Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai continues to prove that he deserves more run next to D'Andre Swift in the team's backfield. In the Bears' 24-15 win over the hosting Philadelphia Eagles on Black Friday, Monangai dominated on the ground and led the team with 22 rushing attempts for 130 yards and a touchdown. The 23-year-old was unable to haul in his only target in the passing game. The only other time that the seventh-rounder had 20-plus carries in 2025 was back on Nov. 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals when Swift was sidelined due to injury. Swift was no slouch on Friday, either, rushing 18 times for 125 yards and a TD of his own. Monangai's fantasy stock is definitely on the rise, but the volume he saw on Friday should be considered an outlier. He'll be more of a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex going into a tough Week 14 matchup against the division-rival Green Bay Packers.

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai out-snapped D'Andre Swift 34 to 26 in Week 12's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Monangai finished with 12 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown in the game, while Swift had eight carries for 15 yards with one reception (one target) for 14 yards. That decision was impacted by Swift losing a fumble, but it could lead to more opportunities for Monangai in future weeks. It was the first game all season where the rookie seventh-rounder played more snaps than Swift, with both players active. Monangai seemingly has the upper hand in goal-line work as well, recording a team-high five carries inside the 10-yard line over the past three weeks and finding the end zone in three straight games. He carries FLEX value with solid touchdown upside for Black Friday's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai has found the endzone in three straight weeks, as he continues to carve out a role in this Bears' backfield. In Week 12, Monangai had 12 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown in the 31-28 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Monangai surpassed Swift in both usage and snap share, playing 57% of the snaps compared to Swift's 43%. Even though those numbers were inflated due to a costly fumble by Swift, it will be an interesting storyline to watch in Week 13 against the Philadelphia Eagles. This Eagles run defense has been middle-of-the-pack against running backs this season, regressing from their top-tier rank in 2024. Monangai offers FLEX value in Week 13, whose fantasy value likely hinges on whether the rookie can find the end zone for a fourth consecutive game.

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai recorded 12 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown in his team's 31-28 Week 12 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. After veteran Bears back D'Andre Swift coughed up a fumble early in the game against Pittsburgh, Monangai worked as the team's feature back for much of the remainder of the contest. There's no question that the 23-year-old is emerging as a key piece in the Bears' offense. Monangai has now scored a rushing touchdown in three straight weeks. For the season overall, he's recorded 461 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 99 carries. While Swift should be expected to remain the passing-downs back in Chicago, Monangai may be establishing himself as the team's preferred early-down and goal-line option. In any fantasy league with 12 or more teams where he remains available, Monangai should be a priority waiver-wire target heading into a Week 13 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nov 22 8:50am CT

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai has found the endzone in back-to-back weeks and continues to be a factor in this offense. Since Week 7, Monangai has averaged 76.2 scrimmage yards per game and has scored three touchdowns in those five games. While his role has shrunk since the return of D'Andre Swift, Monangai continues to produce and find the endzone. However, without a key receiving role and a limited snap share (39%), Monangai is very risky entering a tough Week 12 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This Steelers defense has allowed the eighth fewest fantasy points to running backs this season and hasn't allowed two running backs on the same team to total over 35 rushing yards in a game. While Monangai is performing well, the seventh-round pick is a high-risk RB3 in Week 12.

Nov 20 9:20pm CT

Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai has been able to remain on the fantasy radar by putting together a two-game touchdown streak. His volume has been reduced since D'Andre Swift returned to action, as the rookie has 19 carries for just 2.7 yards per carry over his last two games, plus a 14-yard reception. However, he has posted at least 8.8 fantasy points in each of those contests by finding the end zone. While Monangai is certainly not guaranteed to score a touchdown every week, he does have goal-line upside, perhaps filling a David Montgomery-esque role in Chicago's Ben Johnson-led offense. Even as Swift leads the backfield in snaps and touches as a fantasy RB2, Monangai has shown that he can be a weekly RB3/flex. The rookie is worth starting in leagues with at least 12 teams ahead of Sunday's Week 12 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Nov 18 8:50am CT

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai has now scored touchdowns in back-to-back weeks as he's earned more work behind starter D'Andre Swift. Monangai was still the clear No.2 back in Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings, handling 13 touches for 37 yards compared to Swift with 21 for 90, but the rookie is getting valuable touches on the goal line. The 23-year-old has outcarried Swift three to two inside the 10-yard line in the past two weeks. While Monangai doesn't have the explosiveness to break off long runs, he has standalone value as long as he maintains the work down near the goal line and mixes in with Swift occasionally. Monangai is one of the top handcuffs in fantasy and should be added off the waiver wire in most leagues if available.

Chicago's RB Kyle Monangai averaged a dreadful 1.9 yards per carry on 12 attempts in Sunday's game in Minnesota. He did score one touchdown in the win.

