2024 RTSports Outlook

Boyd was the third receiver for the Bengals once again last year and served the role well. He was 39th overall in fantasy receiver scoring. He had some big games in his role, hitting double-digit fantasy points eight times. He topped 750-receiving yards for the fifth straight season. Expect Boyd to play a similar role this year. Boyd is a good route runner and has very good hands. He lacks a little elite speed but still runs pretty well for the position. His length makes him a solid deep threat.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Boyd will be consistent in his role and have a few big games along the way. He isn't a fantasy starter but a decent spot play. And if injury hits the Bengals at receiver, Boyd would see his value really vault. But for now, he can get around 65 receptions for 800 yards and five touchdowns.

The Athletic's Mark Kaboly writes that the biggest hurdle in free-agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd joining the Pittsburgh Steelers are the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets. The Jets are considered a dark horse as they look to give quarterback Aaron Rodgers another receiving target. The 29-year-old veteran slot receiver has taken a back seat to both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in recent seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, but Boyd did have back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in Cincy in 2018 and 2019 and could see his fantasy stock be revived with a new club in 2024. The most intriguing landing spot would of course be with the Super Bowl-champion Chiefs, where he'd be the No. 3 target behind Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice.

Mar 14 11:43am ET

Free-agent WR Tyler Boyd (Bengals) is receiving additional interest from the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets, according to sources Thursday, March 14. The Pittsburgh Steelers also have shown interest.

Fantasy Spin: Boyd is likely going to be a WR4 option with limited upside wherever he goes.

From TheHuddle

Mar 13 11:33pm ET

Free-agent WR Tyler Boyd (Bengals) and the Pittsburgh Steelers have a mutual interest, and the two sides have had dialogue about the receiver playing for his hometown team, although there is nothing imminent about it.

Fantasy Spin: Boyd would give the team a veteran presence, as George Pickens is the team's most experienced receiver following the trade of Diontae Johnson to Carolina. If Boyd were to land in the Steel City, he would still only be a WR4 or flex fantasy option in leagues of 12 or more teams at this point of his career.

Mar 13 8:10pm ET

The Pittsburgh Steelers and free-agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd have mutual interest and have had dialogue about him returning to play in his hometown. No deal is imminent between the two sides, but there is more than just smoke here. Pittsburgh could use another receiver after trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday and George Pickens the only experienced wideout on their current roster. The 29-year-old Boyd is from Western Pennsylvania and played his college ball at Pitt. The former second-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2016 had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in Cincy in 2018 and 2019 but was relegated to third-string duties in recent years with the additions of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. If Boyd lands with the Steelers, he'd be working with quarterback Russell Wilson in 2024.

Many around the NFL think that the Cincinnati Bengals will let veteran slot wide receiver Tyler Boyd walk in free agency this offseason. In addition, running back Joe Mixon ($5.8 million salary cap savings) and defensive tackle BJ Hill ($7.5 million) are potential cap casualties, even though Mixon had 1,034 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in 2023. Boyd, 29, disappointed last year with 67 catches on 98 targets for 667 yards and only two touchdowns in 17 games (13 starts) despite Tee Higgins missing considerable time with injuries. It didn't help that quarterback Joe Burrow's (wrist) season was ended early due to injury as well. It makes sense for both Cincy and Boyd to end their relationship in 2024. Boyd won't be very attractive in fantasy entering his age-30 campaign, but joining a new team that will give him a bigger role on offense could make him somewhat of a sleeper.

Impending free agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd will draw plenty of interest from several teams throughout the offseason. Although there's a chance the wideout will return to Cincinnati, he didn't rule out one day suiting up for his hometown Steelers. Boyd also conveyed his fondness for head coach Mike Tomlin, with the wideout describing him as "one of the realest dudes in the sport's business." But with just a few weeks removed from the end of the 2023-24 campaign, it's far too early to speculate how this scenario will play out. However, a change of scenery could help Boyd get back to the 1,000-yard receiving conversation. At any rate, the 29-year-old, who also played college ball at Pitt, would make a welcome addition to any team, especially after a relatively successful tenure with the Bengals.

Jan 8 2:00pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd wrapped up a very mediocre 2023 campaign in the Week 18 regular season finale with a one-catch, four-yard performance in the 31-14 blowout win over a Cleveland Browns team that was resting most of their starters on both sides of the ball. Boyd will head into free agency in March after posting 67 receptions for 667 yards and only two touchdowns on 98 targets over 17 games in 2023. Fantasy managers weren't really expecting Boyd to be all that productive with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in front of him on the depth chart. However, Higgins ended up missing five games with various injuries, and Boyd didn't exactly take advantage of more opportunities. It also didn't help that Joe Burrow (wrist) played in just 10 games. The 29-year-old Boyd will have an opportunity to test the open market in March, and he could rebound with a change of scenery after spending his first eight years in Cincinnati.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd ended up with a single 4-yard catch on two targets in Week 18 against the Cleveland Browns.

