2024 RTSports Outlook

Njoku had a very good season last year, finishing 10th overall in fantasy tight end scoring. He had more than 50 receptions for the first time since 2018. He had seven games with double-digit fantasy points. Njoku will have Deshaun Watson as his starting quarterback from the start of the season this year, which is a big positive for him. He will be the top tight end in this offense and could get a lot of weekly looks from Watson. Njoku has great size, speed and strength for the position. He can get downfield in a hurry and turn a short pass into a big play. Njoku also is a willing blocker but not super polished in that area. He will struggle with drops at times and isn't the best route runner at this stage of his career.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Njoku can improve on last year and should be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end with high upside. He could have some big games this year. He can get around 60 receptions for 700 yards and six or so touchdowns.

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku caught seven of his 11 targets for 93 yards in a 45-14 loss to the Houston Texans in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday. Njoku wound up leading the team in targets and receiving yards in the loss, capping off an extraordinary late-season run for the athletic tight end. Njoku wound up turning in a career year this past season, setting career-highs in catches (81), yards (882), and touchdowns (six). Njoku showed excellent chemistry with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who targeted the big tight end heavily over his six-game stretch of starts. The veteran will be back as Cleveland's starting tight end for the 2024 season, although he will likely go back to catching passes from Deshaun Watson and not Flacco.

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku recorded seven receptions for 93 yards in a 45-14 loss against the Houston Texans during Wild Card Weekend. He led the team with 11 targets.

From TheHuddle

Jan 11 7:20pm ET

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku finished the regular season on a high note as he went for at least 91 receiving yards in three of his final four games while catching four touchdowns over that span. He will look to keep it going in the first round of the NFL playoffs against the Houston Texans on Saturday. Njoku caught six passes for 44 yards and a touchdown back when these two teams met in Week 16 and will be a primary piece in the Cleveland passing attack on Saturday. Houston struggled against tight ends in the regular season as they allowed the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position. Njoku is in play as the top overall fantasy tight end for DFS contests this weekend.

Jan 11 6:03pm ET

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Jan. 11, and is not on the injury report for the Wild Card playoff game.

Fantasy Spin: Njoku has been a big part of the passing game since Flacco has taken over as the starter and should see a good amount of targets again this week. He can be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jan 10 5:13pm ET

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Spin: Njoku likely will be available for the Wild Card playoff game unless he suffers a setback in the next day or two. He has been a popular target for Joe Flacco and should be a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jan 9 7:23pm ET

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (rest, knee) did not practice on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Fantasy Spin: Njoku has sat out the first practice of the week for much of the season, yet he only missed one game, which came in Week 18 when the team rested its starters. There's no concern about his status right now and Njoku remains a TE1.

From TheHuddle

Jan 6 9:30am ET

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (rest/knee/illness) missed practice on Wednesday but got in limited sessions on Thursday and Friday. The star tight end is listed without an injury designation heading into a Week 18 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns already have the No. 5 seed in the AFC locked up and are planning to rest several starters in a meaningless game against Cincinnati. Njoku has not been ruled out of action as of Saturday morning but there is a strong chance he is not active in Week 18 as Cleveland looks toward the first round of the playoffs next week. If Njoku ultimately doesn't play, Harrison Bryant would see starter's snaps and settle in as a TE2 for the final week of the regular season. Stay tuned.

From RotoBaller

Jan 5 6:33pm ET

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (illness, knee) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 5 but is not on the injury report for Week 18.

Fantasy Spin: The Browns are resting several of their players, so there is a chance that Njoku does not receive a lot of snaps during the Week 18 game. He is a weekly starting option most weeks but will be a risky option this week.

From TheHuddle

Jan 4 9:30pm ET

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (rest) was a limited participant during Thursday's practice session. Njoku sat out of Wednesday's practice before returning on Thursday, but fantasy managers shouldn't be worried. It sounds like the Browns are being cautious here and resting Njoku. The big tight end is dealing with multiple issues and the team wants to keep him fresh. The expectation is that Njoku will be a full-go for this weekend's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Njoku has stepped it up this season, but he has looked even better since Joe Flacco took over under center. DFS players should certainly take a look at Njoku as a possible option for this weekend's slate.

From RotoBaller

Jan 4 5:43pm ET

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (rest, knee, illness) was limited in practice on Thursday, Jan. 4, after not practicing the day before.

Fantasy Spin: Njoku will almost certainly sit out the regular-season finale now that the Browns have their spot locked up. Harrison Bryant will assume starting duties in his stead but will be impossible to trust, especially with Jeff Driskel under center.

