Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley set his season high for touches in a game last week against the Packers, carrying the ball four times and hauling in two catches. This resulted in 34 total yards, which is also his best in a single game this year. Philly's backfield has been tough to keep track of through the first 10 weeks, as Shipley, Tank Bigsby, and A.J. Dillon have rotated between the lead backup role behind Saquon Barkley. While Bigsby shined with over 100 rushing yards in Week 8, he got only 12.7% of offensive snaps against Green Bay compared to Shipley's 19%. Regardless of who gets the bulk going forward, Shipley is best left out of lineups this week against the Lions and should be rostered as a handcuff at best.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley has seen very limited usage so far in the 2025 season. Across six games played, the 23-year-old has recorded 39 yards from scrimmage on nine total touches. However, there may be an opportunity for playing time in Philadelphia's backfield after star running back Saquon Barkley (groin) was forced to exit early from the team's Week 8 win over the New York Giants due to a groin injury. The Eagles have their bye in Week 9, and there's been no indication from the team that Barkley will not be ready to play in Week 10 against the Green Bay Packers. Further complicating matters, Shipley may be behind Eagles running back Tank Bigsby, even if Barkley misses time. Still, Shipley is worthy of waiver-wire consideration until there's more clarity around Barkley's health status. Shipley should be rostered in all fantasy leagues with 10 or more teams.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley saw the bulk of snaps among his team's backup RBs last week, with A.J. Dillon being a surprising healthy scratch. While Dillon had been Saquon Barkley's main understudy for weeks, Shipley took over duties against the Vikings and was on the field for 16% of offensive snaps. Tank Bigsby was behind him with 8% of snaps. Still, Shipley only recorded a single catch for seven yards on his lone target and did not get any carries. He's currently listed above Dillon as the second RB on the depth chart, but he should only be rostered as a handcuff for now, if at all.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley (oblique) was listed as a full participant on the team's Friday injury report and appears ready to return to game action this weekend against the Buccaneers. This comes after Shipley missed Philly's last two contests with an oblique injury suffered against the Cowboys. In his absence, fellow back A.J. Dillon has seen minimal action, with three carries in Week 2 and none the week after. Tank Bigsby is still yet to record an offensive stat with his new team. In his last appearance, Shipley had just three carries as Saquon Barkley's understudy. So, it seems unlikely that his comeback will change much, and he'll continue to be used sparingly. He's a decent handcuff to keep on standby, but otherwise Shipley should not see fantasy lineups in Week 4.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley (oblique) was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's practice. Shipley injured his oblique in the Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys and did not play in Weeks 2 or 3. However, with a return to a full practice on Wednesday, the 23-year-old looks to be on track to play in a Week 4 tilt on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since he was injured, the Eagles acquired RB Tank Bigsby from the Jacksonville Jaguars, but Bigsby is still learning the offense and did not have a snap on offense in the Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Rams. If Shipley returns to action this Sunday, he'll most likely be sprinkled in alongside AJ Dillon in a change-of-pace role behind starter Saquon Barkley. It's more bad news for Bigsby, whose fantasy value has tanked with the trade to Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley (oblique) has been ruled out for the Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Shipley was able to get in a few limited practices this week, but it wasn't enough to clear him for game action. He'll miss his second straight game, but will hopefully return in Week 4. In the meantime, A.J. Dillon figures to serve as the primary backup to Saquon Barkley in the backfield. Tank Bigsby is also an option, but he didn't play at all last week. Honestly, neither back is going to offer streaming value with Barkley being the workhorse back in Philly right now.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley (rib/oblique) returned to practice Thursday for the first time since suffering his Week 1 injury. The second-year back flashed in the opener with three carries for 26 yards, showcasing his big-play potential before exiting. While Shipley logged just 30 carries as a rookie, his role behind Saquon Barkley is expected to expand this season. If he can stay healthy, Shipley profiles as the primary change-of-pace option in Philadelphia's backfield and a valuable handcuff for fantasy managers rostering Barkley.

Sep 17 2:40pm CT

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley (oblique) remains out of practice on Wednesday as the team begins preparations for Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic. Shipley suffered an oblique injury in the season-opening win over the Dallas Cowboys and was inactive for the Week 2 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl rematch. Since the 23-year-old's injury in Week 1, the Eagles went out and acquired Tank Bigsby in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars for additional backfield depth behind starter Saquon Barkley. In addition to Bigsby, Philly also has AJ Dillon as an option at the position, so when Shipley is healthy enough to return to the field, he figures to take on a smaller role as a change-of-pace option behind Barkley.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley (oblique) has been ruled out for their Week 2 contest against the Kansas City Chiefs due to an oblique injury. Shipley was held out of practice during the entire week and will set his sights on returning in Week 3 when the Eagles host the Los Angeles Rams. The second-year running back suffered this injury during the first half of their season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Before exiting, Shipley took three carries for 26 yards. Fantasy managers should expect the newly-acquired Tank Bigsby to serve as the No. 2 option behind workhorse Saquon Barkley this weekend. When Shipley returns, he may face competition for the No. 2 job. As a result, he is only worth stashing in as a low-upside handcuff in deeper 16+ team leagues for the time being.

Sep 9 12:20pm CT

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley (rib) reportedly suffered a fractured rib in the season-opening win over the Dallas Cowboys last Thursday, according to sources. This makes Monday's acquisition of RB Tank Bigsby from the Jacksonville Jaguars make more sense, but in addition to depth behind starter Saquon Barkley, Bigsby can also help the Eagles out on special teams as a kickoff returner. It's unclear how much time Shipley will miss, but he probably will not be able to suit up in Week 2 in a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs, and when he does return, he may no longer be the direct backup to Barkley. The 23-year-old only carried the ball three times for 26 yards in Week 1 before he suffered his fractured rib on a kick return late in the first half. In addition to Bigsby, the Eagles have AJ Dillon as backfield depth.

Sep 4 11:00pm CT

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley (ribs) exited during the third quarter of Thursday night's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. He is officially listed as questionable. Shipley left the field with his teammates when Thursday's game entered a weather delay, but he did not return to the field when the game resumed. It's a tough loss for Philadelphia, as Shipley was highly efficient when he was on the field, totaling 26 rushing yards on just three carries. In his absence, A.J. Dillon will operate as the direct backup to superstar Saquon Barkley.

Sep 2 3:40pm CT

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley comes into his second NFL season serving as backup to star RB Saquon Barkley. Shipley started the Eagles' first preseason game, finished as the leading rusher after just one quarter of play, then didn't see the field again for the next two weeks. All evidence points to him being the clear number two option out of the Philly backfield. While Shipley may not be the flashiest fantasy option, he could present himself as a valuable bench asset for managers, especially given Barkley's somewhat worrying injury history. He's rostered in just 18% of Sleeper leagues and sits behind one of football's best offensive lines. Shipley isn't ready for fantasy lineups in Week 1 against the Cowboys, but managers should keep an eye on him as a strong handcuff that could win them at least a matchup or two if Barkley goes down.
