2019 RTSports Outlook

Hooper had his best season to date, ranking sixth overall in fantasy tight end scoring. He was consistent nearly all season, having at least three receptions 13 games. He finished with a career-high 71 receptions. His yardage numbers weren't great, failing to top 80 yards in any game. Hooper has 500-plus yards two straight season. He has emerged as a serious threat in the Falcons passing game and should be a fixture in this offense for years to come. Hooper can be a top target at tight end because of his athleticism and speed. He isn't much of a blocker, though, and drops can be an issue.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Hooper is a top-10 fantasy tight end. He will get his catches in this offense. Just don't expect his yardage and touchdown totals to be very good. He has just 10 scores in three years. Expect around 70 receptions for 700 yards and five or so scores.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper was quietly the TE6 in PPR scoring during the 2018 season. He set career highs in targets (88), catches (71), yards (660), and touchdowns (four). The fourth-year tight end has shown improvement every season of his career and is primed to do so again in 2019. Hooper isn't a traditional red zone threat in the Atlanta offense but he should operate as the third option in the passing game behind star Julio Jones and second-year wideout Calvin Ridley. Early ADP has Hooper coming off the board as the TE11, usually in the 10th round of 12-team drafts. That establishes Hooper as a nice value come draft day, especially for owners who choose to wait on the position. If he can take another step forward, especially in the touchdown-scoring department, Hooper will be a steal in fantasy drafts in 2019.

Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper had a quiet game on Thursday with just one reception for two yards on two targets. The Falcons had a pretty run-heavy attack during the game with over 30 rushes compared to just 20 pass attempts. Hooper is a low-end starting option at tight end this year. He totalled 660 receiving yards and four touchdowns last year and is likely to be right around those same numbers this year.

Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper made only three catches for 20 yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Jets, but he made some tough catches in coverage. He also ran a lot of the same routes that Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez used to run while in Dirk Koetter's system. The 24-year-old had his best season in his third year in 2018, catching 71 passes for 660 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games. In an offense that remains as explosive as they come, Hooper will continue to be a safety blanket for quarterback Matt Ryan. He finished as the No. 6 fantasy tight end in PPR leagues last year and should be seen as a low-end TE1 heading into his fourth campaign.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (ankle) will participate in training camp after missing minicamp due to an ankle injury.

Fantasy Spin: Hooper is coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance as he heads into his fourth season in the NFL. The former third-round pick caught 71 of 88 targets for 660 yards and four touchdowns in his breakout season and has top-10 upside at his position under the direction of new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.

Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn feels tight end Austin Hooper might be primed and ready to step up his play in 2019. Hooper, who is in a contract year, posted career highs across the board with 71 grabs, 660 yards and four touchdown in 2018 while being targeted 88 times. "Now, he's ready to go to another level, and I'm looking forward to seeing him make that growth," Quinn said. "The addition of having (tight ends coach Mike Mularkey) here, he's done everything that Mike has asked in terms of getting him ready." Hooper is worth targeting as a low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues heading into 2019.

From RotoBaller

Jul 17 11:03am ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught 71 of 88 targets last season for an 80.7 percent catch ratio. In comparison, former TE Tony Gonzalez's best catch ratio was 75 percent in 2012. 'Hooper, the improvement just keeps getting better,' Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said. 'Now, he's ready to go to another level, and I'm looking forward to seeing him make that growth.'

Fantasy Spin: That catch ratio can be looked at in different lenses and could be an aberration. Hooper delivered a 71-660-4 season, and he could improve upon that or level off. He's a solid midrange TE1 in PPR formats.

Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper (ankle) will not take part in minicamp. However, his injury is not considered serious and he's expected to be ready for training camp this summer. The 24-year-old had a career year in 2018, catching 71 passes for 660 yards and four touchdowns in his second full season in his three years in the NFL. In an Atlanta offense that remains extremely potent, Hooper must not be forgotten as a low-end TE1 with upside left heading into his fourth NFL season.

From RotoBaller

Jun 6 9:33pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (undisclosed) did not practice Thursday, June 6.

Fantasy Spin: At this point, there is nothing to indicate that Hooper is dealing with any type of serious injury. He doesn't have the athleticism to produce elite fantasy numbers, but he is a steady target for Matt Ryan. Hooper can be a dependable, albeit low-end, TE1.

From TheHuddle

Apr 18 10:03pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper said he likes the passing attack for 2019 and is excited to work with tight ends coach Mike Mularkey.

Fantasy Spin: Hooper is never going to be an elite fantasy tight end, but he does have a steady role at a position that lacks much depth. He is a safe, lower-end TE1.
