2019 RTSports Outlook

Prescott posted his usual consistent fantasy numbers as the starter for the Cowboys. He was 11th overall in fantasy scoring and had 28 total touchdowns for the second straight season. Prescott had eight multiple touchdown games and scores all but three games. He threw for a career-high 3,885 yards, getting a few more chances to air it out compared to past seasons. He also saw his numbers take off last year after the team acquired Amari Cooper, giving him a true No. 1 receiver. Prescott will continue to start for the Cowboys and serve as their top signal caller. Prescott is an accurate quarterback that makes great decisions. He does a good job of taking care of the football but isn't afraid to take chances down the field. He also can make plays with his legs, rushing for more than 900 yards while scoring six rushing touchdowns each of his first three seasons in the NFL. The Cowboys are more of a run-first team but Prescott gets his weekly chances in this offense.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Prescott is just outside the group of top-10 quarterbacks. He is consistent most weeks but not off the charts. Consider him more of a platoon option for fantasy teams, pairing him with another solid quarterback. His passing yardage numbers won't be off the charts, but he'll score around 30 touchdowns and run for around 300 yards.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Dak Prescott is a middle of the road fantasy backup that will have five or six standout performances. There are just so many quality quarterbacks to choose from in 2019, and Prescott sits in that third tier with guys like Lamar Jackson and Jameis Winston. I would recommend paying attention to his schedule if youre going to draft him. The Cowboys do have some tough games against defenses like the Patriots, Bears, Bills and Jets. Just make sure whoever your starter may be has solid matchups in those weeks. You dont want your starter on a bye or in a tough matchup with the one time you have to use Prescott is against an elite defense. If Prescott fits your team and lines up well with your starter, hes a great QB2 that has running upside and is safe through the air in the right matchups. Target him in the last couple rounds of your draft if you have a deep bench, and don't worry if you have to make a pivot to one of the other seven or eight quarterbacks with similar upside.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott completed all five of his passes in Saturday's preseason game, gaining 64 yards. As expected, Prescott didn't play much but he should get a larger share of at least the first half in the Cowboys dress rehearsal next week. With Ezekiel Elliott far from a sure thing for Week 1, Prescott may have a bit more on his shoulders than expected to start the season.

From RotoBaller

Aug 13 8:53pm ET

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Tuesday, Aug. 13, he's willing to continue contract negotiations with QB Dak Prescott, RB Ezekiel Elliott and WR Amari Cooper in the regular season.

Fantasy Spin: This is least promising for Elliott, who has said he won't play this season without a new deal. With Jerry apparently willing to play hardball, drafting the elite running back won't be for the faint of heart.

From TheHuddle

Aug 11 12:30am ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott completed all four of his pass attempts on Saturday night, gaining 23 yards. Prescott wasn't in there for long, but 4-for-4 is certainly an encouraging first start. Prescott was without running back Ezekiel Elliott and may end up being without him once the season begins, but the Cowboys should have enough talent around him to make things work. Prescott is a decent depth quarterback and 2QB option, but shouldn't be relied on as a starter in a standard league.

From RotoBaller

Aug 6 2:23pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, RB Ezekiel Elliott and WR Amari Cooper have each reportedly received a contract offer from the team that would put each one in the top five highest-paid players at their position in the league, according to NFL Network's Jane Slater.

From TheHuddle

Jul 23 4:10pm ET

Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick will not need to be placed on the Active/PUP list to begin training camp. Frederick missed all of the 2018 season because of Guillain-Barre Syndrome but is now "ready to go" according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. The Dallas offensive line took a noticeable step back without Frederick anchoring the middle of it, so his presence should be a boost for the entire Cowboys offense, but especially for running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott.

From RotoBaller

Jul 13 12:03pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott doesn't plan to give his team a hometown discount when it comes to negotiating a contract extension. He is entering the final season of his current contract but no deal appears to be imminent.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott posted solid numbers toward the end of last season, completing 72 percent of his passes for 18 touchdowns and four interceptions after the midseason acquisition of WR Amari Cooper. Based on his potential and the offensive weapons surrounding him, he should be viewed as a low-end QB1 in most formats, although he could be drafted at a mid-range QB2 price tag in many leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jun 30 2:13pm ET

If Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott carries over his upward trajectory from the second half of the 2018 season and the postseason, the team's offense could reach the 'next level,' in the opinion of Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott finished 2018 strong and is a player with QB1 potential you can get for a QB2 price in drafts this summer.

From TheHuddle

Jun 14 2:03pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and his agent Todd France/CAA have extended a contract proposal to the team that would have Prescott earning close to $34 million annually, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations.

Fantasy Spin: The Cowboys have said they want to get a deal done with the QB, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, but it seems unlikely Prescott will -- or should -- reset the market for quarterback pay. In the meantime, though, Prescott could be a fantasy steal if you can get him at mid-level QB2 pricetag in drafts.

