New York Jets wide receiver John Metchie III has garnered an increased role in the team's offense and will look to keep it rolling against the Atlanta Falcons at home in Week 13. Sunday's clash with Atlanta will be the 25-year-old's fourth appearance as a Jet, and third as a starter, accruing greater than 80% of snaps in the previous two contests. Over that time, Metchie III led the team in receiving yards during their loss to New England (45), and posted the most receptions of any Jets' pass-catcher in Week 12 (six). If the offensive attack can remain somewhat competent with quarterback Tyrod Taylor under center, there's hope that Metchie III might boast some decent PPR appeal moving forward. For now, he's a low-end flex play in deep leagues, and, officially, RotoBaller's PPR WR52 for Sunday's meeting with Atlanta.

With Garrett Wilson (knee) currently on the Injured Reserve, the New York Jets have been looking to see who would step up and be the team's top pass-catching option. Over the last two weeks, third-year receiver out of Alabama, and a former second-round pick, John Metchie III, has stepped up and answered that question. The Jets brought in Adonai Mitchell via trade, and although he has seen 13 targets over the past two games, he has yet to turn that into any production. On the other hand, Metchie has seen 10 targets in the last two games, scored twice, and has hauled in nine of those 10 targets for 110 receiving yards. In Week 12, with Tyrod Taylor under center, Metchie saw a season high of seven targets, and could be working his way into flex consideration in fantasy football while Wilson remains sidelined with the injury.
From RotoBaller
New York Jets wide receiver John Metchie III had one of the best games of his young career in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens, hauling in six catches for 65 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in his team's 23-10 loss. Metchie III has now caught touchdown passes in back-to-back weeks and looks to be emerging as one of the top pass-catchers in New York, with star wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) currently sidelined by a knee injury. In another encouraging development, the Jets' passing game as a whole looked significantly more competent in Week 12 after making the switch at quarterback from Justin Fields to Tyrod Taylor. Taylor threw for 222 yards against Baltimore in Week 12, while Fields had failed to reach even 125 passing yards in four out of his last five starts. Given the clear opportunity for Metchie III in New York, he could be a player for deep-league fantasy managers to target on the waiver wire heading into a Week 13 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

New York Jets wide receiver John Metchie III could see more work in the receiving game going forward. The Jets are looking for someone to step up and be a playmaker with Garrett Wilson (knee) still sidelined. Last week, Metchie hauled in all three of his targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the New England Patriots. Given his success, Metchie could be asked to take on more responsibility in the receiving game this weekend. It's worth noting that Adonai Mitchell saw six targets last week, so he'll likely profile as the top target in Week 12. Despite that, Metchie should see enough of a workload to offer low-end flex value for the upcoming matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

New York Jets wide receiver John Metchie III will try to build off Week 11's performance in Sunday's clash with the hosting Baltimore Ravens. The Taiwan native made his second appearance with New York in last Thursday's loss to New England, leading the team in receiving yards (45), while pulling in 3-of-3 targets and his first touchdown of the campaign. Notably, Metchie III played the most snaps of all Jets' wideouts (82%) and lined up all over the formation. Things will be a bit different in Week 12, considering head coach Aaron Glenn has officially made the switch to veteran signal-caller Tyrod Taylor in lieu of an inefficient Justin Fields. Only time will tell if that turns out to be an upgrade, but either way, Metchie III should get solid opportunity, as he and new teammate Adonai Mitchell form a sort of 1A/1B tandem in the wake of Garrett Wilson's (knee) injury. The former Houston Texans wideout ranks as RotoBaller's PPR WR76 for his matchup with Baltimore.

New York Jets wide receiver John Metchie III made the most of his increased playing time during last week's game against the New England Patriots. Metchie hauled in all three of his targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The 25-year-old has been a non-factor in the offense all season, but could start seeing an expanded role now. The Jets are without Garrett Wilson (knee), so they need someone to step up on offense. Metchie showed that he was capable of making plays when called upon. Fantasy managers should look for him to have a bigger role in the offense going forward.
From RotoBaller
New York Jets wide receiver John Metchie III caught all three of his targets for 45 yards and a touchdown during Thursday's Week 11 loss against the New England Patriots. Metchie played 82.5 percent of the snaps in the defeat, shattering his previous season-high snap share of 16 percent. Thursday's game also featured Metchie's first touchdown this season and just the second of his career. The 25-year-old was presented with increased opportunities to contribute on primetime television after Garrett Wilson (knee) was placed on injured reserve. The Jets may ride the hot hand in the passing game going forward, but Metchie has an early leg up on the rest of his competition. He can be viewed as a low-end WR3/flex in deeper leagues ahead of Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens.

