Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick confirmed that he will play again in 2020. All things considered, Fitzpatrick exceeded expectations with a rebuilding Dolphins club last year, and they'd like him back to potentially be a bridge for a rookie quarterback. Miami has the No. 5 overall selection in this year's draft and are expected to take a signal-caller in that spot. The 37-year-old journeyman quarterback completed 62 percent of his passes for 3,529 yards, 20 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for a QB rating of 85.5 in 15 starts. Fitzmagic can pull rabbits out of his hat at times, but the reality is that he'll just be keeping the seat under center warm in 2020 and will be nothing more than a midrange QB2 for fantasy owners.

Updating previous reports, Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick confirmed he'll return in 2020.

Jan 22 4:43pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to be on the roster next season, according to general manager Chris Grier.

Fantasy Spin: The Dolphins are expected to select a quarterback in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but Fitzpatrick may be a bridge quarterback next season. Fitzpatrick could be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he remains the starter.

From TheHuddle

Jan 22 3:50pm ET

Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said he "fully expects" quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to return to the team in 2020. The Dolphins are expected to take a quarterback in the first round of this year's draft at No. 5 overall, with Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa the most likely outcome. However, Fitz played so well in 2019 that the Dolphins wouldn't mind having him under center for one more year while a rookie learns behind him. The 37-year-old journeyman gunslinger completed 62 percent of his passes for 3,529 yards, 20 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 15 games in 2019. While he can go off for big games based on the opponent, Fitz won't be anything more than a QB2 streamer if he's starting games for the Dolphins in 2020.

Dec 31 12:10pm ET

The Miami Dolphins are hiring Chan Gailey, who is coming out of retirement, to be their next offensive coordinator, according to sources. Gailey hasn't coached in the NFL in the last three seasons, so it remains to be seen if this will be a successful move for a Dolphins team in rebuild mode looking for a young quarterback in next year's draft. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has history with Gailey, so this move likely means that Miami will retain the veteran gunslinger for at least one more season as a bridge to their next signal-caller. Having Gailey as the offensive mind in 2020 will be good news for whoever is at quarterback and all of the team's wide receivers.

Dec 29 4:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 28-of-41 passes for 320 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while running for 15 yards and a score in a stunning Week 17 road upset of the New England Patriots. RB Patrick Laird was the leading rusher with just 21 yards on 11 carries, while WR DeVante Parker led the way with a game-high 137 receiving yards on eight catches for 11 targets. WR Isaiah Ford managed seven grabs for 54 yards on nine targets, WR Albert Wilson was good for five catches for 59 yards on eight targets and TE Mike Gesicki posted a touchdown while totaling 34 yards on four receptions. LB Vince Biegel (elbow), DE Taco Charlton (ankle), WR Allen Hurns (ankle, neck), DT Zach Sieler (ankle, thumb) and DT Christian Wilkins (ankle) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable. Dec 27 12:20pm ET

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't completely sure of his decision heading into 2020, but he feels good enough to continue playing another season. Physically, Fitzpatrick feels great, and the Dolphins named him their 2019 MVP by members of the media and the organization. He's the team's leading passer (3,209 yards, 19 touchdowns) and their leading rusher (228 yards and three touchdowns on 49 carries). The bottom line is that Fitzpatrick wants to play, but the Dolphins are expected to draft their quarterback of the future in 2020. They could keep him around for one more year to help a rookie develop behind him, but there are no guarantees.

From TheHuddle

Dec 26 12:33pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder) will get the start in Week 17 on Sunday, Dec. 29, as the quarterback who gives the team 'the best chance to win,' head coach Brian Flores said Thursday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Spin: Fitz is coming off a season-best 419-yard, four-TD effort against the Bengals in Week 16 and ordinarily would be a solid QB1 streamer aside from the brutal road matchup against a Patriots defense yielding the fewest fantasy points against opposing QBs. Stay away unless you're truly desperate.

From TheHuddle

Dec 25 4:13pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 25. The Dolphins did not hold a practice Wednesday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick is coming off one of his best games of the season last week but will be facing a tough New England Patriots defense in Week 17. He probably can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 22 8:13pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 31-of-52 passes for 419 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in the Week 16 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Spin: The veteran was dishing out that 'Fitz-magic' for any fantasy owner who rolled the dice on him in this prime matchup, and he was racking up cash for those in DFS. The Dolphins wrap up the regular season against the New England Patriots in Week 17.

From TheHuddle

Dec 20 6:43pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 20, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick has thrown for at least 279 yards in three of the last five games and has seven touchdowns during that span. He should have success this week against the Cincinnati Bengals but may only be a starting option in two-quarterback leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 20 5:13pm ET

Miami Dolphins DT Zach Sieler (ankle), PK Jason Sanders (illness), OL Evan Boehm (ankle) and DE Taco Charlton (ankle) were limited in practice Friday, Dec. 20, and are listed as questionable for Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals. FB Chandler Cox (shoulder) practiced in full for a second straight day Friday but is also listed as questionable. WR Allen Hurns (ankle, knee) was limited in practice all week but no longer appears on the injury report. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder), TE Mike Gesicki (hip), C Daniel Kilgore (finger), RB Patrick Laird (knee), CB Nik Needham (groin), WR DeVante Parker (hip), WR Albert Wilson (hip) and LB Vince Biegel (Achilles) practiced in full Friday and have also been removed from the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Dec 19 6:13pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder) practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 19.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick will play Sunday, Dec. 22, against the Cincinnati Bengals in the game which may go a long way toward deciding who replaces him under center next year. He's a high-end QB2 in the nice matchup.

From TheHuddle

Dec 18 6:13pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick has thrown seven touchdowns in the last four games and should have success this week against the Cincinnati Bengals. He would be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues but is not a must-start option.

From TheHuddle

Dec 15 7:03pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 23-of-41 passes for 279 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 15 against the New York Giants and he ran for 33 yards on four attempts.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick had a pretty decent afternoon, and he has a very favorable matchup into Week 16 against the hapless Cincinnati Bengals.

From TheHuddle

Dec 15 6:30pm ET

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick turned in another solid performance in a losing effort on Sunday, throwing for 279 yards and two touchdowns in a 36-20 loss to the New York Giants. Fitzpatrick didnt throw an interception for the first time in more than a month but still managed to contribute a brutal turnover, fumbling on Miamis first drive of the second half after New York had just taken the lead with a touchdown. Fitzpatrick finished with 19 points on the day, rewarding the many who took a chance on the veteran even with as their playoff hopes were on the line. He'll have another solid matchup in Week 16, as the Cincinnati Bengals come to town in a battle of two of the NFL's worst teams.
