2024 RTSports Outlook

Slayton had a pretty good season, getting a chance to start much of the year. He was a pretty consistent option for the Giants passing game. He also made some big plays, averaging 15.7 yards per reception. He had more than 700 yards for the third time in four seasons. Slayton had seven games with double-digit fantasy points. He has a good chance to start again for the Giants after re-signing with the team after the season. Slayton is a speed burner that does great on deep routes or turning a short pass into a big play. He has elite speed for the position. He lacks some polish with his route running, though, and will struggle with drops.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Slayton got it going again last year but his ceiling isn't super high. He is probably a No. 4 fantasy receiver. He could improve his numbers a little this year but don't expect much more than last season. He can get around 50 catches for 750 yard and four touchdowns.

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (thumb) had surgery on his right thumb after the season but should be fine and ready to go for training camp, the preseason and the start of the 2024 campaign this fall. Slayton also said he's glad the offensive staff is staying mostly intact heading into next season. "It'll help all of us to have one less learning curve," Slayton said. The 27-year-old pass-catcher didn't miss a single game in 2023 and finished with a career-high-tying 50 catches on a team-high 79 targets for a career-high 770 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games. Quarterback Daniel Jones only played in six games due to injuries, too, so there could be some more upside for Slayton as the team's No. 1 receiver in 2024 if he can stay healthy.

Jan 7 9:10pm ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton continued his impressive run at the end of the 2023 season, adding five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown to his season-long totals. It's the third straight game in which Slayton has found paydirt. All those touchdowns came from the arm of veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor. With Taylor under center, Slayton became a consistent, dependable fantasy football wide receiver. He finishes the season as the team leader for receiving yards. It's abundantly clear to anyone who has watched a Giants game this season that there's a big need for elite wide receivers. Slayton should be back for Big Blue next season, but he may not maintain his alpha role.

Jan 6 11:10am ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton has posted back-to-back performances of at least 90 yards and one touchdown. The veteran looks to take advantage of another favorable matchup. Two weeks ago against this same Philadelphia secondary, Slayton hit the 90-yard mark on three catches. In both of the last two contests, he's snagged a catch of at least 69 yards on his scoring play. Outside of those plays, production for Slayton has been minimal. He's the most trustworthy receiving option on the Giants, as he leads the team in receiving yards, but he could easily bust without another long catch.

Dec 31 5:20pm ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton used an 80-yard touchdown bomb to cross triple-digit receiving yards in the team's 26-25 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Once again, Slayton led the team in receiving and widened the gap between him and the other receiving options on the season. The Rams entered the game frequently allowing big plays to wide receivers and Slayton took advantage. The veteran is playing well against weak pass defenses as of late and Tyrod Taylor provides more consistency at the quarterback position. Slayton has another soft secondary in town next week when the Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles in their season finale.

Giants' WR Darius Slayton had 4 receptions for 106 yards with one touchdown in Sunday's loss against the Rams.

Dec 30 11:00am ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton, fresh off one of his best games of the 2023 campaign, draws the Los Angeles Rams at home in Week 17. The matchup isn't anything to worry about, but the inconsistent play is. Despite being the Giants' leading receiver this season, the veteran has logged double-digit PPR points in just four games. Quarterback play has been largely to blame and the Giants don't score enough (14.3 points per game) to support a noteworthy wide receiver. Slayton has taken advantage of soft secondaries (Washington and Philadelphia) in recent weeks, but depending on a long touchdown that rarely comes isn't a smart strategy for the fantasy playoffs.

Dec 25 10:30pm ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton took advantage of a soft Philadelphia secondary en route to three catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. The veteran only saw three targets on the day from the combination of Tommy Devito and Tyrod Taylor. The highlight came on a 69-yard pitch and catch from Taylor in the fourth quarter as the Giants attempted a comeback. With a tougher matchup against the Rams on the horizon and consistently inconsistent quarterback play, Slayton isn't worthy of a roster spot for fantasy championship weekend.

Dec 23 11:10am ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton leads the team in receiving yards this season and now draws the best matchup for wide receivers in fantasy football, the Philadelphia Eagles. That would imply the veteran is a smash play, but there are more factors involved. When including tight ends into the equation, Slayton's 512 yards ranks 69th in the NFL, behind guys like Jonnu Smith and Tyler Conklin. His total is low due to inconsistent quarterback play in New York. In his last time out against a positive matchup (Week 11 at Washington), Slayton logged 82 yards and a touchdown. It's not out of the realm of possibilities this week, and he's the most trustworthy receiver on the Giants, but Slayton should not be depended upon in the fantasy playoffs.

Dec 17 8:20pm ET

New York Giants wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson caught all four of his targets for 25 yards in the team's blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints. The second-year wideout tied for the team lead in receptions with Darius Slayton and Darren Waller but fell behind the pair in the yards department. The Giants used Robinson downfield last week in their victory over Green Bay but reverted to using the slot receiver near the line of scrimmage. With a fairly consistent lack of yardage, Robinson offers little value for fantasy managers. He can remain on the waiver wire in all leagues other than dynasty formats.

