Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is in for a tasty treat in a matchup versus the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Mahomes is coming off of a three touchdown performance on Thursday versus the Texans and will look to keep the momentum going. Arguably the best fantasy quarterback, Mahomes faces a Chargers team that he tore up in 2019 for six touchdowns, zero interceptions and 499 yards over two contests. Making things more favorable, the Chargers Defense will be without linebacker Drue Tranquill (ankle) and their star defensive lineman Joey Bosa (triceps) banged up, but expected to play. It should be a given that managers should start Mahomes every time out, but Sundays matchup could be extra special.

Sep 10 11:43pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 24 of his 32 pass attempts for 211 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-20 win over the Houston Texans in Week 1.

Fantasy Spin: Mahomes didn't throw for a ton of yards, but he was efficient as the Chiefs cruised to the victory. Even if he doesn't thrown for 300-plus yards every game, multiple touchdowns and QB1 numbers should remain the weekly norms for Mahomes.

Sep 10 11:30pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes started his season on a high note on Thursday night against the Houston Texans. The Super Bowl MVP was 24-for-32 and racked up just 211 yards, but threw for three touchdowns with zero interceptions. Its no shock to fantasy managers that Mahomes is one of the best options in all formats and he will head into a matchup versus the Chargers in a favorable matchup on Sunday. Mahomes can safely be started every week other than his bye week.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' 10-year, $450 million deal includes insurance in the event that an injury prevents Mahomes from being available to play. It also includes salary cap protection.

Fantasy Spin: Mahomes is a top-two option at the position in fantasy. Last season's dislocated knee was a scare, but it was a fluky thing. Have confidence in your stud QB every week.

Sep 8 5:20pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a 108.2 passer rating in games that the Chiefs have lost, including the playoffs, in his time as a starter the last two full seasons. His passer rating for all games, including the playoffs, sits at 108.6. In Mahomes' 36 career starts, including the postseason, the Chiefs are 28-8 (.778). The Super Bowl MVP has never had a QBR below 52.6 in the seven games the team has lost when he has started. It goes to show how good Mahomes has been so far in his career, even when KC winds up on the losing end. The 24-year-old signed a 10-year, $503 million extension and will remain with the Chiefs through the 2031 season. He came off fantasy boards early in drafts as the first or second QB and will be a must-start all year long, including on Thursday night in the 2020 season opener against Houston.

Aug 27 8:50pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has made it cool to pick quarterbacks in the first round of fantasy drafts again. Even despite a gruesome dislocated knee last year, Mahomes enters the new season as a Super Bowl champion and arguably the top signal caller on the board. With all of his pass-catching weapons returning, Mahomes is an obvious must start in every season-long league, in addition to having considerable DFS appeal no matter his opponent. Hell have an especially exploitable matchup to begin the year Sept. 10 when he faces a Texans Defense that he carved up for five touchdowns and 51 points during the postseason in 2019. There are few players in the entire league that boasts floors comparable to Mahomes, the highest-paid player in major American sports history.

Knowing that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is under contract with the team for the next 12 years, 62-year-old head coach Andy Reid isn't even considering retirement anytime soon. If Reid were to stick around until the end of Mahomes' extension, he'd be 74 years old. Bills great Marv Levy and Bears founder George Halas coached when they were 72 years old. The combination of Reid and Mahomes could be great for a long time to come, and some are discussing their names with the likes of great coach/quarterback couplings such as Belichick and Brady, Payton and Brees and Walsh and Montana.

Jul 6 4:20pm ET

The Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes agreed to a 10-year contract extension on Monday, according to a league source. The deal that ties Mahomes to Kansas City through the 2031 season will be the richest contract in NFL history. Last year's Super Bowl MVP had two years remaining on his contract, so it's essentially a 12-year contract in total. Mahomes' extension is worth over $400 million in total, and sources think it will be tied to a percentage of the salary cap for each season. Cha ching. Mahomes cashes in after winning MVP in 2018 with 50 regular season touchdowns and leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl title last season. His dual-threat ability makes him extremely dangerous on the football field in KC's explosive offense. Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are the top two fantasy signal-callers in 2020.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes agreed to terms on a 10-year contract extension with the Chiefs Monday, July 6, that will run through the 2031 season, according to sources. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the contract with be the richest contract in NFL history.

