. If you draft Russell Wilson for your fantasy football team, make sure you grab rookie Jaxson Dart as well.

New York Giants QB Russell Wilson, who will turn 37 years old in November, recently confirmed to SI.com's Conor Orr that he wants to play 'five-plus years.'
Fantasy Spin: Wilson had to wait a while for his one-year contract this offseason and is on his third team in three years, so it seems quite likely he may only have a year or two left - and that might have to come as a backup. In the here and now, however, Wilson should provide New York with some sense of stability under center for the first time in a long while. His biggest issue - as it relates to fantasy - is the likelihood that rookie Jaxson Dart will replace him at some point during the season.
From TheHuddle
New York Giants QB Russell Wilson was the most impressive on the field in front of the media, according to one Giants insider.
Fantasy Spin: Wilson needs to start fast in order to hold off rookie Jaxson Dart. He has the talent around him to do so, but he's a very "meh" QB2 in fantasy at the age of 36.
From TheHuddle
New York Giants QB Russell Wilson faces a daunting first four weeks with games against the Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Los Angeles Chargers. If Wilson looks 'competent' and wins 'at least one' game during that four-game stretch 'he could start all of 2025,' in the opinion of The Athletic's Jacob Robinson. If not, however, Robinson suggests that rookie QB Jaxson Dart 'could start earlier than anticipated.'
Fantasy Spin: Even while helping the Steelers reach the playoffs last year, Wilson rarely put up the type of numbers fantasy owners are looking for across his 11 starts, topping 300 yards just once and logging one or zero TDs six times. Now playing for a team with long-shot postseason aspirations and suspect receiving talent outside of Malik Nabers, Wilson holds nominal appeal unless you're planning on rostering three QBs.
From TheHuddle
New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. said that quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston have been sharing leadership duties this offseason in the team's clubhouse. "I wouldn't say leader of the pack because Jameis and Russ, they both have a really good dynamic to where they both respect each other," Tracy said. "They both allow each other to lead in their own way, whatever it may be. If Jameis wants to say something, Russ is not gonna come and say this is how it is. He'll let Jameis talk and lead his own way." It could make for some awkward situations in 2025 if Wilson struggles at the position, but for now, nobody should be reading too much into it. Wilson, 36, is fully expected to be the starter in Week 1, but if he falters, both Winston and rookie first-rounder Jaxon Dart could make starts by the end of the year. At best, Wilson will be a low-end QB2 in fantasy as he nears the end of his career.

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers was the primary reason that Russell Wilson decided to sign with the team this offseason. 'I came here because of (Nabers). I really wanted to play with someone who is special like him,' Wilson told Empire Sports Media's Anthony Rivardo.
Fantasy Spin: Wilson may have conveniently omitted the likelihood that New York was his only suitor this spring, but there is little question that throwing to Nabers will make his job easier. While it is fair to wonder if Wilson is much of an upgrade over Daniel Jones, the great thing for Nabers moving forward is New York should be in much better shape for the long term with first-round draft pick Jaxson Dart on board. As for Nabers, he is a solid first-round draft pick in redraft and an easy top-five receiver in dynasty formats.
From TheHuddle
New York Giants QB Russell Wilson is still expected to be the team's Week 1 starter but QB Jaxson Dart has shown a great deal of improvement this offseason, according to head coach Brian Daboll. In the opinion of NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, it seems to be a matter of 'when, not if' Dart will assume the starting role.
Fantasy Spin: Wilson should be viewed as a QB2 option in deeper fantasy leagues to begin the year but if Dart assumes the starting quarterback job at some point during the 2025 season, he can also be viewed as a serviceable QB2 option with a greater amount of upside. If you can afford the roster space, Dart should be rostered in all dynasty formats.
From TheHuddle
New York Giants WR Darius Slayton has developed a 'quality connection' with QB Russell Wilson, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com.
Fantasy Spin: Malik Nabers is the unquestioned No. 1 receiver for the Giants, but Slayton could be next in the pecking order for targets, especially if he and Wilson are on the same page. Slayton could be worth keeping an eye on during the preseason.
From TheHuddle
New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has been the team's offensive play-caller for every offseason practice open to the media, according to The Athletic's Dan Duggan. Head coach Brian Daboll has stuck with the same play-caller throughout the offseason in each of his first three years as the head coach, so all signs are pointing toward Kafka reclaiming the play-calling duties after Daboll took over in 2024. Kafka called the plays in Daboll's first two years as the head coach but was stripped of those duties when he was promoted to assistant head coach last year. The Giants offense finished worse in 2024 in most major statistical categories, so it looks like they will go back to Kafka with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson set to open the year as the starter. New York had its best offense under Daboll with Kafka calling the plays in 2022, when they finished 19th overall in offense and fourth in rushing.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan writes that New York Giants veteran quarterback Russell Wilson has been a natural mentor for all of the team's QBs this offseason, including rookie first-rounder Jaxson Dart. After signing in late March to a one-year deal in free agency, Wilson has quickly established himself as a leader and respected voice in the locker room. "I've always viewed it as you're always trying to be the best version of you, and then you're always giving back to everybody else," Wilson said. The 36-year-old organized a dinner this week with the QBs, O-linemen and running backs and also put together throwing sessions this offseason in various cities. While all of Wilson's reps this spring have come with the first-team offense and he will be the starter in Week 1, there will be plenty of pressure on him to perform well and to hold off Dart in 2025 after a disappointing 2024 campaign in Pittsburgh.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants QB Russell Wilson 'definitely is the leader' of the quarterback room, according to WR Wan'Dale Robinson via ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan.