From TheHuddle

Jun 8 4:33pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has been talking to the Cowboys about a contract extension, but the two sides are not close at this point.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott likely will be looking for something similar to Carson Wentz's extension, and the Cowboys have a few months if they want to sign Prescott to an extension before the start of the regular season. Prescott posted solid numbers last season and will have a good group of pass catchers to work with in 2019. He can be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

May 22 4:53pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott said his representatives have made a counter proposal after receiving an initial contract offer from the Cowboys. Prescott said he is not sure how close the two sides are at this point.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott is entering the final year of his contract and likely will sign an extension this offseason. He has posted decent numbers over the last several seasons and likely will be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in 2019.

From TheHuddle

May 9 12:00am ET

The Dallas Cowboys have made a long-term contract offer to quarterback Dak Prescott and are currently awaiting a counter-offer. The Cowboys are "sold" on Prescott as their long-term future, according to owner Jerry Jones, but the two sides aren't "close" to ironing anything out just yet. However, it would be an upset if Prescott isn't locked up well before the start of the 2019 season. Dallas is fine with paying Prescott around $30 million a year. He will have wide receiver Amari Cooper for a full season this year, which should help his production improve from a game-to-game basis. Prescott is more of a low-end QB1 heading into this season.

From RotoBaller

May 8 4:10pm ET

Dallas Cowboys owners Jerry Jones said the team is "sold" on quarterback Dak Prescott and definitely want to get him signed to a long-term deal before the start of the 2019 season. "I am confident we will get this (deal) done," Jones said on Monday. Prescott, a fourth-round pick in 2016, has led the team to two division titles and 32 wins in the last three years. The 25-year-old is heading into his prime after passing for 3,885 yards, 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2018. He's more of a low-end QB1/high-end QB2 heading into the 2019 season, but Prescott has room to grow. The team is comfortable giving him around $30 million per season moving forward.

From RotoBaller

May 8 2:53pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has received an initial contact extension offer from the Cowboys, and the team is waiting for his counter offer, according to sources. The two sides are not believed to be close to any deal.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott likely will receive an extension at some point before the start of the season and should receive a lucrative deal. He has posted solid numbers over the last few seasons and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some leagues.

From TheHuddle

May 7 12:23pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and the team are reportedly working toward a contract extension that will approach $30 million annually, if not more, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Bolstered by the addition of WR Amari Cooper, Prescott found new fantasy life in the second half of last season and finished as a top-10 QB. He enters 2019 as a borderline QB1.

From TheHuddle

May 4 5:43pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott hopefully will sign a contract extension with the Cowboys before the start of the 2019 regular season, according to owner/general manager Jerry Jones and executive vice president Stephen Jones.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott was a solid fantasy option last season and will have a good group of pass catchers to work with this upcoming season. He has a chance to be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback in leagues.

From TheHuddle

Apr 9 1:50pm ET

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said on ESPN's 103.3 on Monday that the team would like to sign quarterback Dak Prescott to a long-term contract extension before the season starts. The Cowboys want Prescott to be paid fairly, but Jones also said it's "gotta be team-friendly." A new deal for Prescott could be in the average range of $25-28 million. The 25-year-old is heading into his fourth NFL season and had a career-high 3,885 yards, 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2018 while leading Dallas to the postseason. Prescott has a better receiving corps now with Amari Cooper set for a full season in Dallas, but until we see more, Prescott is more of a high-end QB2.

From RotoBaller

Apr 8 8:03pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is a candidate for a contract extension this offseason, but executive vice president Stephen Jones said Prescott likely will need to agree to a team-friendly extension so the team can build around him. Jones said Prescott deserves to be paid fairly in his next contract.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott is one of several players the Cowboys need to sign to a contract extension. He posted solid numbers last season and will have a solid group of pass catchers to work with in 2019. He probably should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in most leagues.

From TheHuddle

Mar 30 1:33pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has not started contract extension talks with the Cowboys at this point, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott is entering the final year of his contract, so he should receive an extension at some point this offseason. He will have a solid group of pass catchers to work with next season and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback or a strong No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Mar 2 12:43am ET

The Dallas Cowboys and representatives for impending free-agent QB Dak Prescott met in Indianapolis at the NFL Scouting Combine looking to nail down a deal, or at least make progress on a new deal. He is expected to fetch at least $20 million per season.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott had yet to pass for 4,000 yards in the NFL, but the Cowboys are apparently enamored with his play. The team recently re-signed Jason Witten after one year in the broadcast booth, and they're working toward re-upping with Amari Cooper. If the team can add a couple of decent pieces in the pass game via the draft or free agency, Prescott could improve in 2019 and be a bona fide QB1 in fantasy leagues across the board.

From TheHuddle

Feb 27 7:53pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott's agent is scheduled to meet with the Dallas Cowboys this week to talk about Prescott's next contract.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott has thrown for at least 22 touchdowns in each of the last three seasons and has thrown at least 3,600 in two of the last three seasons. He should have a solid group of receivers to work with in 2019 and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback or an elite No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.