Cleveland Browns OG Joel Bitonio (oblique, knee), WR Amari Cooper (rest, heel), CB Mike Ford (calf), S Duron Harmon (ankle), PK Dustin Hopkins (hamstring), CB Greg Newsome (knee), C Ethan Pocic (shoulder, stinger), LB Anthony Walker (knee), DE Shelby Harris (back) and LB Jordan Kunaszyk (calf) did not take part in practice on Thursday, Jan. 4. In addition, S Juan Thornhill (calf), WR Marquise Goodwin (knee), OG Wyatt Teller (ankle), DE Ogbo Okoronkwo (pectoral), TE David Njoku (rest, knee, illness), WR Elijah Moore (concussion), RB Kareem Hunt (groin) and P Corey Bojorquez (quadriceps) were limited and QB Joe Flacco (calf), DE Myles Garrett (shoulder) and CB Denzel Ward (shoulder) practiced in full.

From TheHuddle

Jan 3 5:43pm ET

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (illness, knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to keep an eye on the situation because Njoku could be one of the players the Browns decide to rest for the regular season finale. He is a weekly starting option in leagues when healthy, but players will know more about his status in a few days.

From TheHuddle

Jan 3 3:50pm ET

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (illness) did not take part in practice on Wednesday due to an illness. Njoku should be feeling better by Sunday's Week 18 regular season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals, but with the Browns being locked into the No. 5 seed for the playoffs, they could choose to rest Njoku. Cleveland already announced that quarterback Joe Flacco will be rested in favor of Jeff Driskel, so Njoku's fantasy appeal has already taken a big hit with that news. The 27-year-old has caught 28 passes for 373 yards and four touchdowns in the last four games and has become a must-start fantasy tight end, but that could change in Week 18 if he's out or limited this Sunday. If Njoku is rested, Harrison Bryant would become Cleveland's top pass-catching tight end.

From RotoBaller

Dec 29 6:30am ET

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku caught six of his eight targets for 134 yards and lost a fumble in a 37-20 win over the New York Jets in Week 17. Njoku got off to a hot start in the win, hauling in passes of 36 and 28 yards on Cleveland's first drive of the evening. He did almost all of his damage in the first half as he had just a six-yard catch after halftime. Njoku has been red hot of late, with at least six catches in four straight games with four touchdowns over that span. He will cap off the regular season with a road matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18.

From RotoBaller

Dec 29 2:33am ET

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku had six receptions for a game-high 134 yards against the New York Jets on Thursday, Dec. 28. Njoku, who was targeted eight times, also lost a fumble.

From TheHuddle

Dec 28 11:30pm ET

Browns' TE David Njoku had 6 receptions for 134 yards but no touchdowns for a trememdous 22.3 yards per catch in Thursday's win against the Jets.

Dec 27 4:43pm ET

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27, and is not on the injury report for Week 17. The Browns did not hold a practice Wednesday, so his practice participation is an estimation.

Fantasy Spin: Njoku has become one of the better tight ends in fantasy since Joe Flacco has taken over as the quarterback and should see a good amount of targets again this week. He should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 27 8:20am ET

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku has been very productive of late as he's scored four touchdowns over his past three games. Njoku will look to stay hot against the New York Jets in Week 17's Thursday night game. The veteran tight end missed Monday's practice and was limited on Tuesday with a "not injury related-rest, knee" designation. The Browns have been managing his reps in practice throughout the week so his playing status should be fine for Thursday night. The Jets have shut down wide receivers this season but they are allowing the 13th-most fantasy points per game to tight ends, so the Browns could look Njoku's way often when they drop back to pass. Treat Njoku as a top-six fantasy tight end in Week 17.

From RotoBaller

Dec 26 5:03pm ET

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (rest, knee) was limited in practice on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Except for Joe Flacco's first start with Cleveland in Week 13, Njoku has become a fantasy force ever since. Njoku is easily the overall TE1 over the last three weeks, catching 22 of 31 targets for 239 yards and four touchdowns. It turns out all the all-world talent needed was a quarterback willing to trust him. Expect another big game from Njoky on Thursday against the New York Jets, who are middling against tight ends but the league's best at slowing down receivers.

From TheHuddle

Dec 26 4:33pm ET

Cleveland Browns P Corey Bojorquez (quad), WR Amari Cooper (rest, heel), PK Dustin Hopkins (hamstring), DE Ogbo Okoronkwo (pectoral) and LB Anthony Walker (knee) did not practice on Tuesday, Dec. 26. OG Joel Bitonio (back, knee), OT Geron Christian (shoulder), CB Martin Emerson (ankle), WR Marquise Goodwin (knee), RB Kareem Hunt (groin), LB Jordan Kunaszyk (calf), TE David Njoku (rest, knee), C Ethan Pocic (neck), OG Wyatt Teller (ankle) and S Juan Thornhill (calf) were limited. QB Joe Flacco (calf), RB Jerome Ford (wrist), DE Myles Garrett (rest, shoulder), C Nick Harris (knee), WR Cedric Tillman (knee) and CB Denzel Ward (shoulder) practiced in full.
