New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal won't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game after dealing with an ankle injury throughout the week. It appears the rookie back is ready to go versus the Miami Dolphins. Neal will take over as the lead back with Alvin Kamara (knee, ankle) ruled out for this Week 13 contest. Neal carried the ball seven times for 18 yards, while hauling in five receptions for 43 yards during last week's loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The rookie back figures to be the primary option in the backfield with Audric Estime, Evan Hull, and Taysom Hill possibly getting involved as well. Neal should be able to do enough damage to be considered a low-end RB2 for this upcoming matchup.

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal (ankle) will not carry an injury designation into Week 13 and is "good to go" for his team's matchup on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, per Mike Triplett of New Orleans.Football. Neal was a limited practice participant on both Wednesday and Thursday due to the ankle issue, but was able to log a full session on Friday. With veteran Saints back Alvin Kamara (knee, ankle) officially ruled out for Week 13, Neal could have the chance to lead his team's backfield against Miami. Across seven games played this season, the rookie sixth-rounder has recorded 125 scrimmage yards on 29 touches. Neal did most of his work as a receiver in Week 12 after Kamara was forced to exit the game, hauling in five catches for 43 yards on seven targets. He profiles as a low-end fantasy RB2 in Week 13 against Miami.

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal (ankle) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. Neal took over as the lead back for the final three quarters after Alvin Kamara (knee) exited early during Sunday's game. Neal looks like he picked up a minor ankle injury along the way. The fact he was limited suggests that Neal is on track to play against the Miami Dolphins in Week 13. He rushed the ball seven times for 18 yards, while hauling in five receptions for 43 yards in the loss. Kamara is trending in the wrong direction right now, so Neal could take over as the lead back this weekend.

Nov 26 9:30am CT

New Orleans Saints rookie running back Devin Neal is expected to have his first career start in Week 13, with starting running back Alvin Kamara (knee) injured. Kamara suffered a MCL sprain in Week 12, which could sideline him for some time. After the veteran left in the first half, Neal had seven carries for 18 yards, while adding 43 yards on five receptions against the Atlanta Falcons. With Kendre Miller (ACL) done for the season and Kamara banged up, Neal will carry the load, with former Broncos back Audric Estime handling the backup role. The Saints have a very favorable upcoming schedule, including Week 13's game against the Miami Dolphins, who have allowed the fourth most rushing yards this season. If Kamara's out, Neal offers RB2 value in Week 13 in his first career start.

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal rushed for 18 yards on seven carries in Sunday's 24-10 home loss to their division-rival Atlanta Falcons. He added 43 yards through the air on 5-of-7 receiving. The rookie took on an elevated workload in Week 12 in the wake of backfield mate Alvin Kamara's (knee) injury. Neal didn't find much room on the ground to run, and it's noteworthy that tight end Taysom Hill saw three more carries than him. However, Hill's efficiency was worse (1.7 YPC), and the former tied two others for second on the team in targets. Kamara's injury has been deemed an MCL sprain, though it's unclear how much time he will miss, if any. While Neal may not be the team's only rushing option in his teammate's absence, New Orleans began working him in on passing downs a few weeks ago, notching at least three receptions in three of his last four outings. If Kamara is inactive next Sunday, the 22-year-old would be in a smash spot against a sieve-like Dolphins' rush defense.

Nov 22 11:10am CT

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal logged four carries for 22 yards and reeled in all three of his targets for nine yards in the Week 10 victory against the Panthers. Over his last two games, Neal has recorded seven rushes for 33 yards along with four receptions for 10 yards. Despite his low usage while backing up Alvin Kamara, Neal averages 4.3 yards per carry, which leads all running backs on the Saints. His role could increase this week, as Kamara is listed as questionable with an ankle injury for the third straight game. While Kamara has yet to miss a game, if he's forced to sit this one out, Neal will have RB2 upside against a Falcons defense allowing 138.5 rushing yards per game, 28th in the league.

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal logged three carries for 11 yards and caught his lone target for one yard in the Week 9 loss to the Rams. With Alvin Kamara officially questionable due to an ankle injury ahead of Week 10, Neal could be in line for additional work. The rookie was a sixth-round pick after an impressive career at Kansas, where he set program records with 4,343 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns. However, he's seen limited action in the NFL, totalling just six carries for 21 yards and four receptions for 12 yards. Even if he draws the start against the Panthers, Neal should remain on waivers in most formats, though he could hold deep-league appeal if Kamara is sidelined.

Nov 4 3:20pm CT

New Orleans Saints rookie running back Devin Neal has seen an uptick in snaps over the past two weeks with Kendre Miller (knee) out for the season. Neal played 39% of the snaps in the Saints' Week 9 loss at the Rams, handling three carries for 11 yards and catching one of four targets for one yard. The sixth-round rookie out of Kansas has now played a combined 49 snaps in Weeks 8 and 9, but has only seven total touches. Neal was also outcarried by Taysom Hill, who rushed for 30 yards on four carries. Veteran Alvin Kamara (ankle) was questionable heading into Sunday after being limited in practice all week, and he also saw a season-low seven touches. The Saints played from behind for the majority of this game, and it was disappointing to see Neal not be emphasized more. The rookie still feels like the best handcuff option in New Orleans, but it's a bleak offensive situation, and Hill will presumably stay involved. Neal can likely be left on waivers for Week 10.

