Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel will serve as the backup option for the upcoming Week 13 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Gabriel sat out of Sunday's game versus the Las Vegas Raiders due to a concussion. On Monday, Gabriel cleared concussion protocol, but was named the backup for at least one game. Shedeur Sanders played well in his absence and will draw at least one more start for the Browns. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said he won't name a starter past this week, so Gabriel could take over again if Sanders struggles.

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said on Monday that rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel (head) has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol, according to Camryn Justice of WEWS. The Browns previously said that Gabriel would return to the starting role under center when he was cleared of his concussion, but that won't be the case, as they have named fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders as the starter for Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers after he led the team to their third win of the year in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders. If Sanders continues to play well, the 24-year-old Gabriel could finish out his first year in the NFL in a backup role. Sanders didn't play exceptionally well in his first career start, but he did help the Browns stretch the field, something that Gabriel could not do. In eight games (six starts), Gabriel completed 59.2% of his passes for 937 yards, seven touchdowns, and two picks while averaging just 117.1 passing yards per game.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of the Week 12 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite returning to practice on Friday, Gabriel won't be active this weekend. He hasn't fully cleared concussion protocol, so he won't suit up. In his absence, Shedeur Sanders will make his first career NFL start with Bailey Zappe backing him up. Gabriel wasn't lighting up the box score when he was healthy, so Sanders might be able to steal away the starting gig with a strong performance. Otherwise, Gabriel should be ready to go for the Week 13 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel (concussion) returned to practice on Friday but has still not fully cleared the league's concussion protocol, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Gabriel was forced to exit early from Cleveland's Week 11 loss to the Baltimore Ravens after suffering a concussion and will miss the team's Week 12 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders as well. With Gabriel sidelined, fellow rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders will make his first NFL start against Las Vegas. While a monster performance from Sanders could change things, Gabriel is expected to resume starting duties in Cleveland once cleared to return from his concussion. Given that he was able to return to practice in some capacity on Friday, Gabriel's return could come when the Browns will host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13.

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel (concussion) missed another day of practice on Thursday, according to Scott Petrak of Browns Zone. The Browns already announced that Gabriel will not play in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders after suffering a concussion on Sunday in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and he will likely sit out of practice the entire week. If the 24-year-old can clear the league's concussion protocol next week, though, he's expected to return to the starting role to face the San Francisco 49ers. With Gabriel out this weekend, fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders will make his first NFL start on the road against the Raiders. Unsurprisingly, Gabriel has mostly struggled in his first eight games (six starts), going 1-5 with a 59.2 completion percentage, 937 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions. He'll be on the QB2/3 borderline for fantasy managers if he makes more starts in 2025.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel (concussion) is improving, but he remains in the league's concussion protocol, according to Scott Petrak of Browns Zone. Gabriel will not start this weekend against the Las Vegas Raiders after suffering a concussion in the Week 11 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, paving the way for rookie fifth-rounder Shedeur Sanders to make his first NFL start on Sunday in Sin City. The Browns are saying that the 24-year-old Gabriel will be the starter once again when he's cleared from the concussion protocol, though, so he could return to duties under center as soon as Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers. Gabriel has been a shaky low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes in his first eight NFL games (six starts), completing 59.2% of his pass attempts for 937 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol after sitting out the second half of Sunday's loss to the Ravens. While Gabriel only threw for 68 yards in the first half, the Browns held a 16-10 lead before fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders took over in the second half. Sanders threw for only 47 yards while completing a quarter of his pass attempts and throwing an interception in a game that was eventually lost 23-16. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters on Monday that he would provide an update on Wednesday regarding the team's preparation for Sunday's Week 12 matchup with the Raiders. Regardless of who gets the start in Week 12 or beyond, the Browns' entire passing offense should be avoided down the stretch of the fantasy season and into the playoffs.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel (concussion) has entered the league's concussion protocol, leaving his status for Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders up in the air. However, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski, Gabriel will remain the starter if he is healthy and clears concussion protocol. The Oregon product was replaced by fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders following his injury, but it didn't go very well as Sanders completed just four of his 16 pass attempts, took two sacks, and threw an interception. Gabriel, on the other hand, went 7-for-10 passing with 68 yards through the air, and he also led four scoring drives. Cleveland is at its best when it controls the rushing attack, which leaves Gabriel outside the top 24 fantasy quarterbacks going forward.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel (concussion) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Gabriel was pulled out and was taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion. He didn't join the team in the second half and is officially done for the day. Before exiting, Gabriel completed 7-of-10 passing attempts for 68 yards. Now, Shedeur Sanders will take over under center for the rest of this game. Sanders is making his NFL debut and gets a chance to prove himself with his team leading to begin the second half.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel completed 17 of his 32 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 10 loss to the New York Jets. The rookie quarterback has completed 58.6% of his passes for 869 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions in seven games for the Browns this season. He will look for his second 200-yard passing game of the season in a Week 11 home matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have been generous to opposing passing offenses this season, allowing the ninth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks thus far. That being said, Gabriel hasn't shown enough of a ceiling in fantasy to trust as a starting option, even in a plus matchup like he has on Sunday. He settles in as a middling QB3 in fantasy for Week 11 and is not a realistic starting option outside of deep, superflex formats.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that "he's sticking with [quarterback] Dillon Gabriel and will continue to coach him up" ahead of Week 11 versus the Baltimore Ravens, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Gabriel completed 17 of 32 passes for 167 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's loss to the New York Jets. He also showcased significant mobility late in the game, adding five rushing attempts for 54 rushing yards. The rookie had a decent day in terms of scoring, limiting turnovers, and running the ball, but he'll need to improve on his completion rate and total yardage. Nevertheless, Stefanski sees enough potential in the Oregon product to keep him involved in the first-team offense going forward. He'll rank as a low-end QB2 with the potential to rack up garbage-time points against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel will come out of his bye to face off against the New York Jets on the road in Week 10. Gabriel has shown a limited fantasy ceiling this season, passing for 702 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions in six games (four starts). The Jets have struggled against opposing passing games this season, allowing the 11th-most fantasy points per game, and that was before they traded Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams at Tuesday's NFL trade deadline. That being said, the Cleveland offense has been one of the least impressive units in the league. Gabriel settles in as a QB3 in fantasy heading into Week 10 even in a prime matchup against a gutted New York defense.