Fantasy Spin: Mahomes is coming off his first championship and is only 24 years old, so the Chiefs locked him up for most of the rest of his career. He is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL and is a must-start in all fantasy leagues.

Jul 6 3:02pm ET

Adam Schefter is reporting the Chiefs and QB Patrick Mahomes have reached an agreement on a 10-year contract extension that ties him to Kansas City through the 2031 season.

Jul 2 3:43pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 15 passes of at least 40 yards during the 2019 season, which ranked second among quarterbacks.

Fantasy Spin: Mahomes was one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL last season and will be one of the first quarterbacks selected in fantasy drafts this season. He is a must-start fantasy option no matter the opponent.

From TheHuddle

Jun 30 10:40pm ET

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo believes that Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones deserves a long-term contract extension, but with the team not making an offer at $20 million per season or more, it could be unlikely that he agrees to a deal before the July 15 deadline. Under the franchise tag in 2020, Jones would make around $16 million. The Chiefs apparently don't think he's worth that amount, so there's a lot of work to be done if the two sides don't iron some things out. There's also the situation of extending Super Bowl MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes, so Jones is on the backburner. Jones also threatened a potential holdout on his Twitter account. Most likely, the 25-year-old will play under the tag this year, where he'll be a low-end starting defensive lineman for IDP owners.

Jun 15 9:30pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and other players on the offensive end have been holding workouts despite the unavailability of team facilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite suffering a knee injury during the Thursday night game against the Denver Broncos, the former MVP still finished the regular season with 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns (five interceptions) throughout 14 games. With Mahomes and company putting in work while others aren't able, he has a good chance to reclaim the top spot as the top fantasy signal-caller in 2020.

Jun 15 6:00pm ET

The Kansas City Chiefs come in at No. 5 on the list of the best trench teams in the league, per's Bucky Brooks. Mitchell Schwartz could be the best right tackle in football, and Eric Fisher is a stout blind-side protector for Patrick Mahomes. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is an underrated blocker with a tenacious demeanor and playing style. On the defensive side, Chris Johns and Frank Clark are alpha dogs with disruptive games and high motors. If the duo can stay healthy this season, Kansas City's defense could emerge as a top-10 unit in 2020. The Chiefs also have some playmakers in the second and third levels of the defense, which will put them on the radar as a low-end starting unit in fantasy football circles.

Jun 15 5:53pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes recorded 1,141 yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions on passes of traveled at least 20 yards during the 2019 regular season and postseason.

Fantasy Spin: Mahomes may be the top quarterback in the NFL at this point and should continue to post terrific numbers in the team's high-powered offense. He will be one of the first quarterbacks selected in fantasy drafts and is a must-start option.

From TheHuddle

Jun 4 9:53pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' 93.7 Pro Football Focus grade is the highest of any quarterback over their first three seasons in the NFL.

From TheHuddle

Jun 2 12:50pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' expected completion rate on deep passes is higher than most QBs in the league because of his speedy weapons, namely receiver Tyreek Hill, whose 18 touchdowns on deep targets since 2016 is second-most in the NFL behind Antonio Brown. Mahomes had a 30.3 percent rate of targets considered to be open on deep passes, which was the highest in the league. He was 7-for-11 on deep passes for 257 yards and four TDs in Week 2 against the Raiders, with his receivers being open on 27.3 percent of those 11 deep attempts. Mahomes leads the NFL with 25 deep-pass touchdowns since 2018, and although his receivers have made it easier on him, he's still an elite athlete with an elite arm. His 2019 season wasn't as good as his 2018 MVP campaign, but we still wouldn't blame you if you took him as the top QB1 over Lamar Jackson this year.
