2020 RTSports Outlook

Prescott had a career year, finishing second overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. He threw for nearly 5,000 yards and had 33 total touchdowns to 11 interceptions. Prescott had 11 multiple touchdown games, posting consistent numbers throughout the season. He also had seven 300-yard games. He gets a new coach this year, Mike McCarthy, which could change things for him some going forward. The good news is Aaron Rodgers had his best seasons with McCarthy at the helm. He is a quarterback friendly coach that should get the best out of Prescott. Prescott has 28 or more touchdowns three straight seasons. Prescott is an accurate quarterback that makes great decisions. He does a good job of taking care of the football but isn't afraid to take chances down the field. He also can make plays with his legs, rushing for more than 1,200 yards while scoring six rushing touchdowns each of his first three seasons in the NFL.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Prescott has moved into the elite company of fantasy quarterbacks, especially after the hire of McCarthy. Plus, he has two great receivers to work with in the passing game and a top offensive line. Things are looking good for Prescott to enjoy another big season. Expect around 4,500-passing yards, 35 total touchdowns and around 300-rushing yards. He should be one of the first quarterbacks off the board come draft day.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been a good fantasy quarterback for a few years now, but 2020 should be his chance to jump into the elite tier. He had some flashes of elite quarterback play in 2019, but inefficiency in the passing game kept him from consistently strong performances. His running ability raises his floor and does help his ceiling a bit as well. With CeeDee Lamb joining Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and Ezekiel Elliott on the Cowboys offense, Prescott has almost an embarrassment of riches in terms of weapons to play with. There are some rumblings that Prescott hasn't been thrilled with the Cowboys regarding contract extension talks, but the prevailing thought is that it will all be worked out and Prescott will be a Cowboy for a long time. He's one of the better quarterback options in most fantasy formats thanks to his considerable upside paired with a high floor.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott signed a franchise tag last week that will pay him just over $30 million for his services in 2020. However, according to former NFL executive Andrew Brandt, the 26-year-old could see a contract better than that of Chiefs' Signal-caller Patrick Mahomes when he finally lands a new deal. Prescott threw for nearly 5,000 yards in 2019, while also adding 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions off of a 65.1 completion percentage. Regardless of his contract situation, with the Cowboys having some lethal options on the offensive end, he could be in store for his best season to date.

Jul 19 10:33pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott attempted 128 throws into tight coverage in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus. That mark was good for the third-highest total in the league, two behind second-place Andy Dalton, who was signed in free agency to back him up in 2020.

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott were involved in last-minute negotiations before the deadline on Wednesday to sign franchise-tagged players to deals, according to sources. The deal was for between $33-35 million annually, with $110 million guaranteed. Nothing came to fruition, so Prescott will make $31.4 million under the tag in 2020, with the two sides likely returning to the negotiating table next spring. They'll also have the option to franchise tag him again in 2021 for $37.69 million. Prescott reportedly turned down around $100 million in guarantees. He's betting on himself again this year to prove he's one of the top signal-callers in the league behind Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Prescott should be considered a midrange QB1 with plenty of upside in Dallas' explosive offense.

Jul 15 4:23pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott did not reach a long-term agreement with the Cowboys before the July 15 deadline and will play under the one-year franchise tag tender offer.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott was looking for a lucrative offer this offseason but is now scheduled to be a free agent again next offseason. He will be part of one of the top offenses in the NFL this season and should be a No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jul 15 1:20pm ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is not expected to agree to a long-term deal with the team before this afternoon's deadline. Prescott will play under the franchise tag this season, becoming the third quarterback to play under the tag (along with Kirk Cousins and Drew Brees). Prescott will earn $31.4 million this year before attempting negotiations again at a later date. Reports have stated that Prescott has turned down close to $100 million in guaranteed money. If he and the Cowboys can't agree to a deal next year, they'll have the option to tag him again for $37.69 million, but the two sides will likely try to work things out again before then.

Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and the team have not engaged in recent discussions, according to NFL Network's Jane Slater. Per Slater, the final offer on the table ahead of the July 15 deadline for signing franchise-tagged players to long-term deals is between $33 million and $35 million annually with over $100 million guaranteed.

