Carolina Panthers veteran wide receiver Hunter Renfrow will be a healthy scratch once again on Sunday as the team takes on the Green Bay Packers in Week 9 at Lambeau Field, according to Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer. It's the third straight week that Renfrow has been a healthy scratch, and it coincides with Jalen Coker's return from Injured Reserve. The 29-year-old did have seven catches for 48 yards and two touchdowns (his only two on the year) in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals back on Sept. 14, but he has done little else in his six games played with the team. Renfrow has 15 catches on his 26 targets for 89 yards and the two touchdowns in his first year with Carolina, and he's now buried on the WR depth chart behind Coker, rookie first-rounder Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, rookie Jimmy Horn Jr., and Brycen Tremayne.

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow is a healthy scratch for their Week 8 contest against the Buffalo Bills. Renfrow had a prominent role in the Carolina passing attack earlier in the campaign, but has seen his target share drop significantly. In Weeks 1 through 3, Renfrow saw 6.7 targets per game. However, in his last three games (Weeks 4 through 6), Renfrow has seen just 2.3 targets per game. This will now be Renfrow's second-straight game listed as a healthy scratch. With Renfrow sitting out, managers should expect much of the passing volume to go to rookie wideout Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, and Jalen Coker.

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 7 contest against the New York Jets. He is a healthy scratch for the first time this season. The veteran receiver had amassed 15 catches, 89 yards, and two touchdowns through six games this year, headlined by a Week 2 contest against Arizona in which he caught seven passes and found the end zone twice. Renfrow's role had gradually declined since then. Now, with Jalen Coker healthy and active as the Panthers' slot receiver, the team decided it had no need for Renfrow heading into a clash with the Jets. Renfrow can be dropped in all fantasy leagues.

Oct 18 6:10pm CT

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow won't be a viable fantasy option for the upcoming Week 7 matchup against the New York Jets. The veteran wideout has hauled in two receptions for 14 total yards over his last two games. The 29-year-old has been held to two receptions or less and 10 or fewer yards in each of his last four games. It's worth noting that Jalen Coker (quad) is returning from the injured reserve in Week 7. That being said, Renfrow isn't a recommended fantasy option in any formats right now.

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow had seven catches for 48 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 2 loss to the Cardinals. However, outside of that performance, he hasn't done much, most recently catching one pass for seven yards in the Week 5 win over the Dolphins. Xavier Legette found the end zone in that one, so his stock is higher heading into the Week 6 meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, especially with Jalen Coker (quadriceps) unable to make his professional debut. All things considered, none of the Panthers' wideouts can be trusted. Although Tetairoa McMillan should still draw starting consideration versus a weak Cowboys defense, the same can't be said for Renfrow, even if Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) doesn't suit up.

Oct 3 8:50pm CT

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow has been off to a slow start to begin the season. Renfrow had a breakout performance in Week 2 with seven receptions for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Outside of that, Renfrow has been held to two receptions and 11 yards or less in every game. The return of Xavier Legette this week isn't going to do him any favors. Sooner rather than later, the Panthers are going to lean on their younger players and push Renfrow further out of the rotation. Last week, Renfrow played less than 50 percent of the offensive snaps. He's worth holding in deep leagues, but Renfrow shouldn't be trusted in Week 5.

Sep 27 2:10pm CT

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow has recorded 11 catches for 65 yards and two touchdowns on 19 targets through his first three games of 2025. Renfrow's target volume is impressive, but his 5.9-yard-per-reception average is less encouraging for his fantasy outlook heading into a Week 4 matchup against the New England Patriots. Still, the Panthers will be without wide receivers Xavier Legette (hamstring) and Jalen Coker (quad) as well as tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) on Sunday. That leaves Renfrow as the likely number two option in the passing game for Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, behind rookie wideout Tetairoa McMillan. Despite that, Renfrow just doesn't have enough downfield juice to be counted on for consistent fantasy production. He should be avoided by fantasy managers in Week 4.

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow found the endzone twice in the team's 25-22 loss on Sunday. With the Panthers going down by 24 points in the second half of Week 2, they were forced to abandon the run and turn to the passing game. Hunter Renfrow was a huge part of the comeback, tying for second on the team with nine targets, just one shy of leader Tetairoa McMillan. Operating as a security blanket for Bryce Young, Renfrow caught seven passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns in the 27-22 loss. The seven catches and nine targets were encouraging, but even more so was the trust Young showed in Renfrow in the red zone. Although it's hard to say whether he will continue to be a staple in this offense, the lack of wide receiver depth behind McMillan is an encouraging sign. In Week 3, the Panthers will host the Atlanta Falcons, who just held the Minnesota Vikings to 120 passing yards on Sunday night. In PPR leagues, if you need wide receiver help and have a spot on your bench, it would be wise to add Renfrow. Do not use a waiver on Renfrow, but he would be an excellent free agent pickup if he goes unclaimed.

Sep 15 8:40am CT

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow was active on Sunday, hauling in seven of his nine targets for 48 receiving yards and two touchdowns. With the Panthers being down 27-9 heading into the fourth quarter, the game flow was undoubtedly in favor of the Panthers' playmakers and quarterback Bryce Young, and they made the most of it, scoring three touchdowns in the second half. Both of Renfrow's scores were in the red zone, one from four yards out and the other from one yard out. With the departure of Adam Thielen to the Minnesota Vikings, Renfrow has stepped in to be the primary slot receiver for the Panthers. As long as the Panthers remain in a game script that forces them to throw 35-plus times a game, it should allow Renfrow to slide into the weekly WR3 conversation in PPR leagues. Next up for the Renfrow and the Panthers is a home game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow (ribs) is on the Week 2 injury report and has had two limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday. If Renfrow is unable to upgrade to a full practice on Friday, he could be considered questionable for Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. In his Panthers debut in the team's Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Renfrow caught two of his six targets for 11 yards as the offense struggled to move the ball effectively. The 29-year-old has a clear path to starting slot duties in Carolina after the team traded Adam Thielen to the Minnesota Vikings, but at best, he's the WR3 behind rookie first-rounder Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Leggette. Renfrow is currently rostered in only 1 percent of Yahoo leagues.

