2020 RTSports Outlook

Gallup about doubled all his stats from his rookie year, taking a huge step forward in year two. Gallup had four 100-yard games and seven games with 75-plus yards. He finished 24th overall in fantasy receiver scoring. Gallup made a ton of big plays with his chances, averaging 16.8 yards per reception. He is likely to continue to start for the Cowboys but has rookie CeeDee Lamb to compete with for targets now. Lamb could overtake Gallup as the starter before long. Gallup is a strong receiver that can get to the next level in a hurry. He runs solid routes and uses his size to his advantage. He also is a smart player for a young guy.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Gallup might have a hard time improving much on last year with Lamb now around. He will have some big games but could disappear some other weeks because of all the mouths to now feed in the Cowboys offense. Take him as a No. 3 fantasy receiver. Gallup can get 70 receptions for 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

The Cowboys' addition of CeeDee Lamb in the 2020 NFL Draft certainly relegates to Michael Gallup to WR3 in Dallas but that does not mean that he is no longer fantasy-viable. Playing aside two high-profile receivers like Lamb and Cooper will make it a lot easier for Gallup to continue producing in the NFL. Gallup experienced a breakout season last year at age 23, a good indicator of future success. As the respective WR2, he saw more targets per game (8.1 vs 7.4) than de facto WR1 Amari Cooper. Gallup eclipsed 1000 receiving yards and scored six touchdowns in 2019 and is capable of repeating that or even adding onto it. While CeeDee Lamb will certainly draw his fair share of targets this season, the departures of Jason Witten and Randall Cobb open up over 150 targets to be spread around. Also, there is no reason to assume that Dak Prescott will not repeat his heavy passing volume given that Dallas's defense will be no better than last season, it is even possible for him to top 600 attempts. Gallup's ability to attack the intermediate-to-deep sectors of the field makes him valuable even on lower volume, yet it should be assumed that his target differential this season is marginal, making him a steal at his currently dipping ADP.

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup was charged with 11 drops in 2019 - the second-highest total in the league.

From TheHuddle

Apr 5 11:23pm ET

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup had 39 catches for 686 yards and five touchdowns in November and December last season compared to 27 catches, 421 yards and one touchdown in the first two months of the year.

Fantasy Spin: Gallup had more receptions, yards and touchdowns in the final two months of 2019 than he did in his entire rookie season, and he and Amari Cooper suddenly look like one of the better receiver duos heading into 2020. For his part, Gallup should be a WR3 with upside.

From TheHuddle

Dec 29 8:30pm ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup caught five passes in Week 17, gaining 98 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Gallup's touchdowns came from 4, 32, and 45 yards out, all in the second half. Gallup showed some huge upside this season, but he'll likely remain behind Amari Cooper in the pecking order next season.

From RotoBaller

Dec 29 7:53pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed 23-of-33 passes for 303 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 17 against the Washington Redskins, but the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs due to Philadelphia's victory over the New York Giants. RB Ezekiel Elliott ran 18 times for 122 yards and a touchdown, while RB Tony Pollard rushed 14 times for 60 yards. WR Michael Gallup posted five grabs for 98 yards and a career-high three touchdowns, while WR Amari Cooper finished with four grabs for 92 yards. WR Randall Cobb ended up with five catches for 81 yards, and TE Jason Witten wound up with four receptions for 24 yards.

From TheHuddle

Dec 24 9:40pm ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup should be a solid WR2 option in a Week 17 matchup against Washington. Gallup had a strong Week 16 despite the entire Cowboys offense struggling, hauling in five catches for 98 yards. He'll be needed in order for the Cowboys to keep their playoff chances alive in a must-win game. Gallup is a mid-range WR2 with touchdown upside.

From RotoBaller

Dec 22 11:33pm ET

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup caught five of his 11 targets for 98 yards in a 17-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Although the Cowboys lost a crucial game, Gallup went over 1,000 yards for the year in what has been a breakout season. He's a WR3 candidate heading into the season finale against the Washington Redskins.

From TheHuddle

Dec 22 8:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup caught five passes for 98 yards in a Week 16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Gallup made some big catches in this one, but he was targeted 11 times and could only come down with the five grabs. In a must-win game next week against Washington, Gallup should be a solid fantasy option.

From RotoBaller

Dec 18 11:40am ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing Week 15 this week in Philadelphia against the Eagles. Coming off a game in which he caught just one pass, Gallup will likely be needed more in a game with enormous playoff implications. The Cowboys had no problem running the ball all over the Rams Defense last week, leading to Dak Prescott attempting just 23 passes. That's not likely to happen again, meaning the Cowboys wide receivers will need to be more involved this time around. Gallup shapes up as a solid WR2 with upside.

From RotoBaller

Dec 16 3:43am ET

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup caught one pass for six yards against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Spin: Like Amari Cooper, Gallup managed just one catch Sunday as the passing game took a back seat to Elliott and company. It was by far Gallup's poorest statistical showing of 2019, though until now it was probably his 3-34-0 performance against the Eagles, who he'll face again in Week 16. He could offer some WR3 value.

From TheHuddle

Dec 15 7:50pm ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup made just one catch in Week 15, gaining only six yards. Gallup was targeted three times in a game where the Cowboys dominated on the ground and didn't have much need to air the ball out. Gallup was hyped as a big play this week and along with Amari Cooper was one of the more disappointing players in fantasy this week. Both should have better outings next week in a battle for the NFC East against the Philadelphia Eagles.

From RotoBaller

Dec 11 12:50pm ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup is a strong WR2 option for a Week 15 game against the Los Angeles Rams. With Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey likely shadowing Amari Cooper in this one, Gallup could be more of the first look for quarterback Dak Prescott than usual. Coming off a game in which he led the Cowboys in receiving with 109 yards, Gallup is a strong WR2 option with upside for Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Dec 6 12:10am ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup had a strong game in Week 14, catching six passes for 109 yards. He led the team in yardage and with the 10 targets thrown his way, and tied for the team lead with six catches. Gallup did a lot of work after the catch in this one, and was a touchdown away from an enormous game in the first week of the fantasy playoffs. He'll continue as a strong WR2 through Week 17.

From RotoBaller

Dec 6 12:03am ET

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup caught six of his 10 targets for 109 yards in a 31-24 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 14.

Fantasy Spin: It was Gallup's fourth 100-yard effort of the year and his fifth straight game with at least 55 receiving yards. He's on pace to top 1,000 yards for the year, and he's become a legitimate WR3 candidate.
