Washington was selected by the Dolphins in the sixth round of this year's draft. He gives the offense another exciting playmaker at receiver. Washington was a highly productive receiver in college, racking up the weekly catches. He is a good fit for the slot. He is a small receiver that runs good routes and does well after the catch. Washington excels at turning a short pass into a big play, making him a good fit for the Dolphins offense. He also catches the ball very well. Washington does lack a little speed for the position and won't do much down the field. He has a lot to compete with for playing time his rookie season but could eventually carve out a role as the slot receiver.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Washington probably won't bet much work his rookie year but it wouldn't surprise to see him emerge as a bigger part of the offense in a few seasons. For now, look for around 15 receptions for 200 yards.

Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said that head coach Mike McDaniel had been bugging him to draft Virginia wide receiver Malik Washington for multiple rounds. "Your rookie year can be very productive if you're a pro, which I know you can be immediately because you're going to have the opportunity," McDaniel told Washington. The Dolphins ultimately took the wideout in the sixth round of this year's NFL draft at 184th overall. Washington caught 111 passes for 1,384 yards and nine touchdowns in his only season with Virginia in 2023. He could have an immediate role for Miami in his rookie year, and his after-the-catch ability make him intriguing in the Dolphins' explosive offense. However, with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle commanding most of the looks from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, it's hard to envision Washington making a big rookie-year impact in fantasy in 2024.

Dynasty | The Miami Dolphins drafted Virginia wide receiver Malik Washington in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Dynasty Analysis: Washington fell all the way down into round six before being scooped up by the Miami Dolphins. It was a disappointing development for a player who looked like he could be on the rise. Washington is going to need to make some quick waves in order to make the final roster and looks like a late round dart throw in rookie drafts this off-season.
