Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce should not be started in any format in Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns. Pierce is coming off the lowest usage game of his career, playing just four snaps. Last week, the second-year back totaled just one carry for three yards. The Texans' running back has found himself falling on the depth chart with Devin Singletary and Dare Ogunbowale playing more snaps than him in both of the past two games. Pierce can not be trusted in Week 16.

Dec 18 3:00pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce rushed just one time for three yards and did not draw a target in the Week 15 win over the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, Devin Singletary handled 30 total touches and racked up 170 yards. Pierce saw just five touches the week prior against the New York Jets, so Singletary has clearly taken over the lead back role. Needless to say, Pierce can be safely benched against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16, and his outlook moving forward is concerning in redraft and dynasty leagues.

Dec 16 1:40pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce should not be started in most formats in Week 15 against the Tennessee Titans. Pierce is coming off the lowest usage game of his career, finishing with just five touches for seven yards. On top of that, the second-year back played just eight snaps last week. The Texans could lean on the run even more this weekend with C.J. Stroud (concussion) trending toward out. But the young running back is too hard to trust in fantasy in Week 15, especially since he saw fewer snaps than Dare Ogunbowale just one week ago.

Dec 10 10:40pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce continued to struggle in the team's 30-6 loss against the New York Jets in Week 14. Pierce ran just four times for nine yards in the contest as Devin Singletary took over Houston's backfield once again. Singletary totaled more carries (13) and rush yards (65) in the game. The veteran also got the team's lone goal-line carry, which resulted in a touchdown. Pierce has had a rough second season in the NFL and appears to be the Texans' backup at the moment. He'll look to get things going next week on the road against the Tennessee Titans.

Dec 9 6:10pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce is a flex option in Week 14 against the New York Jets. Last week, Pierce secured his first touchdown since Week 3 to go with 15 carries for 41 yards. It's been a disappointing second year for the 23-year-old. But he'll have a chance to get going this weekend against a Jets defense that is allowing the ninth-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season. With heavy rains and wind expected in this matchup, the Texans could rely on the run more than usual on Sunday.

Dec 3 10:40pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce scored his second touchdown of the season in the team's 22-17 win over the Denver Broncos in Week 13. Pierce ran 15 times for 41 yards and one score on Sunday, marking his most carries since Week 5. The young running back scored on a three-yard run late in the first quarter to extend Houston's lead. The 23-year-old back dealt with an ankle injury just a couple of weeks ago that caused him to miss three games. But that ankle appeared to be fully healed in Week 13. He'll look to carry that momentum next week on the road against the New York Jets.

Dec 2 2:50pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce will look to get going on the ground in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos. Pierce returned to action last week following a three-game absence due to an ankle injury. But in his return, he had just six touches for 18 yards on 11 snaps. He figures to get more touches this weekend against a Broncos defense that is allowing the most fantasy points per game to running backs this season. Even in a great matchup, though, Pierce will be hard to trust this week and is more of a low-end flex play in Week 13.

Nov 26 11:20pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce returned from a three-game absence in the team's 24-21 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars but failed to do much in the contest. Pierce ran just five times for 14 yards while catching only one pass for four yards on Sunday. The second-year back has struggled on the ground this season, which has opened the door for veteran Devin Singletary to earn more opportunities. Singletary had 12 touches for 72 yards in this game. The Texans' backfield has turned into a 50/50 split, and Pierce will look to get back on track next week at home against the Denver Broncos.

Nov 26 11:40am ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is officially active for the Week 12 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Pierce makes his return after missing the last three games with an ankle injury. Pierce got in some more work during practice this week and was expected to make his return this weekend. It's good news for the Texans, but fantasy managers that have Pierce shouldn't automatically throw him back into their starting lineups, depending on the rest of your options at the position. Devin Singletary was actually more effective in a lead-back role for Houston with Pierce sidelined, and the coaching staff basically said this week that they'd like to use a combination of Pierce and Singletary when they are both healthy. Pierce has averaged just 3.0 yards per carry and has just one touchdown through seven games in 2023.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is expected to return for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. The 23-year-old missed the Texans' previous three contests because of an ankle issue and entered the weekend riding a questionable designation. However, he practiced in full all week, so fantasy managers had expected him back all along. Nonetheless, it's possible Pierce could be eased back into the swing of things, meaning Devin Singletary could remain involved. Yet, a timeshare wouldn't be ideal for either man's fantasy potential. As a result, fantasy managers should consider other options if at all possible.

Nov 24 4:20pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) has been listed as questionable for Week 12 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars but is "trending toward being active," according to Aaron Wilson of KRPC. This update is hardly a surprise considering Pierce was a full participant in practice all week long. With that said, Devin Singletary has asserted himself as Houston's workhorse back since Pierce last saw the field in Week 8. As a result, Singletary could be in line to handle the bulk of snaps out of the backfield on Sunday. Managers should view Pierce as nothing more than a fringe top-36 running back in fantasy football.