New York Jets wide receiver John Metchie III was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles the week before the NFL trade deadline. Metchie didn't earn significant playing time in Philadelphia, totaling just 31 offensive snaps and recording four catches (four targets) for 18 yards. The 25-year-old was used primarily on special teams, but he'll have the chance to emerge as a receiver on a Jets team that has been searching for options outside of star wideout Garrett Wilson, who will return in Week 10 from his multi-game absence due to a knee injury. The Jets also acquired former second-round pick Adonai Mitchell from the Indianapolis Colts in the Sauce Gardner trade, opening the door for both unproven wideouts to see significant playing time. It will be interesting to see how involved Metchie is in the Jets' Week 10 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Metchie is worth monitoring as a potential fantasy riser for now.

The New York Jets acquired wide receiver John Metchie III from the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday. Metchie III was barely utilized in Philadelphia this season, recording four catches for 18 yards on seven targets across seven games. However, the 25-year-old should now be in a much better position to earn consistent playing time as a member of the Jets. New York could be getting star wideout Garrett Wilson (knee) back in Week 10 after the team's Week 9 bye, but Wilson is the only wide receiver who is clearly ahead of Metchie III on the Jets' wide receiver depth chart. A former second-round pick by the Houston Texans, Metchie III has hauled in 44 catches for 430 yards and a touchdown on 71 targets across 36 career NFL games. In deep fantasy leagues, he may be worth adding off the waiver wire as a low-risk dart throw.

The Philadelphia Eagles are trading wide receiver John Metchie III and a 2027 sixth-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for cornerback Michael Carter II and a 2027 seventh-round pick, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Metchie played the most offensive snaps of the season with the Eagles in Week 8 with A.J. Brown (hamstring) out, but it was only nine snaps, and he didn't record a target in the game. The 25-year-old will join his third team since August, beginning the offseason with the Texans before being dealt to the Eagles in August. Metchie mostly served as a special teamer with Philadelphia, but lands with a Jets team that needs help at wide receiver, with Garrett Wilson (knee) banged up. He could be in the mix for opportunities early in New York, and gets a Week 9 bye to get up to speed with his new team.
From RotoBaller
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver John Metchie III is in line for more opportunities in Week 8 against the New York Giants with A.J. Brown (hamstring) ruled out. Metchie has played sparingly this season with just 22 offensive snaps and four catches (four targets) for 18 yards in the six games that he's been active. The 25-year-old wideout, along with former first-round pick Jahan Dotson, will both see more routes, but neither would be considered a reliable fantasy option on Sunday against the Giants. Philadelphia could opt to take advantage of the Giants' weaker run defense, which ranks 28th in rush success rate on the season. More targets will likely be directed to DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert, making Metchie a desperation play only in Week 8.

Dynasty | The Houston Texans have traded wide receiver John Metchie to the Eagles. Dynasty Analysis: Metchie goes to the Texans in exchange for Harrison Bryant and a day three pick swap. Lost in the shuffle in Houston, Metchie should compete with Johnny Wilson and Jahan Dotson for a role behind AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. It's a welcome move for Metchie who was lost behind not only the startes, but also rookies Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel in Houston. Metchie is still a ways off the dynasty radar but he at least has a path to relevance here.
The Houston Texans have traded wide receiver John Metchie III and a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for tight end Harrison Bryant and a 2026 fifth-round pick. Metchie, a former second-round pick, is entering his third season after missing his entire rookie year while battling leukemia. The 25-year-old receiver struggled to earn a consistent role in the Texans' passing game, finishing his time in Houston with 40 receptions for 412 yards and one touchdown in 29 games. Metchie will now look to earn a spot on the Eagles' depth chart behind wideouts A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jahan Dotson.