Dec 17 8:10pm ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton secured half of his eight targets for 63 yards in the team's 24-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The veteran wideout tied with Darren Waller and Wan'Dale Robinson for the team lead in receptions, while he outright topped the box score in targets and yards. Slayton continues to do enough to maintain his season-long lead as the best receiver on the Giants, but when compared to the rest of the league, he's well below average. The 26-year-old can remain on waiver wires across all formats.

From RotoBaller

Dec 16 10:30am ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton continues to play the majority of the snaps as an outside receiver in this New York offense but is not a favorite target for quarterback Tommy Devito. The veteran hasn't secured more than three catches in three of the last four games. DeVito doesn't put the ball in the air enough to consistently support any wideout. It doesn't help that the Giants' Week 15 opponent, the New Orleans Saints, own the third-best defense against fantasy wideouts in the past four weeks. Slayton can remain on waiver wires across all formats.

Dec 9 11:40am ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton hopes to see his snap counts bump back up following a neck injury in Week 11. The veteran was listed as doubtful in the following game but was a surprise active. Likely due to the lack of preparation, Slayton saw his snap shares dip into the 50 percent range. Before the injury, he had been a staple on the outside of the New York offense, albeit with limited production. His 435 receiving yards leads the team but ranks 70th in the entire NFL. Slayton can remain on the waiver wire across all fantasy football formats.

Nov 24 12:20pm ET

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that wide receiver Darius Slayton (neck) will not practice on Friday and is expected to be listed as doubtful to play in Week 12 this Sunday against the New England Patriots. Offensive lineman Evan Neal (ankle) has been ruled out, while defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence (hamstring) is also expected to be doubtful. It would be Lawrence's first game missed due to injury in his five-year career. Slayton's injury comes at a bad time after he just has his best game of the season in the Week 11 win over the Washington Commanders, when he had four catches for a season-high 82 yards and his first touchdown of the year. With Slayton likely out on Sunday, Sterling Shepard, Isaiah Hodgins and rookie Jalin Hyatt could see more targets, albeit in a sluggish offense led by undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy Devito.

Nov 23 7:30pm ET

New York Giants wide receivers Darius Slayton (neck) and Sterling Shepard (back) both practiced on Thursday. Slayton practiced in a limited capacity while Shepard was a full participant. Slayton caught four passes for 82 yards and one touchdown last week, putting him on the fantasy radar as a WR4. Shepard, on the other hand, lacks fantasy appealing heading into the Giants' Week 12 clash with the Patriots.

From RotoBaller

Nov 22 1:00pm ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (neck), who is dealing with a neck injury and not an arm ailment, will not practice on Wednesday. Slayton injured his neck late in the first half of the Week 11 win over the Washington Commanders and was unable to return in the second half. Before the injury, he had four catches on five targets for a season-high 82 yards and his first touchdown of the year. Unfortunately, the injury appears to be serious enough to potentially keep him sidelined for the Week 12 contest against the New England Patriots. Slayton has two more days to get back on the practice field and prove he's ready to go. If he's unable to do that, it could open up more opportunities for Sterling Shepard, Isaiah Hodgins and rookie Jalin Hyatt in the passing game.

Nov 19 9:50pm ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (arm) got loose for a 40-yard touchdown, his first of the season, to help propel the Giants past the Washington Commanders in Week 11. However, he departed the game after landing hard while attempting to make a catch. He was later ruled out with that injury, and the team will provide more details on the ailment later in the week. Before leaving the game, the veteran led the team in receiving with 82 yards on four catches. Undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy Devito had the best game of his young career, which ignited the passing game for the first time this season. It helped that New York was facing one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. The matchup gets a little tougher next week when the Giants host the New England Patriots.

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (arm) is questionable to return in Week 11 versus the Washington Commanders. He had been playing well at the time of his departure, hauling in four of five targets for 82 yards and one touchdown. Saquon Barkley, Daniel Bellinger, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt should handle more targets until Slayton is able to return.

From RotoBaller

Nov 18 10:50am ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton continues to play the majority of the wide receiver snaps as the G-Men head into their Week 11 matchup against the Washington Commanders. Unfortunately, it has coincided with very little production. The veteran's season-high marks sit at four catches and 69 yards. Against Washington in Week 7, he logged just one catch for 22 yards. Despite the great matchup against a bad Washington secondary, Slayton and the rest of the New York pass catchers can't be counted upon in any fantasy football format. Undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy Devito has yet to show he can lead an offense to any sort of success. Slayton can remain on waiver wires this week, and likely for the rest of the season.

From RotoBaller

Nov 10 5:20pm ET

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton continues to dominate snap counts as an outside wide receiver, but his production doesn't excite fantasy football managers. Last week, Slayton led all New York receivers with 59 yards. That was his third-best mark of the season. Undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy Devito will be throwing passes once again, meaning there aren't any receivers worth trusting from the Giants' offense. Slayton can remain on waiver wires across all formats heading into Week 10. It would be a surprise for him to do enough to warrant roster consideration in future weeks.
