2020 RTSports Outlook

Hines saw a dip in production in year two, but was still the top pass-catching back for the Colts. He had 44 receptions and 519 total yards. Hines was 41st overall in fantasy running back scoring despite failing to top 200-rushing yards. He should continue to be the top change-of-pace back for the Colts. Hines has 107 receptions in two seasons. Hines is a speed back that makes plays in space as a runner and receiver. He lacks size to be an every-down back but has game-changing speed. He gets to the next level in a hur-ry.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Hines should finish with similar numbers to last year. He probably won't reach his reception to-tals from his rookie year once again. He is a No. 4 back for fantasy teams, getting 40 or so re-ceptions, 500 total yards and a few scores.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Nyheim Hines falls to third on the running back depth chart heading into 2020 after the Colts drafted Jonathan Taylor out of Wisconsin. But while many might consider that a death sentence in fantasy, Hines is still expected to have a role in head coach Frank Reich's offense as the pass-catching back. That could mesh well with aging QB Philip Rivers, too, as the former Charger hooked up with pass-catching back Austin Ekeler a whopping 92 times in 2019. Hines won't see much work on early downs after rushing the ball only 52 times last season, but he does have 107 receptions for 745 yards (seven yards per catch) in his two seasons. The 23-year-old shouldn't be left for dead and is a fine late-round target for depth in PPR leagues.

Indianapolis Colts RB Nyheim Hines will have a prominent role in the offense this upcoming season as the third-down back, according to head coach Frank Reich.

Fantasy Spin: It appears like Hines is in line for a lot of targets in the passing game but likely will mostly be used on third downs. He should be considered a flex option in point-per-receptions leagues and will also have value in standard leagues.

Indianapolis Colts RB Nyheim Hines will be involved in the passing game and could catch as many as 10 passes in a game this upcoming season, according to head coach Frank Reich.

Fantasy Spin: Hines likely will not receive many carries with Marlon Mack and Jonathan Taylor on the roster but will be used as a receiver out of the backfield in games. He can be considered a flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines was a big loser this offseason on the surface. The team drafted Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor in the second round, and with Marlon Mack still around, Hines was seemingly relegated to a third-string role. But the team actually expects Hines to get more usage now that Philip Rivers is the team's quarterback, as Rivers has been one of the NFL's best at getting back involved in the passing game, and Hines has the speed and footwork to be a good receiving back. Offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni suggests that Hines is in for a big year. Does that mean you should rush out to buy him in dynasty leagues and overdraft him in re-draft? No. He's still going to cede lots of snaps to Taylor and Mack, and while Hines has upside as a late round fantasy pick and the team is definitely saying all the right things, it's hard to see him getting too many more looks this year, and his expanded use in the pass game might come at the cost of his use in the running game.

Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni believes RB Nyheim Hines' role out of the backfield as a pass-catching back will benefit 'big time' by playing with new starting QB Philip Rivers.

Fantasy Spin: Hines has 107 receptions for 745 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns during his first two seasons in the NFL, but his numbers (44-320-0) took a hit last season. With RBs Marlon Mack and Jonathan Taylor also in the mix for the heavy lifting, Hines' value only comes in PPR leagues where he is a late-round flier in drafts this summer.

From TheHuddle

Apr 8 12:50pm ET

Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines is expected to get "plenty more action" in the offense this season, in the opinion of The Athletic's Zak Keefer. And that could translate into much more fantasy success with new quarterback Philip Rivers under center, a veteran signal-caller who isn't afraid to dump the ball off to his pass-catching backs. Hines, 23, ran the ball just 52 times for 199 yards and two touchdowns behind Marlon Mack in 2019, adding 44 receptions for 320 yards. Both his rushing and receiving marks were down from his rookie season in 2018 when he was playing with Andrew Luck. With an offense that should attack more under Rivers, Hines could be a nice PPR sleeper late in drafts.

Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett completed 12-of-25 passes for 162 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in a Week 17 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars while running for 17 yards with two lost fumbles. RB Marlon Mack ended with 15 runs for 77 yards and two touchdowns, while RB Nyheim Hines rushed seven times for 34 yards while adding three grabs for 22 yards. WR T.Y. Hilton finished up strong with a team-high 72 receiving yards on three grabs, while TE Marcus Johnson ended up with two catches for 32 yards and TE Jack Doyle disappointed with one snag for six yards.