Fantasy Spin: Robinson cited Wilson's push to organize several throwing sessions as one of the reasons why he felt compelled to talk about Wilson's place on the depth chart. This is just confirmation of what 99% of football fans already knew. Jameis Winston was signed to backup money this offseason, while the Giants hope they can have first-round draft choice Jaxson Dart hold the clipboard for most of his rookie season. Circumstances will likely cause New York to change course around midseason, but it seems pretty certain Wilson will be QB1 to begin the year.
From TheHuddle
New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson noted on the 7 PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast that he is relishing the chance to play with the team in New York. "I don't mind the lights. I don't mind that part of it," said the former Seattle Seahawk. He was also very excited about the cast of athletes he'll share the field with, and said that head coach Brian Daboll influenced his decision to land with the Giants. "Here with Dabes, I'm excited because his offensive wizardry is really special. Him and (offensive coordinator Mike) Kafka...people that I know and people that I believe in. I'm excited about the opportunity." There's no guarantee the 36-year-old starts for New York the entire season with fellow veteran signal-caller Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart waiting in the wings. However, he's undoubtedly a more talented QB than any of their options from 2024. Wilson could have some decent streaming appeal this season as long as he has the starting gig.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants QB Russell Wilson received most of the work with the first-team offense during practice Wednesday, May 28.
Fantasy Spin: Wilson likely will open the season as the starting quarterback for the Giants, but Jaxson Dart may take the job over at some point during the 2025 season. Wilson could be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in some deeper leagues but will not be a starting option.
From TheHuddle
The Athletic's Charlotte Carroll writes that there is no open quarterback competition for the New York Giants after they traded back into the first round of this year's NFL draft to take Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss. Head coach Brian Daboll has repeatedly said this offseason that Russell Wilson will take the first-team repetitions to start the spring and is expected to be the Week 1 starter. But because Wilson is only on a one-year deal, he's viewed as a bridge QB. Veteran Jameis Winston is an insurance policy in 2025 and a future backup for Dart in 2026. However, with both Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen on the hot seat after going 9-25 the last two years, pressure could mount in the Big Apple for Dart to get his chance sooner than later in 2025 if Wilson and the G-Men struggle early on. Wilson is still a great deep passer and could click with receiver Malik Nabers, but there's little fantasy upside at this stage of his career.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants QB Russell Wilson was officially named the team's starting quarterback by head coach Brian Daboll at a press conference Thursday, April 24.
Fantasy Spin: This news should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, despite the presence of Jameis Winston and first-round draft pick Jaxson Dart on the roster, along with Tommy DeVito. Although Wilson showed flashes of brilliance in 2024, his performance tailed off near the end of the season, so he should be viewed as a midrange QB2 option in most fantasy formats. Dart will have value in dynasty leagues, although there is a good chance that he won't see the field in 2025.
From TheHuddle
Dynasty | Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll is planning on having Russell Wilson being his opening day starter. Dynasty Analysis: This is, of course, despite the fact the Giants moved up in the 2025 NFL Draft to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart in the first round. It all sounds great to have Dart sit behind Wilson and learn, but Daboll is also on one of the hottest seats in the NFL, so the leash on Wilson would be quite short. Regardless, Dart should find his way onto the field one way or another next year and it really looks like Wilson may need another trade at some point to get one last shot at sustained dynasty relevance. Wilson is a shaky hold in dynasty leagues.
After trading up back into the first round of the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday night to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll made it clear in his press conference that veteran Russell Wilson will be the starting QB, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "He can come in, sit behind a couple veteran quarterbacks and learn," Daboll said. In addition to Wilson, the G-Men signed former first-rounder Jameis Winston to bolster their QB room heading into 2025. Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are both firmly on the hot seat, but at least the Giants now have their QB of the future if things go poorly again this fall. Wilson, 36, initially gave Pittsburgh's offense a spark in 2024 but looked over the hill down the stretch. He could develop a nice chemistry with WR1 Malik Nabers, but Wilson will have to play well to hold off Winston and Dart.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants QB Russell Wilson recently held a workout with WR Darius Slayton, WR Wan'Dale Robinson and TE Theo Johnson.
Fantasy Spin: Wilson likely will be the leading candidate for the starting quarterback entering training camp based on the contract he signed this offseason. He had some productive outings in 2024 but struggled at the end of the season. Wilson likely will be a No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.
From TheHuddle
New York Giants QB Russell Wilson will work with the first-team offense during offseason workouts, according to general manager Joe Schoen.
Fantasy Spin: Wilson received a good contract from the Giants, so he should be the leading candidate for the starting job even if the team selects a quarterback in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Wilson played well at times this past season but should only be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.
From TheHuddle
New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson said he expects to be the team's starting QB in 2025 after agreeing to a one-year deal worth $10.5 million guaranteed on Tuesday. Wilson joins veteran Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito in the G-Men's quarterback room, although they could still add a rookie signal-caller in April's draft. The 36-year-old underwhelmed in his two seasons in Denver in 2022 and 2023 and then completed 63.7% of his 336 pass attempts for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 regular-season starts for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024. The 10-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl champion is clearly past his prime, but he'll have some decent weapons in New York, most notably second-year wideout Malik Nabers. However, given how he's looked the last three years, Wilson is unlikely to be much more than a midrange QB2 in fantasy in 2025, at best.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants QB Russell Wilson said he expects to open the 2025 season as the starting quarterback.
Fantasy Spin: Wilson probably will enter training camp as the significant favorite for the starting job even if the team selects a quarterback in the first round because of the contract he signed. Fantasy players can monitor the situation over the next few months but should consider Wilson a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.