Dynasty | Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel completed 21-of-35 passes for 156 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in a loss to the Patriots. Dynasty Analysis: Gabriel has proven to be about what we thought he was - a decent NFL quarterback. The problem is "decent" NFL quarterbacks don't tend to last long in the league. Gabriel is completing less than 60% of his passes and has only surpassed 200 yards passing in one of his four starts so far. While his performance today won't open the door for another starter, we haven't seen anything to lead us to believe he's the long-term answer for the Browns, either. His ADP and ranking seem secure but neither are very exciting at this point.
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told the media that Dillon Gabriel will remain the team's starting quarterback following their Week 9 bye. Gabriel struggled in Sunday's loss to the Patriots, completing 60 percent of his passes for just 156 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. The rookie had struggled through his three previous starts, but the lone bright spot during that span was the fact that Gabriel had not turned over the football. That streak came to an end in Week 8 as the Patriots picked him off twice. Cleveland's quarterback room also features Shedeur Sanders (back) and Bailey Zappe, neither of whom has played an NFL snap in 2025. Gabriel will have at least one more opportunity to save his job when the 2-6 Browns face the New York Jets in Week 10.

Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam spoke publicly about the team's quarterback room, noting that he wants to see more from rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Haslam did acknowledge that three games is "not a great sample (size)" to evaluate a rookie quarterback. The 24-year-old has completed just 59.8 percent of his passes for 546 yards and three touchdowns, but he doesn't have a turnover yet. One of the biggest obstacles for Gabriel so far has been his matchups and supporting cast. Not only has he faced tough defenses in the Vikings and Steelers, but he hasn't received much help from his depleted group of wide receivers. The rookie deserves at least a few more starts to increase his sample size, with Shedeur Sanders remaining a possible candidate to take over as the starter midseason.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw for 116 scoreless yards in a 31-6 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 7. The rookie quarterback saw his passing stats suppressed by a rainy, windy day in Cleveland. Gabriel has now thrown for 546 yards and three touchdowns across five games (three starts) for the Browns this year. He will look to post more gaudy stats in a Week 8 road matchup against the New England Patriots. The Patriots have been tough on opposing quarterbacks this season as they are allowing the 22nd-most fantasy points per game to the position through seven games. Gabriel sets up as a low-end QB2 in a week where there are six teams on bye.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel completed 13 of his 18 passes for 116 scoreless yards while adding four carries for 12 yards in a 31-6 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 7. As has become customary over his three starts, Gabriel operated as a game-manager for the Cleveland offense as they leaned heavily on the rushing attack. The rookie quarterback has now thrown for 546 yards and three touchdowns while completing 59.8% of his passes and throwing zero interceptions through five games. He will look to raise his fantasy ceiling in a Week 8 road matchup against the New England Patriots. The Patriots have been solid on defense this season, allowing the fifth-fewest points per game in the league at 19.0 per game. Gabriel sets up as a low-end QB2 in a week with six teams on bye.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel has made two starts thus far in his rookie season, passing for 430 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. While the rookie has done a nice job taking care of the ball, he has yet to bring much upside to a Cleveland offense that has scored just 82 points across six games. He will look to turn things around in a Week 7 home game against the Miami Dolphins. Miami's defense has been one of the worst in the league this season, allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks thus far. Gabriel definitely has the matchup in his favor, but he will have to show more on the field to be trustworthy for fantasy lineups. He sets up as a high-end QB3 heading into Week 7.
