2020 RTSports Outlook

Mostert was finally getting some chances on the field but broke his arm Week 9, ending his season early. He looked pretty good before getting hurt, though. He averaged 7.7 yards per carry and topped 80-rushing yards twice despite having double-digit carries just once all season. He made some big plays with his chances. Mostert will compete for the No. 3 or 4 running back spot this year. Mostert had never topped 30-rushing yards in a season before last year. He doesn't have great size for the position and lacks a little thump, but has good speed and moves in space. He also needs to improve as a receiver, failing to have a catch until last season.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Mostert was a huge surprise last year after doing next to nothing his first three seasons in the league. He might not get as much work this year, though, having a lot to compete with for touches. He could get around 300 total yards.

RotoBaller's Outlook

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert has found himself to have a potentially viable role as a fantasy back this season. With the injury to Jerick McKinnon, Mostert finds himself the third back on the 49ers depth chart. Mostert has bounced around the league since being drafted, but averaged 7.7 yards per carry on 34 carries last season. However, it is still an uphill battle for Mostert to get significant playing time, as he would likely require an injury to both Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida to see significant playing time. Mostert is not someone you should be looking to draft right now, but he is a player to add to your watch list as a potential in season pick up if the opportunity arises.

San Francisco 49ers RBs Raheem Mostert (3.5) and Matt Breida (3.3) ranked first and second, respectively, in the league among running backs in average yards before contact per attempt last season.

From TheHuddle

Feb 3 12:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert handled 12 carries for 58 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He also caught a pass for two yards. Mostert again manned the backfield, out touching Tevin Coleman 12 to five. Mostert ripped a handful of his typical long gains but came nowhere near his four-touchdown eruption in the NFC Championship. His score came on a one-yard third quarter plunge. After a breakout regular season with 952 scrimmage yards, 10 touchdowns and a spectacular playoff run, Mostert should be the favorite to lead the Niners backfield in 2020. However, due to the Niners structure rushing committee, hell likely enter fantasy drafts as a mid-tier RB2.

Feb 2 10:23pm ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 20 of his 31 passes for 219 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in a 31-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV Sunday, Feb. 2. RB Raheem Mostert rushed 12 times for 58 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for two yards, and RB Tevin Coleman rushed five times for 28 yards and caught one pass for three yards. WR Deebo Samuel caught five passes for 39 yards and rushed three times for 53 yards, WR Emmanuel Sanders caught three of his five targets for 38 yards, and TE George Kittle hauled in four passes for 36 yards. FB Kyle Juszczyk caught three passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. SS Jimmie Ward notched a game-high 11 tackles, DE Nick Bosa recorded a sack, and DL DeForest Buckner logged 1.5 sacks.

From TheHuddle

Jan 31 12:30pm ET

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert is the favorite to lead the Super Bowl in rushing this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Fresh off a four-touchdown bonanza in the NFC Championship, Mostert draws a Chiefs Defense that ranked 29th in rushing DVOA during the regular season. The fifth-year breakout star will likely share touches with Tevin Coleman (shoulder) and Matt Breida, but hes been the most effective runner throughout the season. Mostert will be a popular DFS and prop bet candidate heading into the biggest game of his career.

From RotoBaller

Jan 23 2:53pm ET

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert gained 158 of his 220 rushing yards after contact in the NFC Championship Game win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Jan. 19. It was the most yards after contact by a running back in the postseason since 2006.

Fantasy Spin: Next up is a Chiefs run defense that surrendered 128.2 yards per game during the regular season -- seventh most in the league -- but the larger fantasy question is whether Mostert will enter 2020 as the Niners' lead back. A standout game on the Super Bowl stage surely will go a long way toward cementing that.

From TheHuddle

Jan 20 10:30pm ET

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert exploded for 220 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship. He also caught two passes for six yards. Mostert was unstoppable on Sunday, converting three rushing scores of 36, nine and 18 in the first half. He capped his evening with a 22-yard touchdown in the third quarter. The fifth-year breakout player was the star in the Niners easy 37-20 victory and will again lead the backfield into the Super Bowl in two weeks against the Kansas City Chiefs.

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries in a 37-20 win over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 19, becoming the first player in NFL history to rush for at least 200 yards and four touchdowns in a playoff game.

Jan 19 10:23pm ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed six of his eight passes for 77 yards in a 37-20 win over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 19. RB Raheem Mostert rushed 29 times for 220 yards and four touchdowns and caught two passes for six yards, and RB Tevin Coleman rushed six times for 21 yards. WR Deebo Samuel caught two passes for 46 yards and rushed twice for 43 yards, TE George Kittle caught his only target for 19 yards, and WR Emmanuel Sanders was held without a catch on one target. DE Joey Bosa and DL Arik Armstead both recorded a sack.

From TheHuddle

Jan 18 1:23pm ET

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert is the only player since special-teams tackles were first tracked in 2001 to lead his team in rushing yards and special-teams tackles in the same season.

Fantasy Spin: While Mostert is a breakout talent who led the Niners in rushing in each of their last six regular-season games, keep in mind that it was Tevin Coleman who led the squad in rushing attempts (22), yards (105) and touchdown runs (2) in the divisional-round playoff win over the Vikings as Mostert (12-58-0) battled a calf cramp which he said was an after affect of an illness he dealt with the week leading up to the game. In the meantime, it's a plus matchup Sunday against a Packers defense which allowed the ninth-most rushing yards (120.1) per game during the regular season.

