Dec 31 1:53am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald caught three of his six targets for 39 yards in Week 17 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Spin: At what proved to be another brutal season for the tight end position in fantasy, McDonald finally stayed healthy and posted career-best totals across the board with 50 receptions, 610 yards and four touchdowns. While Jesse James will almost certainly continue to steal snaps from him again in 2019, McDonald figures to be in line to repeat this season's production if he proves he proves this year's durability was not a fluke, making him a low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues.

Dec 30 10:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald caught three passes for 39 yards in a 16-13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 17. McDonald finishes the 2018 season with 50 catches for 610 yards and four touchdowns, setting or tying career highs across the board. While he didn't flash much upside outside of a four-catch, 112-yard Week 3 explosion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McDonald has emerged as a reliable, low-end TE1 in fantasy. He should be a solid late-round value at the position again in 2019.

Dec 23 10:43pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald had just one grab in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints, but he made it worth it for 49 yards on his four targets.

Fantasy Spin: McDonald has been dealing with some injuries down the stretch. He can be a legitimate TE1 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams when he is 100 percent healthy.

Dec 23 9:50pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald caught one of four targets for 49 yards in a 31-28 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 16. While McDonald wasn't heavily targeted, at least his lone catch went for a large chunk of yardage. McDonald has had some big weeks for the Steelers this season but he has been an inconsistent fantasy asset. He has a chance for a big game in Week 17 against a Cincinnati Bengals defense that has been generous to opposing passing games this season. Treat McDonald as a low-end TE1 for that contest.

Dec 17 2:23am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald finished with two catches for 13 yards and a touchdown on three targets in Week 15 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Spin: McDonald figured to be busy in Week 15 with the Patriots expected to do everything in their power to contain Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster, but he was mostly invisible from the game plan after his early touchdown. Nevertheless, his score alone made him worth a start in fantasy. McDonald is unlikely to enjoy the same success in Week 16, however, as the New Orleans Saints have been among the best in the league all season at defending tight ends.

Dec 16 9:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald caught two passes for 13 yards and a touchdown in his team's 17-10 win over the New England Patriots in Week 15. McDonald got the Steelers off to a fast start, capping off their first drive with a seven-yard touchdown reception. McDonald has been a borderline TE1/TE2 throughout the season, which will be the case in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints.

Dec 12 11:20am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald will take on the New England Patriots in Week 15. While McDonald has put together some slow outings of late, he does draw a favorable matchup against New England. The Patriots have struggled to contain opposing tight ends this season, ranking 11th in fantasy points allowed to the position. While McDonald has bust potential, his upside at a lean tight end position makes him a low-end TE1 for the fantasy semifinals.

Dec 9 10:40pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald caught all four of his targets for 37 yards in a 24-21 loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 14. While McDonald finished third on the team in receiving, it goes down as a disappointing performance against an Oakland defense that has been unable to slow tight ends in fantasy all season. McDonald will hope to bounce back in Week 15 against the New England Patriots.

Dec 5 10:00am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald finds himself with a great matchup against the Oakland Raiders in Week 14. Oakland's defense has struggled to contain tight ends for several years, which has been the case again in 2018. The Raiders' pass defense ranks dead last in the league in DVOA against tight ends and is allowing the most fantasy points per game to the position this season. McDonald has been a bit boom/bust this season but he can be used as a low-end TE1 for his matchup in Week 14.

Dec 3 2:03am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald caught four passes for 28 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Spin: McDonald had some good games early, but it's now six and counting since he last topped 50 receiving yards in a game. He's a desperation play.

Dec 3 12:00am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald caught four passes for 28 yards in a 33-30 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13. McDonald, who dealt with a hip injury this past week, was able to play through the ailment to finish third on the team with seven targets. While he has been inconsistent this season, McDonald has enough potential to boom to keep slotting him into fantasy lineups. The veteran tight end will take on the Oakland Raiders in Week 14.

Nov 30 4:33pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 30, and is not on the injury report for Week 13.

Fantasy Spin: McDonald has been targeted at least five times in three of the last four games and has two touchdowns during that span but has been held to under 50 yards in all of those games. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues but is not a must-start option.

Nov 29 4:33pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (hip) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 29.

Fantasy Spin: McDonald has been held to under 50 yards in each of the last five games but also has two touchdowns in the last three games. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in some leagues but is not a must-start option.

Nov 29 4:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald (hip) practiced in full on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday. McDonald should be able to play on Sunday night against the Chargers. The oft-injured tight end has exactly three catches for 27 yards in each of the last two games, and he's found the end zone twice in the last three games. Consider him a low-end, touchdown-dependent TE1 this Sunday night.

From RotoBaller

Nov 28 4:40pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald (hip) was held out of practice on Wednesday. McDonald caught three of five targets for 27 yards in the Week 12 loss to the Broncos and is in danger of missing the Sunday night game against the Chargers. McDonald will be extremely risky if he's questionable for the Sunday night game. If he sits out, Jesse James would be in consideration as a low-end TE1 streamer.

From RotoBaller

Nov 28 4:33pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (hip) was not able to practice Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Fantasy Spin: McDonald has an uphill battle to play this week. If he continues to miss practice then have Jesse James primed and ready to go as he would start in McDonald's place.

Nov 27 2:53pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (hip) will be limited early this week with the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 12.

Fantasy Spin: McDonald has served in an underrated capacity in Pittsburgh's high-flying offense, but if he can't get to full health before game day then look for Jesse James to see more targets.

Nov 27 1:30pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said tight end Vance McDonald (hip) will be limited in practice early in the week. McDonald had three catches on five targets for 27 yards in the Week 12 loss to the Broncos, but he's found pay dirt in two of the last three games. McDonald is a low-end, touchdown-dependent TE1 if he plays in Week 13 on Sunday night against the Chargers.

From RotoBaller

Nov 25 9:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald caught three passes for 27 yards in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos. It goes down as a disappointing performance on an afternoon where Ben Roethlisberger passed for 462 yards. McDonald has been a solid fantasy tight end this season but he's going to have some games like this thanks to the fact he's the fourth or fifth option in the passing game. Pittsburgh takes on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13.

From RotoBaller

Nov 21 7:20am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Vance McDonald has found the end zone in two straight games and will be looking to keep that streak going in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos. Denver has struggled to contain opposing tight ends this season, allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to the position. McDonald has carved out a solid role in the Pittsburgh passing offense this season and has been useful as a low-end TE1 or high-end TE2 in most weeks. He settles into that range yet again in Week 12 against Denver.