Nov 16 10:30am CT

Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai will face an unfavorable matchup while operating out of a split backfield during Sunday's Week 11 contest against the Minnesota Vikings. Monangai has impressed in his rookie season, tallying 390 rushing yards, 83 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. He's also two weeks removed from a 29-touch, 198-yard outing with D'Andre Swift sidelined. Now, though, Swift is healthy, and the two seem to have joint roles in the Bears' backfield. This is conducive to fantasy scoring against weaker opponents, but against a team like the Vikings, it might render Monangai tough to trust in lineups. Monangai had just seven carries for 28 yards last week, salvaging his outing with a touchdown, and now, he'll face a Vikings defense allowing the 11th-fewest fantasy points and third-fewest receiving yards to opposing running backs in 2025. Monangai is a low-end RB3/flex in deeper formats, and he can be benched in leagues with 12 or fewer teams.

Nov 15 11:20am CT

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai has been able to carve out a role in this Bears backfield. In his rookie season, Monangai has had 75 carries for 390 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 83 yards on nine receptions through the air. Despite being mostly undrafted in fantasy leagues this season, the 2025 seventh-round pick has stepped up as a key piece for fantasy teams. However, his streak of facing easy matchups comes to an end this week, as the Minnesota Vikings have allowed the 13th fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. They have been as good as any in the last few weeks, holding Derrick Henry and Jahmyr Gibbs to under double-digit fantasy points in back-to-back weeks. With Swift healthy and a capped ceiling in this matchup, Monangai is a low-end RB3 in Week 11, and a player that should be on benches this week.

Nov 14 10:20am CT

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai slid back into a secondary role in the team's backfield last weekend with the return of teammate D'Andre Swift (hip) from a one-game absence. The New Jersey native showed out back in Week 9 with a 29-touch, 198-yard performance while Swift dealt with a hip injury. However, the former saw his workload scale back significantly as the latter resumed his role as lead back in their win over the Giants. Monangai would catapult in the rankings if Swift were ever made to miss more time, although, as it stands, he'll still boast some standalone value as a low-end RB3 asset. While both backs will be in play during Week 11's matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, Monangai loses some ceiling with Swift in the picture.

Nov 11 9:40am CT

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai enjoyed a breakout game in the first start of his career in Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals, recording 198 total yards on 29 touches. With starter D'Andre Swift returning in Week 10, Monangai was still a part of the offense, but took a backseat to Swift as he continues to run well this season. The rookie seventh-rounder played 39.1% of the snaps and had seven carries for 28 yards in Chicago's Week 10 win over the Giants. Swift, on the other hand, played 60.9% of the snaps and handled 18 touches for 98 yards from scrimmage. The 60-40 split could be how head coach Ben Johnson manages the backfield moving forward, with Swift enjoying a resurgent season and Monangai serving as a physical, downhill back to complement Swift. Monangai remains a must roster player due to his upside when Swift is out and holds standalone value as a flex play for Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Nov 9 7:10am CT

Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai put himself on the map with a tremendous performance against the Cincinnati Bengals last week. Monangai rushed a season-high 26 times for 176 yards on the ground. He didn't stop there as hauled in three of his five targets for 22 additional yards through the air. It's worth noting that the increased workload was due to D'Andre Swift (groin) being unavailable to play. Swift currently holds a questionable tag for Week 10. That being said, Monangai could be in line for another large workload against the struggling New York Giants defense in Week 10. If Swift is active, Monangai should still offer RB3 value. However, Monanagi is a legitimate RB1 play if Swift is unable to go. Fantasy managers will need to check back closer to kick-off for another update.

Nov 7 5:10pm CT

Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai (ankle) is ready to go ahead of the Week 10 matchup against the New York Giants. Monangai was limited to begin the week due to an ankle issue. However, the rookie back was able to get in back-to-back full practice sessions to clear him for this weekend. Last week, Monangai rushed 26 times for 176 yards, while hauling in three receptions for 22 yards in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Fellow back D'Andre Swift (groin) still remains uncertain for this weekend. If they both play, head coach Ben Johnson said he'd likely ride the hot hand to determine the workload. This could end up as a frustrating situation for fantasy managers.

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai (ankle) was able to practice in full on Thursday after being limited with an ankle injury on Wednesday, according to The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain. Monangai is on track to be available this weekend for a Week 10 tilt against the visiting New York Giants, but the 23-year-old's fantasy value will take a sizeable hit if D'Andre Swift (groin) can return after missing the Week 9 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Swift upgraded to a full practice on Thursday, suggesting he's on track to play against New York. Monangai broke out in the lead-back role for Chicago last Sunday, totaling 198 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on his 29 touches. Even if Swift returns, Monangai is a strong handcuff option for fantasy managers, and he could even carve out some RB3/flex appeal going forward if the Bears get him more involved alongside Swift moving forward.

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice session. It's unclear when or how Monangai picked up the injury, but it will be one to monitor in the coming days. The rookie out of Rutgers put up a monstrous performance in his spot start for an injured D'Andre Swift (groin) in Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals, recording 198 total yards from scrimmage on 29 touches in a 47-42 win. Swift was also listed as limited in Wednesday's practice, potentially signaling that he will only miss one game. But Monangai certainly earned more reps with his standout game, as he led all running backs in Week 9 with +59 rushing yards over expectation, per NFL Pro. Both Bears' running backs' practice statuses will be worth watching over the next two days.