Nov 1 9:50am CT

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal could be in line for more action against the Rams in Week 9, with starter Alvin Kamara questionable due to an ankle injury. Although offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said Kamara is "trending in the right direction," his snap share has fluctuated throughout the season and hit a season-low 51% last week. The Saints rank 28th in the league with just 93.6 rushing yards per game, so they may be searching for a spark on the ground. Neal has managed only 21 yards on six touches this season and, even if Kamara is limited, remains off the fantasy radar for now.

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal didn't have a carry in Week 8, but he played almost half of the team's offensive snaps, logging 33 snaps compared to 37 for veteran Alvin Kamara. He was the clear second running back this week, following the loss of Kendre Miller (knee) for the season in Week 7 against the Bears. The sixth-round rookie from Kansas did haul in all three of his targets for 11 yards in his first opportunities as a receiver out of the backfield. While he only had three carries for 10 yards all season, he is clearly the next man up for the Saints, which could make him extremely important for fantasy if the team decides to trade Alvin Kamara. If you are in a deep league and looking to get ahead of a rush to the waiver wire, stashing Neal is a move that makes sense. He could get more of a chance to audition for a role in the young offense even if Kamara sticks around, so he makes sense to at least monitor in all leagues when the Saints face the Rams in Week 9.

Oct 25 2:10pm CT

New Orleans Saints rookie running back Devin Neal has seen very limited usage so far this season, recording just three carries for 10 yards in the three games he's been active for. However, with Saints back Kendre Miller (knee) suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 7, Neal now slots into the team's RB2 role behind veteran Alvin Kamara. Before getting injured, Miller had recorded at least nine touches in four consecutive games. There's no guarantee that Neal will assume the same workload that Miller had. However, there's no question that Neal's role in the offense will grow to some degree. The Saints have a tough matchup in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are allowing just 3.9 yards per carry. That makes Neal tough to trust for fantasy managers in Week 8. Still, Neal could be a player worth stashing in deep leagues for his season-long upside.

Oct 24 3:20pm CT

New Orleans Saints rookie running back Devin Neal is expected to see more work after Kendre Miller's season-ending ACL injury. Neal will now slide in as the team's No. 2 running back behind veteran Alvin Kamara. The 2025 sixth-round pick from Kansas missed time in training camp with a hamstring injury, which set him back and allowed Miller to run away with the No. 2 running back duties. Neal suited up and played seven offensive snaps in Week 1, but then served as a healthy inactive for the next four weeks. The rookie again played only seven snaps on offense in Week 7 against the Bears, but caught the eyes of head coach Kellen Moore with an impressive rep in pass protection. Neal has been continually praised by his teammates for his intelligence, which bodes well for his chances of seeing more opportunities. He's a good player to stash as a handcuff in 12-team leagues.

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal could be in line for a significant role moving forward with Kendre Miller (knee) out for the season. Neal has just three rushes for 10 yards on the season and has only been active for three of the Saints' seven games so far. The rookie is now set to serve as the RB2 behind veteran Alvin Kamara, who praised Neal as "one of the smartest rookies that I've been around."The sixth-round pick out of Kansas was a workhorse in college, rushing for over 1,200 yards in each of his final two seasons and showing his receiving ability with 49 catches over that span. He's worth an add off the waiver wire in 12-team leagues to stash as a handcuff.

Oct 8 12:00am CT

New Orleans Saints rookie running back Devin Neal was inactive for the fourth straight game in Week 5 against the Giants. Neal suited up for the first time in Week 1 against the Cardinals and handled two carries for seven yards. In total, he played seven offensive snaps and four snaps on special teams. The rookie out of Kansas was able to earn two touches in his NFL debut, but has been a healthy scratch since. With the emergence of third-year back Kendre Miller and veteran Alvin Kamara holding things down, Neal has been relegated to a distant depth role.

Sep 17 10:40am CT

New Orleans Saints rookie running back Devin Neal did not record a touch in Week 2 and appears to be the clear RB3 in New Orleans behind Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller. The Saints are averaging 114 rushing yards per game as a team through the first two weeks of the season, but it does not appear that Neal will be a regular contributor in the run game without an injury to one of the backs ahead of him on the depth chart. Neal still has some value as a stash play in dynasty leagues, but he should not be on the radar of redraft managers for the time being.

From RotoBaller

Aug 30 10:00am CT

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal is listed fourth on the team's depth chart, but still made the most of his limited preseason opportunities. The sixth-round pick out of Kansas was sidelined with a hamstring injury for a large chunk of training camp, preventing him from winning the backup job to Alvin Kamara. Kendre Miller earned that role, relegating Neal to fight for touches with converted wide receiver and special teams player Velus Jones Jr. Neal impressed head coach Kellen Moore and backup quarterback Tyler Shough in his lone preseason appearance (seven touches for 30 yards), and the team parted ways with Clyde Edwards-Helaire shortly after. It will take an injury or two for Neal to receive meaningful touches on what could be the league's worst offense. He doesn't need to be drafted in standard-sized redraft leagues this season.