From TheHuddle

Jan 17 6:03pm ET

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert (calf) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 17, and is not on the injury report for the NFC Championship game.

Fantasy Spin: Mostert will have a solid role in the running game against the Green Bay Packers and could see a few targets in the passing game. He has a chance to be a flex option in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jan 17 11:40am ET

San Francisco 49ers running backs Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert are both bankable DFS options in Sundays NFC Championship against the Green Bay Packers. The two backs combined for 163 rushing yards in the Divisional Round, with Coleman riding a hot hand to two touchdowns. Considered a backup for the latter half of the regular season, Coleman played 46 percent of snaps last Sunday compared to Mosterts 34 percent. While the touch forecast for either back is cloudy, the Niners draw one of the worst run defenses in the NFL. The Packers ranked 23rd in rushing DVOA during the regular season with the second-worst defensive line in the league, yielding 4.96 adjusted yards per carry. With a likely floor of 10 touches for each Coleman and Mostert, both runners have great opportunities to make a splash.

Jan 16 5:13pm ET

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert (calf) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Spin: Mostert's on track to play in the NFC Championship Sunday, Jan. 19. He took a back seat to RB Tevin Coleman in the Divisional Round game against the Minnesota Vikings, but he was still able to rack up 58 yards and 12 carries. He's worth starting, but Coleman should be viewed as the better option.

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert (calf) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Spin: Mostert has received at least 10 carries in each of the last six games and should have a similar role this week. He can be a flex option in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jan 11 7:53pm ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo went 11-for-19 for 131 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Minnesota Vikings in the Divisional Round playoff game. RB Tevin Coleman rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. RB Raheem Mostert rushed for 58 yards on 12 carries, while RB Matt Breida rushed for 17 yards on eight carries. WR Deebo Samuel caught three passes for 42 yards on six targets. WR Kendrick Bourne caught three passes for 40 yards and one touchdown on five targets. WR Emmanuel Sanders caught two passes for 33 yards on two targets, while TE George Kittle caught three passes for 16 yards on five targets.

From TheHuddle

Jan 11 7:50pm ET

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert handled 12 carries for 58 yards in the Divisional Round victory against the Minnesota Vikings. Mostert assumed his usual top dog role to start the game but eventually yielded touches to Tevin Coleman, who went off for 105 yards and two scores. Mostert also recovered a critical fumble in the fourth quarter to help put the game on ice. As is the risk with the Niners rushing committee, a hot-hand approach was deployed on Saturday, which marginalized Mosterts opportunities. Still performing well and a big part of the offense, Mostert could be a value RB2 fantasy option in the NFC Championship.

From RotoBaller

Jan 9 3:30pm ET

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert should carry the torch as lead runner in the Divisional Round against the Minnesota Vikings. Although the Niners deploy a rushing committee, Mostert emerged as the most consistent option to end the regular season, logging roughly 50 percent of snaps and dominating touches. After breaking out for 952 scrimmage yards on just 151 touches, the fifth-year back and the Niners stout offensive line draw a formidable Vikings Defense ranked ninth in rush DVOA. While the Vikings excel at short-yardage stops, theyve scuffled on a play-to-play basis, surrendering 4.59 adjusted line yards per carry (eighth worst). This bodes well for the shifty Mostert, who can find open space in a hurry. Priced as a high-end RB2, Mostert is a worthy fantasy option heading into the critical playoff weekend.

Dec 30 11:30am ET

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert handled 10 carries for 57 yards and two touchdowns in Week 17 against the Seattle Seahawks. He also cradled a 16-yard reception. Mostert continued playing as the workhorse and best running back in the Niners committee, converting two red zone rushes of two and 13 yards in the second half to help secure the critical victory. The breakout fifth-year back finishes the regular season with 772 rush yards, 180 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns despite not being anointed the full-time starter until Week 13. Averaging a crisp 6.3 yards per touch, Mostert will be a solid RB2 in two weeks in the Divisional playoff round.

From RotoBaller

Dec 30 12:53am ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 18 of 22 passes for 285 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions during the team's Week 17 win over the Seattle Seahawks. RB Raheem Mostert carried the ball 10 times for 57 yards and two touchdowns. WR Deebo Samuel caught five passes for 102 yards; he also ran twice for 33 yards and a score. TE George Kittle had seven receptions for 86 yards and added a seven-yard run. WR Emmanuel Sanders posted three catches for 25 yards. RB Matt Breida had four carries for 16 yards while RB Tevin Coleman gained 11 yards on five rushing attempts.

From TheHuddle

Dec 27 2:00pm ET

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert has not relinquished control of the backfield since taking over in Week 13 and will be a steady RB2 in Week 17 against the Seattle Seahawks. Mostert out-touched other Niners backs by a 11-8 margin last Saturday and will draw a soft Seahawks rush defense ranked 26th by DVOA. The breakout fifth-year back has scored in five consecutive contests and should again be the rushing focal point of a Niners offense hoping to grind out a victory on the road and secure the No. 1 seed.

From RotoBaller

Dec 22 2:20am ET

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert had 53 yards and a touchdown off of 11 carries during the narrow win over the Rams on Saturday. These types of performances have been relatively routine for the 27-year-old from a yardage standpoint, and while he continues to semi-split carries with Tevin Coleman, he has now scored in five-straight contests. Look for Mostert to continue to be involved in a crucial game with the Seahawks in Week 17, with Seattle allowing a sixth-worst 28.18 fantasy points to opposing backs over the last month.
