Brissett was the top backup for the Commanders last year and played well when given the chance. He sparked the offense in the three games played. Brissett completed 78.3 percent of his passes and scored three touchdowns without throwing an interception. Brissett is a valuable NFL backup. He has starting experience and success in that role. Plus, he can be used in special packages, as evidenced by the last few seasons. He signed with the Patriots this offseason and seems likely to be the starter to open the season until rookie Drake Maye is ready. Brissett is a top athlete who can make all the throws. He moves around the pocket well and can make plenty of plays with his feet when needed. He struggles with accuracy down the field at times and doesn't take a lot of chances for the big play.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: If he opens the season as the starter for the Patriots, Brissett might be worth a few starts for fantasy teams. He can make plays with his legs and has a knack for finding the end zone.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye and QB Jacoby Brissett will compete for the starting quarterback job during offseason workouts as well as training camp and the best quarterback will start Week 1, according to head coach Jerod Mayo.
Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players can monitor the situation to see if Maye is ready to step in right away and win the job. Maye has more fantasy value than Brissett, but both can be considered No. 2 fantasy quarterbacks at this point.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett could absolutely be the team's starting QB next season, according to head coach Jerod Mayo. The Patriots don't have much to offer in the quarterback department right now, which gives Brissett a strong chance. Brissett began his career with the Patriots after being taken by them in the 3rd round of the 2016 Draft. Since then, Brissett has bounced around quite a bit. He has started on multiple teams but seems to lose the starting job as quickly as he gets it. His only competition right now is Bailey Zappe, so Brissett is likely to start right now. However, there is a strong chance that the Patriots use the No. 3 overall pick in the draft to select a franchise quarterback. That being said, Brissett might start the season under center until the rookie is ready to take over.

New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett could 'absolutely' be the starter in 2023, according to head coach Jared Mayo on Sunday, March 24.
Fantasy Spin: It's more likely that the Patriots will select a quarterback at No. 3 overall despite them saying they are open to all options. Brissett would not hold any usable fantasy value if he's the starter.
From TheHuddle
Updating a previous report, free-agent QB Jacoby Brissett (Commanders) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New England Patriots Friday, March 15. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but an earlier report stated it is a one-year contract worth $8 million.
From TheHuddle
The New England Patriots plan to sign veteran free-agent quarterback Jacoby Brissett this week, according to a source. When the teams eventually agree to terms, Brissett is expected to be added for one year and $8 million. It's a reunion in New England for the 31-year-old signal-caller, who was originally taken in the third round by the Patriots in 2016. For now, Brissett will be atop New England's QB depth chart, although a rookie QB that the team takes with the third overall pick in the upcoming draft could quickly unseat Brissett if he proves worthy. Brissett has bounced around the league and has played for five different teams in his eight NFL seasons. He had his best year in 2019 with the Colts, throwing for 2,942 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions in 15 starts. At best, Brissett is going to be a low-end QB2 option in superflex leagues if he's the Patriots starter in 2024.

Impending free-agent QB Jacoby Brissett (Commanders) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New England Patriots Monday, March 11, worth $8 million, according to a source.
Fantasy Spin: There is a chance that Brissett will start the season as the starting quarterback next season if they do not want to rush a rookie quarterback into the lineup. He could be a low-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback in deeper leagues but probably can be avoided in most leagues since he may not start for long.
From TheHuddle
The New England Patriots have "real" interest in Washington Commanders impending free-agent quarterback Jacoby Brissett. The Patriots are expected to have competition for him if they sign him, but offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt loved coaching Brissett with the Cleveland Browns in 2022, and the Patriots view the veteran signal-caller as a great locker-room guy who is all about football. In addition to adding a veteran QB like Brissett, the Pats are expected to take a rookie QB with the third overall pick in this year's draft. The 31-year-old was also a third-round pick by the Pats in 2016. He appeared in 16 games (11 starts) in 2022 with Cleveland and threw for 2,608 yards, 12 TDs and six interceptions while completing 64% of his passes. At best, Brissett would be a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues if he's signed by New England and starts games in 2024.

Impending free-agent QB Jacoby Brissett (Commanders) is expected to draw the interest of a few teams in free agency, but the New England Patriots' interest in him appears to be 'real,' according to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe. Brissett was a third-round draft pick of the Patriots in 2016.

NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay writes that he's getting the vibe that a lot of the Washington Commanders' veterans will be rested in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday. The Commanders aren't in playoff contention and have nothing to play for besides draft positioning and spoiling the Cowboys' shot at the NFC East title. Quarterback Sam Howell will close out the year starting under center with Jacoby Brissett (hamstring) still injured, but players like receiver Curtis Samuel (hamstring), who didn't practice on Thursday, could be held out in the final game of the season. We'll pass along any concrete news we have on specific players that may be held out of action this weekend for the Commanders if it comes along. On offense, Samuel is the most likely player to be rested.

Washington Commanders DL Jonathan Allen (knee), CB Tariq Castro-Fields (shoulder), DB Kendall Fuller (knee) and CB Christian Holmes (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Also, QB Jacoby Brissett (hamstring), DB Jartavius Martin (chest), DL John Ridgeway (foot), CB Benjamin St-Juste (concussion) and OG Andrew Wylie (elbow) were limited and S Kamren Curl (quadriceps), WR Curtis Samuel (hamstring) and LB Casey Toohill (shoulder) practiced in full.
From TheHuddle
Washington Commanders QB Jacoby Brissett (hamstring) was limited in practice on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
Fantasy Spin: Brissett was in line to start in Week 17 before suffering a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the game. Head coach Ron Rivera has already named Sam Howell the starter for Week 18, thus Brissett can be ignored.
From TheHuddle
The Washington Commanders will name their starting quarterback for Week 18 on Wednesday, Jan. 3, head coach Ron Rivera said on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Fantasy Spin: After being named the starter last week, Jacoby Brissett came down with an injury that led to Sam Howell getting the nod. But the second-year signal-caller continued his streak of poor performances, which will put an ugly cap on what was a solid sophomore campaign for Howell, who ranked as QB4 overall through Week 13. He needs to be held in dynasty formats, as there's hope for him in the future if the Commanders can get things right with a new regime in 2024.
From TheHuddle
Washington Commanders QB Jacoby Brissett (hamstring) has been declared inactive for the Week 17 game.
Fantasy Spin: Brissett was on track to start this week but the injury during practice will sideline him for at least one game. Sam Howell will return as the starting quarterback but should be avoided in all leagues.
From TheHuddle
Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell will start Week 17's game versus the San Francisco 49ers, according to a source. QB Jake Fromm will serve as the second-string quarterback, while QB Jacoby Brissett (hamstring) will be inactive as the team's third quarterback.
Fantasy Spin: The Commanders did not want to make an official decision on their starting quarterback for this afternoon until after Brissett had participated in pregame warmups Sunday, Dec. 31, although there wasn't much doubt that Howell was going to receive the starting nod. Howell is not a recommended starting option in any fantasy format, given his recent poor play and the tough matchup against the 49ers defense.
From TheHuddle
Washington Commanders quarterback Jacoby Brissett (hamstring) is officially inactive for Week 17 versus the San Francisco 49ers. He was initially expected to make his first start of the season this Sunday, but a hamstring injury that initially rendered him questionable will ultimately keep him sidelined against the NFC's top team. Being inactive will make Brissett the team's emergency No. 3 quarterback, meaning he could enter the game if both Sam Howell and Jake Fromm are injured. Howell, of course, will draw his 16th start of the season. He has produced mixed results this year but could benefit from a pass-heavy attack against a 49ers secondary that has allowed 241.1 passing yards and 1.1 passing touchdowns per game. Fantasy managers should view Howell as a low-end QB2 option this week.
From RotoBaller
Washington Commanders QB Jacoby Brissett (hamstring) remains unlikely to play in Week 17's game versus the San Francisco 49ers but the team wants to see how he feels in pregame warmups Sunday, Dec. 31, before making a final decision on their starting quarterback, according to a source. QB Sam Howell would receive the start if Brissett does not play.
Fantasy Spin: In the unlikely event that Brissett is deemed ready to start this afternoon, he would only be worthy of lineup consideration in deeper two-quarterback fantasy leagues. If Howell gets the starting nod, he would not be a recommended option due to recent poor play and a difficult matchup against the San Francisco defense.
