Atlanta Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson ranked fifth among running backs - with at least 50 targets - with a 12.5 percent target share, first with 220 intended air yards, first with 156 completed air yards, first in average depth of target (3.2), third in receiving first downs (26), second in receiving first-down percentage (50) and second in receiver rating (116.1) in 2021, according to Sports Info Solutions.
Fantasy Spin: Patterson lined up in the slot 65 times and out wide 97 times, which is high for a running back and obviously gives him an opportunity to post some of these marks. With that said, some of these numbers were well ahead of the competition. The 3.2-yard average depth of target was a full yard ahead of second-place Nyheim Hines and the completed air yards was more than four times higher than second-place Ty Johnson. Patterson is due to take a hit through the air as he goes from Matt Ryan to Marcus Mariota, but his usage figures to remain roughly the same. At worst, he should retain flex value in 2022.

Atlanta Falcons running back Cordarrelle Patterson will be the team's starting running back this year after he led the team with 153 carries and 618 yards in 2021, but he had only 71 rushing yards in the last four games and averaged 2.3 yards per carry in that span. The Athletic's Josh Kendall writes that it's overly optimistic to expect Patterson to be fully available to carry a full load at RB this year. The 10-year veteran took all of the spring workouts off, and the Falcons will likely continue taking it slow with him in training camp and the preseason. He's 31 and coming off his most active NFL season -- he had 205 combined catches and carries in 2021, with his previous career-high at 85 in 2020. Don't pay for last year's production in fantasy. Patterson should be an RB3/flex target.

Atlanta Falcons RBs Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson are expected to serve as the team's top two running backs to begin the season, according to ESPN.com's Michael Rothstein.
Fantasy Spin: Rothstein leaves Damien Williams off his 53-man roster projection. The initial plan likely has Patterson serving as the primary back on clear passing downs and mixing in on early downs, while Allgeier handles most of the early-down and short-yardage work. Patterson is unlikely to enjoy near the fantasy value with Marcus Mariota or Desmond Ridder that he did with Matt Ryan, but both backs could make up for it a bit on the ground considering both quarterbacks will make defenses respect them in the running game.

The Atlanta Falcons are holding running back/wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson out of the team's mandatory minicamp this week, according to head coach Arthur Smith. "He's working on a vet offseason program to build him up," Smith said. "He's here. He wanted to work. Myself and our performance staff, we have a different plan for Cordarrelle. I'm not going to crank him up for two days. We need him ready to go on July 26." Patterson was easily the team's best offensive weapon in 2021, rushing for 618 yards and six touchdowns on 153 carries while catching 52 of 69 targets for 548 more yards and five TDs. It'll be tough to replicate those numbers this year, especially with Marcus Mariota now under center for Atlanta. Don't overspend for Patterson. He's best utilized as a low-end RB3/flex option in PPR setups.

Atlanta Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson won't participate during minicamp due to a coach's decision, head coach Arthur Smith said Tuesday, June 14. Smith said they want to be smart with Patterson to keep him fresh for the regular season.
From TheHuddle
Atlanta Falcons running back/wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson decided to skip the team's voluntary organized team activities this offseason after re-signing on a two-year deal. Patterson had a career year in 2021 with Atlanta, rushing for 618 yards and also tacking on 548 receiving yards. "This is voluntary," head coach Arthur Smith said. "We respect that." Mike Davis is gone in the Falcons backfield, but they've added Damien Williams to help spell Patterson, who should once again be the team's primary backfield weapon in 2022. Patterson will be the best fantasy option in Atlanta yet again on offense, but don't expect a repeat of his career season after the Falcons downgraded at QB to Marcus Mariota.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Falcons running back Cordarrelle Patterson emerged as an elite fantasy option last season, primarily because of his versatility in playing multiple positions. Yet, Atlanta Falcons reporter Michael Rothstein believes the veteran may play most of his snaps as a wideout during the 2022-23 campaign. The 31-year-old had 618 rushing yards, 548 receiving yards, and 11 total touchdowns last season. However, as the team grows even more desperate for help on the receiving end, it may be a sensible move, especially for a player who's getting up there in age, at least by NFL standards. Still, with Matt Ryan no longer on the roster, Patterson could see a substantial drop in production, although he should have some impactful outings throughout the year.

Free-agent RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson (Falcons) reportedly agreed to terms on a two-year contract worth $10.5 million to return to the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday, March 19.
Fantasy Spin: Atlanta and head coach Arthur Smith were able to figure out how to use Patterson in his age-30 season last year and he rewarded the team with 1,166 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns as a part-time running back and part-time receiver. While the Falcons could always add another body to the backfield in the draft, a return to Atlanta was probably best for Patterson's fantasy prospects. Although it is unlikely he will be able to match last year's touchdown efficiency, there's a good chance he will be the lead back in Atlanta and serve as a solid flex option in fantasy in 2022.
From TheHuddle
Free-agent RB Cordarrelle Patterson (Falcons) agreed to terms to re-sign with the Atlanta Falcons on an undisclosed deal Saturday, March 19, per sources.
Fantasy Spin: Patterson is a risky RB2 in PPR leagues and is likely in for a downturn after a career season.
From TheHuddle
The Atlanta Falcons agreed to re-sign wide receiver/running back Cordarrelle Patterson on an undisclosed deal on Saturday, according to a source. The Falcons keep a key offensive piece who is coming off career-highs in touches (205), yards from scrimmage (1,166) and touchdowns (11) in 2021. Most people thought Patterson would become too expensive for the Falcons to retain after his best season in the NFL, but he'll be back for at least one more season. The 31-year-old should see the majority of backfield touches in 2022 alongside Mike Davis, barring an addition at the position through the draft. Patterson carried the ball 153 times for 618 yards and six touchdowns, adding 52 receptions for 548 yards and five more scores. TD regression is likely coming, but Patterson should be a valuable RB in PPR leagues yet again.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent RB Cordarrelle Patterson is a player that owner Arthur Blank hopes to re-sign this offseason.
Fantasy Spin: Patterson was a productive player for most of the 2021 season but did finish the season on a cold streak. He will be involved in the running and passing game if he returns to the Falcons and can be considered a No. 3 running back in most fantasy leagues.
From TheHuddle
Atlanta Falcons RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson has mutual interest in returning to the Falcons next season, and team owner Arthur Blank hopes to retain him.
Fantasy Spin: To do what he did at age 30 is borderline amazing. He had 618 rushing yards, 548 receiving yards and 11 total touchdowns - all career highs. He'll be an RB2 with some risk involved next year.
