New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (thumb) underwent surgery Tuesday, Jan. 10, to repair a torn ligament in his thumb, according to sources. He is expected to be ready for the start of offseason workouts.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold played well at times this season and should continue to be improve his play next season. He likely will be mostly a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues in 2020.

Dec 29 4:53pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold completed 23-of-36 passes for 199 yards, one touchdowns and one interception in Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills. RB Le'Veon Bell rushed 16 times for a team-high 41 yards with five grabs for 36 yards on five targets, while RB Bilal Powell added seven runs for 27 yards. WR Jamison Crowder led the way with eight catches for a team-high 66 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets, while WR Robby Anderson finished his season with three grabs for 18 yards on seven targets.

From TheHuddle

Dec 29 4:40pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold completed 23 of 36 passes for 199 yards with one touchdown and one interception in a win over the Bills Sunday. Darnold did what he had to do to secure a sloppy win in rainy conditions with Buffalo resting several starters, but did not inspire confidence he'll be a top-10 quarterback for fantasy going into next season. Darnold finished his sophomore campaign with 2,825 yards with 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 13 games played. The Jets' brass has already committed to head coach Adam Gase for 2020 so Darnold will have consistency with the offensive system for the first time in his pro career. Darnold has the talent to be a very good NFL QB, but will need to show more than he has to be more than a QB2 with upside next draft season.

Dec 27 7:23pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (knee, thumb) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 27, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold has been playing better over the last month with seven touchdowns and only two interceptions during the last five games. He will be facing a tough Buffalo Bills defense and may only be a starting option in two-quarterback leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 27 6:03pm ET

New York Jets OL Tom Compton (calf) and OG Alex Lewis (ankle) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills. WR Demaryius Thomas (hamstring, knee), S Jamal Adams (ankle), DL Henry Anderson (knee, shoulder), WR Robby Anderson (calf), OT Kelvin Beachum (back, ankles), DL Steve McLendon (knee, hip), RB Kenneth Dixon (illness) and CB Brian Poole (anle) were limited in practice Friday, Dec. 27, and are listed as questionable. CB Nate Hairston (illness), LB James Burgess (thumb), WR Jamison Crowder (thumb) and QB Sam Darnold (knee, thumb) practiced in full Friday and were removed from the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Dec 27 12:40pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has made strides in his sophomore season limiting turnovers, but is still lacking the big play ability to make him a startable QB in fantasy. Darnold has thrown for more than 300 yards just once since Week 6 and has more than two passing touchdowns in a game just once all season. Things won't get easier in Week 17 with a road trip to Buffalo lined up for the Jets. The Bills allow the third-fewest passing yards per game this season and held Darnold to just 175 yards back in Week 1. Darnold is a low-end starter in 2QB leagues but is best left on the bench in most fantasy matchups.

Dec 26 5:33pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (knee, thumb) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold has thrown for at least two touchdowns in four of the last six games. He will be facing a Buffalo Bills defense that may be resting some players but probably should still be avoided in standard leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 25 4:03pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (knee, thumb) was listed as a full participant on the team's estimated practice report for Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold should be clear to play in the season finale against the Buffalo Bills Sunday, Dec. 29. He'll be a mid-tier QB2 in a difficult matchup, even though the Bills are expected to rest multiple veteran starters.

From TheHuddle

Dec 22 5:00pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold completed 16 of 26 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown as the Jets played spoiler vs the Steelers Sunday in New Jersey. Darnold didn't throw an interception but did lose a fumble in the contest. Darnold started the game hot, he threw a dime to Robby Anderson through double coverage for a touchdown on the team's opening drive, but was more of a game manager in the low-scoring contest. Darnold isn't a recommended start in Week 17 at Buffalo. He'll be an interesting QB going into next season as he's shown the talent that made him a top-3 pick in the NFL Draft, but has also struggled with turnovers through two seasons.

From RotoBaller

Dec 22 4:53pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold completed 16-of-26 passes for 183 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in a Week 16 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Spin: It wasn't a pretty day, but the Jets didn't quit and Darnold was able to hook up with Robby Anderson for the team's only touchdown of the day. Darnold should be a decent QB2 with upside heading into 2020.

From TheHuddle

Dec 20 5:33pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (knee, thumb) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 20, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold posted decent numbers against the Baltimore Ravens last week and will be facing another tough defense this week. He could be a possible starting option in two-quarterback leagues but should be avoided in standard leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 20 4:33pm ET

New York Jets OL Tom Compton (calf) and WR Demaryius Thomas (hamstring, knee) did not practice all week and are listed as doubtful for Week 16 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. S Jamal Adams (ankle), DL Henry Anderson (shoulder), OT Kelvin Beachum (ankles), CB Arthur Maulet (calf), DL Steve McLendon (knee, hip), CB Brian Poole (concussion), RB Bilal Powell (ankle) and DL Quinnen Williams (neck) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable. WR Robby Anderson (illness) was upgraded to a limited practice Friday, Dec. 20, and is also listed as questionable. LB B.J. Bello (illness), S Bennett Jackson (illness), CB Maurice Canady (shoulder), QB Sam Darnold (knee, thumb), QB David Fales (elbow), DL Kyle Phillips (hip), OL Brent Qvale (knee), DL Nathan Shepherd (rib, ankle) and S Blake Countess (ankle) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Dec 20 9:40am ET

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has limited the turnovers that plagued him earlier in the season, but is still not producing at a level that would make him a strong play in fantasy. Darnold has eclipsed 300 passing yards just once in his last nine games and has more than two touchdowns just once in that span. Now he'll face a strong Steelers Defense that allows the fifth-fewest points to opposing quarterbacks on the season and has been even better since acquiring Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins. Darnold is not a recommended start in what will feel like a road game for the Jets even though it'll be played in New Jersey.

From RotoBaller

Dec 19 4:33pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (knee, thumb) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 19.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold has played well over the last few weeks but will be facing a good Pittsburgh Steelers defense in Week 16. He could be a possible flex option in two-quarterback leagues but should be avoided in most standard leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 19 4:03pm ET

Dec 18 5:53pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (knee, thumb) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold has thrown at least two touchdowns in four of the last five games but will be facing a good Pittsburgh Steelers defense in Week 16. He can be a possible starting option in two-quarterback leagues but can be avoided in most standard leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 13 12:23am ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold completed 18 of his 32 passes for 218 yards, 2 TDs and an INT against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Dec. 12. Darnold also ran for 11 yards.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold played reasonably well against a tough Ravens defense but came up short in a few spots, most notably throwing an interception late in the first half and turning the ball over on downs, that kept the Jets from adding on to their score. The USC product closes the season against a couple of tough defenses and should probably be benched until 2020 in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 12 11:50pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold went 18-for-32 passing for 218 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to the Ravens Thursday. Darnold also threw an interception and lost a fumble as turnovers continue to be an issue for the sophomore signal-caller. This was a typical game for Darnold, he's had over 300 yards passing just once since Week 6 while also failing to reach 200 yards just once in that time. While that level of consistency can be nice, Darnold simply doesn't have enough upside in this offense to be more than a low-end QB2 most weeks. Expect him to be in that range again in Week 16 in another tough matchup with the Steelers.