From TheHuddle

Jan 6 1:00am ET

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd may play in his final game with the organization on Sunday versus the Browns. The 2016 second-round pick has had a potent career in Cincinnati, including 1,000-yard seasons in 2018 and 2019. Unfortunately, he's had one of the worst campaigns of his career in 2023-24, catching 66 passes for 663 yards and two touchdowns. While there's a chance he re-signs with the Bengals in the offseason, he has at least one more opportunity for a productive outing on Sunday. That said, fantasy managers should at least consider him for their starting lineups, especially if Tee Higgins (hamstring) doesn't suit up. At the same time, Boyd warrants DFS consideration.

From RotoBaller

Jan 1 1:20am ET

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd had just two catches for 29 yards in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. The veteran wideout had another hideous fantasy showing in Week 17. However, the rest of the Bengals offense had issues getting anything going, so Boyd can be forgiven. At any rate, with Cincinnati out of playoff contention, Boyd may not play in Week 18 versus the Browns. There's also a chance his days as a Bengal are over. But the 29-year-old had some quality seasons over the years, and depending on where he ends up moving ahead, he could reestablish himself as a viable fantasy asset.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd caught both of his targets for 29 yards in a 25-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17.

From TheHuddle

Dec 29 11:40pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd hasn't had a quality season. But with Ja'Marr Chase (shoulder) sidelined in Week 16 versus the Steelers, Boyd had a chance to be more productive. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, with the wideout catching five passes for 59 yards. Without question, fantasy managers were hoping for more. With this in mind, the 29-year-old can't be trusted versus a sufficient Chiefs defense on Sunday, even if Chase misses another game.

From RotoBaller

Dec 23 10:40pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd caught five of seven targets for 59 yards during the Week 16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Ja'Marr Chase (shoulder) out of the lineup, Tee Higgins led the way on the receiving end, finishing with five receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown. While Boyd couldn't find the end zone, he had one of his best showings of the 2023-24 campaign. Nonetheless, the veteran is still hard to trust from a fantasy standpoint. But if Chase remains out in Week 17 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, Boyd should enter the flex conversation.

From RotoBaller

Dec 23 8:53pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd caught five of seven targets for 59 yards in a 34-11 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16.

From TheHuddle

Dec 22 10:40pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd hasn't had a memorable year. The veteran has just 59 receptions for 575 yards. Even worse, he's scored only twice. By now, most fantasy managers haven't included Boyd in the starting lineup. While his stock is a bit higher heading into the Week 16 meeting with the Steelers with Ja'Marr Chase (shoulder) out of the lineup, he's still hard to trust. On the other hand, Boyd is at least a flex option for those willing to take a risk.

From RotoBaller

Dec 16 9:30pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd had two grabs (five targets) for 53 yards in Saturday's win over the Minnesota Vikings. As expected, Boyd had another uneventful fantasy performance. But his yards total was still among the highest of the 2023-24 campaign. At any rate, with Ja'Marr Chase (shoulder) uncertain for the Week 16 battle with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Boyd may work his way into flex consideration, although he'd still be a risky fantasy option in any format.

Dec 16 5:03pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd caught two passes for 53 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15. He was targeted five times during the game.

From TheHuddle

Dec 15 8:40pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd (foot/ankle) practiced in a limited capacity on Tuesday and Wednesday. But he logged a full session on Thursday, meaning he'll be on the field on Saturday against the Vikings. Unfortunately, his availability won't mean much, especially since he hasn't played the best this year. In all fairness, the Bengals offense hasn't looked great, either. However, Boyd is hard to trust, so fantasy managers should strongly consider keeping him out of the lineup in Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Dec 14 8:13pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd (ankle, foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 14, and is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Fantasy Spin: Boyd has not been a big part of the passing game recently with four straight games with under 40 yards receiving. He will see a handful of targets against the Minnesota Vikings, but most fantasy players have better options available and can avoid Boyd.

From TheHuddle

Dec 14 2:23pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals LB Joe Bachie (oblique) was upgraded to a limited practice on Thursday, Dec. 14, and is listed as questionable for Week 15 versus the Minnesota Vikings. WR Ja'Marr Chase (ankle), WR Tyler Boyd (foot, ankle), CB DJ Turner (ankle), CB Chidobe Awuzie (shoulder), QB Jake Browning (forearm) and TE Mitchell Wilcox (knee) practiced in full on Thursday and have been removed from the injury report.