Sep 7 7:00am CT

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow has an opportunity to be a factor in Week 1, but many uncertainties surrounding his situation makes him difficult to start right away against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 29-year-old missed all of 2024 with ulcerative colitis and was initially waived by Carolina, who signed him to the active roster only after dealing Adam Thielen to Minnesota and placing Jalen Coker (quadriceps) on IR. That places Renfrow as Carolina's projected top option in the slot, where he did most of his damage during his stint with the then-Oakland Raiders. The veteran has a 103-catch season to his name, but that was four years ago at this point. For now, Renfrow is mostly a DFS home-run swing or a stash in deeper dynasty formats.

Sep 2 6:10pm CT

On the Carolina Panthers' first unofficial depth chart of the regular season, they have listed wide receiver Hunter Renfrow as a starter alongside rookie first-rounder Tetairoa McMillan. Renfrow initially did not make the 53-man roster out of training camp and was released, but that was before Carolina traded Adam Thielen to the Minnesota Vikings and placed Jalen Coker (quadriceps) on Injured Reserve. Now that the 29-year-old is back in Carolina, he could start in three-wide sets next to McMillan and Xavier Legette, but that may not equal enough targets to make him fantasy relevant in starting lineups. Renfrow will play in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but we wouldn't recommend starting him in fantasy lineups, even in deeper leagues. He will primarily be competing for playing time with David Moore.

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales said the team is excited to get wide receiver Hunter Renfrow back and that he will be active for Week 1 of the regular season this Sunday versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Renfrow did not make the initial 53-man roster out of training camp and was released before eventually re-signing with the team after they traded Adam Thielen to the Minnesota Vikings. Carolina also needed more receiver depth after placing Jalen Coker (quadriceps) on Injured Reserve to begin the year. Renfrow is going to start the year on the waiver wire in 12-team fantasy leagues, but he could have an opportunity to open the year in starting three-wide sets next to rookie first-rounder Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette. The 29-year-old had a 1,000-yard season in 2021 with the Raiders but didn't exceed 400 yards in 2022 and 2023 and was out of the league last year.

Dynasty | The Panthers have re-signed wide receiver Hunter Renfrow. Dynasty Analysis: This move makes sense after they traded Adam Thielen back to Minnesota and have lost the services of Jalen Coker for a while due to injury. Renfrow is attempting to make a comeback after sitting out last season due to an unspecified illness. He should be a good receiver for Carolina but this may be a better fit in reality than fantasy. We'll need to see something from Renfrow before recommending him on dynasty rosters.

Aug 30 11:20am CT

The Carolina Panthers are signing veteran wide receiver Hunter Renfrow to the active roster, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Renfrow will have a chance to be the team's primary slot receiver with Jalen Coker (quad) heading to injured reserve due to a quad issue. Renfrow did not appear in an NFL game in 2024. In 17 games for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, he recorded 25 catches for 255 yards. The 29-year-old will likely never reclaim the Pro-Bowl level he reached in his peak season in 2021, but Renfrow could prove to be a semi-capable target earner in Carolina this season. Still, he offers little upside as a downfield or red-zone receiver and should remain off the radar of fantasy managers.

Aug 28 1:00pm CT

Veteran free-agent wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, who was released by the Carolina Panthers on roster cutdown day on Tuesday, is receiving interest from multiple teams, including the Panthers, a league source told David Newton of ESPN. Panthers general manager Dan Morgan said on Thursday that it's up to Renfrow to decide where he wants to be, and Morgan said the Panthers are open to adding Renfrow to the 53-man roster. However, if Renfrow was going to return to the Panthers, it would seem it would have happened already. Carolina just traded veteran Adam Thielen to the Minnesota Vikings, so it makes sense why they'd be interested in bringing the 29-year-old Clemson product back for depth. Renfrow was a Pro Bowler in 2021 with the Raiders and had a 1,000-yard season, but he fell off a cliff in 2022 and 2023 due to health issues before being released.

Aug 26 7:00pm CT

The Carolina Panthers released veteran wide receiver Hunter Renfrow on roster cutdown day on Tuesday, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. Renfrow's comeback will have to happen elsewhere unless he returns to Carolina on their practice squad. The 29-year-old former Pro Bowler dealt with health issues at the end of his tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders and spent 2024 out of football. Even if Renfrow had made the Panthers' 53-man roster, he would have been buried on the depth chart behind rookie Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, Adam Thielen and Jalen Coker. At this point, it's a long shot for Renfrow to regain his Pro Bowl form that saw him catch 103 passes for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns in 17 games in Vegas in 2021.

Dynasty | The Panthers have released wide receiver Hunter Renfrow. Dynasty Analysis: Renfrow was attempting to make a comeback after sitting out last season with an undisclosed illness. The Panthers talked him out of retirement only to cut him later, so this one likely stings a little. Renfrow has the experience to latch on elsewhere but he's a tough player to justify a dynasty roster spot on at this point.