Nov 24 12:40pm ET

Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik said that the team believes "wholeheartedly in sharing the load" when running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) comes back after missing the last three games with an ankle injury. Devin Singletary has been very effective as Houston's lead back in the last three games with Pierce sidelined, but Slowik added that Pierce was making strides before he got hurt. The 23-year-old second-year back has been a disappointment after a promising rookie campaign, as he's averaging 3.00 yards per carry on 109 rushing attempts over seven games in 2023. A backfield timeshare with Pierce and Singletary will be bad news for both of their fantasy values. Pierce is trending toward returning in Week 12 to face the Jacksonville Jaguars after practicing in full on Thursday.

Nov 22 1:50pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is back on the practice field on Wednesday. It's a good sign for Pierce, who has missed the last three games due to an ankle injury. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks this week, he should have a chance to return for a divisional clash this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the last three contests with Pierce sidelined, Devin Singletary has stepped up with 288 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 65 carries (4.43 yards per tote) while adding five catches for 17 yards through the air. Pierce could be susceptible to a fewer snaps if he's able to return in Week 12, which will make him a pretty shaky RB3/flex in fantasy lineups.

Dynasty | Texans running back Devin Singletary had 112 rushing yards and a touchdown in the Texans win against Arizona. Dynasty Analysis: That's back-to-back solid efforts for Singletary, who has used the Dameon Pierce injury to solidify himself as Houston's best running back, Even better, that's 52 carries the past two weeks, showing he can shoulder the load if needed. He'll likely move back to a committee back when things are said and done when Pierce returns but it would be a surprise to see him be the "1B" instead of the "1A" at this point.

Nov 17 3:50pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) returned to practice on Friday but is not expected to play in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, according to league sources. He's trending towards being back in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Pierce's frustrating sophomore season continues, as he will now miss his third straight game with his ankle injury. The 23-year-old was looking extremely impressive as a rookie before a season-ending injury, but he's averaging just 3.0 yards per carry and has one touchdown in seven games in 2023. Devin Singletary has become Houston's lead back with Pierce hurt and has seen 43 carries in the last two games, including a 30-carry, 150-yard, one-touchdown outburst in last week's win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Singletary will once again have RB2 upside this weekend against Arizona.

Nov 16 3:10pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) remains sidelined at practice again on Thursday. Pierce has yet to practice this week and is trending towards missing his third straight game. Fantasy managers should be getting ready to fire Devin Singletary up again as an RB2/3 after he exploded for a season-high 30 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The matchup is a nice one against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, too, so Singletary shouldn't be lingering on any waiver wires at this point with Pierce still hobbled. Pierce has one more day to get back on the practice field.

Nov 15 3:20pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is still absent from practice on Wednesday. Pierce is off to a bad start this week after already missing the last two games with an ankle injury. The 23-year-old is going to need to return to practice later this week to have a shot at suiting up in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals. And even if Pierce does return this weekend, his workload could be scaled back after Devin Singletary went off for 150 rushing yards in the surprising Week 10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Pierce has been a big disappointment in his second NFL season in 2023, averaging just 3.0 yards per carry on 109 rushing attempts for 327 yards and one touchdown in seven games played.

Nov 10 4:30pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. This was widely expected considering he hasn't been able to practice at all over the last two weeks. In his absence, the Texans will once again turn to Devin Singletary as their lead back. He totaled just 26 yards on 13 carries last week, but that was against an extremely good Buccaneers run defense. He could fare better against the Bengals, picking up more YPC while also seeing extra work in the passing attack. Fantasy managers should view Singletary as a fine RB3/FLEX play this weekend.

From RotoBaller

Nov 9 8:40pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) remained sidelined at practice for the second straight day on Thursday. After sitting out the Week 9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 23-year-old second-year back isn't looking good to be able to play this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. He will need to get in some work on Friday to have a shot at suiting up. Fantasy managers should have already been preparing as if Pierce will miss his second straight game. With Pierce out last week, Devin Singletary was Houston's lead back, but he didn't take advantage of the opportunity in a game where rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud did all the heavy lifting in the comeback win over Tampa. Singletary had a season-high 13 carries for just 26 yards and caught both of his targets for no gain.

From RotoBaller

Nov 8 3:00pm ET

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday ahead of the Week 10 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Pierce missed the Week 9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with an ankle injury, and his early-week practice status suggests he could be at risk of missing another game. If so, Devin Singletary would operate as the team's starter again in a natural matchup for running backs. However, Singletary posted just 26 total yards in a game in which the Texans scored 39 points, so he clearly has a low floor and limited upside.
