2020 RTSports Outlook

Washington had a strong second half of the season for the Steelers, having at least four receptions six of his last nine games. He had four games with 80-plus yards during that stretch and three touchdowns. Washington made a lot of big plays, averaging 16.7 yards per reception. He finished with 44 receptions for 735 yards. Washington should be the No. 2 or 3 receiver for the Steelers this year. Washington has really long arms and does well in fighting for a reception. He also has top speed and can get by defenders in a hurry. He can be a top deep threat. Washington does need some work on his route running and playing consistent football.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Washington has a fairly high ceiling if all goes well and he plays a big role in this pass-first offense. And a healthy Ben Roethlisberger should be a plus for Washington. Take him as a No. 3 or 4 fantasy receiver and hope it all comes together for Washington. He could finish with around 50 receptions for 800 yards and five touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiverJames Washingtonis in the mix for the No. 2 job this upcoming season. The once top-rated prospect has lost a lot of momentum due to the emergence of trendy sleeperDiontae Johnsonand the drafting of CanadianChase Claypool. However, there is reason to be optimistic in 2020. Last season, the 24-year-old averaged the fifth-most air yards per target in the league. Although this led to disappointing production, second and third-string quarterbacks rarely have the accuracy and ability to support big-play threats like Washington. If Ben Roethlisberger comes back healthy this season, Washington might have the quarterback play he needs for a potential third-year breakout. He is well worth the upside to add to your bench as a WR4 or WR5 late in drafts.