From TheHuddle

Jul 14 3:13pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has no further negotiations planned with the team ahead of Wednesday, July 15's deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign a long-term contract. Prescott will play the 2020 season on the $31.4 million tag if no deal is struck.

From TheHuddle

Jul 13 10:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and the team have no scheduled talks ahead of Wednesday's deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign contract extensions. Things can change with a quick phone call, but there has not been urgency to get a deal done. It has been reported the Cowboys offered Prescott a five-year deal, but Prescott's side would prefer a four-year deal with options. Prescott is scheduled to make $31.4 million under the tag this season, but may look elsewhere if he is allowed to test the market next winter. Prescott would be just the third quarterback to play a season under the franchise tag and the previous two- Drew Brees and Kirk Cousins- signed with different teams after their seasons. Prescott's dynasty value would be less certain without a guarantee of playing in Dallas's high-octane offense.

Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and the team are reportedly 'not close' to agreeing to a contract extension as of Sunday, July 12, according to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News via a source. The two sides have until July 15 to reach a long-term agreement or Prescott will be forced to play the 2020 season under the $31.4 million franchise tag he signed recently.

From TheHuddle

Jul 12 11:03am ET

The Dallas Cowboys remain optimistic that QB Dak Prescott will accept their best contract extension offer before the NFL deadline Wednesday, July 15, at 4 p.m. ET. However, multiple league sources believe that no long-term deal will be completed by the deadline because he has already signed his franchise tag tender.

From TheHuddle

Jul 9 9:40am ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been negotiating a long-term deal with the team but the two sides still differ on the length of the contract as the extension deadline looms. The Cowboys have a contract offer on the table, but it is reportedly longer than Prescott wants. Prescott is scheduled to make $31.4 million under the franchise tag this year, but both sides have expressed desire to keep the Mississippi State Bulldog in Dallas long term. Franchise tagged players have until July 15 to work out a contract extension. Only two quarterbacks have played under the franchise tag, Drew Brees and Kirk Cousins, and both signed with new teams in their ensuing free agency which could affect Prescott's dynasty value if the sides cannot agree on a new deal by next week.

From RotoBaller

Jul 7 7:43pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has not engaged in contract talks with the team since March, according to a source Monday, July 6. If a long-term extension isn't done by July 15, Prescott will play out the 2020 season under the franchise tag.

From TheHuddle

Jul 2 3:43pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed 16 passes of at least 40 yards during the 2019 season, which led the league in the category.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott is still waiting for a long-term contract but will be the starting quarterback for at least the 2020 season. He will have one of the top receiving corps to work with this upcoming season and should be considered a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jun 23 4:13pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is just the seventh quarterback ever with at least 90 touchdown passes and 20 rushing touchdowns over a four-season span. He is the first QB to accomplish the feat in his first four seasons. He has 97 career touchdown passes and 21 rushing TDs.

Fantasy Spin: The production on the ground may not be sustainable as Prescott is paired with RB Ezekiel Elliott, who handles the bulk of all rushing work when healthy and active. The passing production should continue to rise, however, following the selection of WR CeeDee Lamb in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He joins WRs Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup and gives Prescott one of the best supporting casts in the NFL for the foreseeable future.

From TheHuddle

Jun 23 11:03am ET

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott signed the exclusive franchise tag, which was worth $31.4 million. The sides have until July 15 to sign a long-term deal.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott elevated to a top-five fantasy quarterback last season and should stand firm in that range.

From TheHuddle

Jun 22 9:33pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has thrown for 24 touchdowns outside the red zone since 2018 - the second-highest total by any quarterback in the league over that span.

From TheHuddle

Jun 22 4:40pm ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has officially signed the franchise tag, committing to stay a Cowboy for at least the 2020 season. Dak and the Cowboys will have until July 15th to work out a long-term deal, but the franchise tag at least ensures that the Dallas signal caller will report to training camp and other preseason activities on time. The tag will pay Prescott $31.4 million this season, but both sides are reportedly looking to agree on something long-term sooner than later. We know little about what the 2020 NFL season will look like, but one thing we know now is that Prescott will be the one under center whenever Week 1 comes around.

From RotoBaller

Jun 22 4:03pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott officially signed his one-year tender offer Monday, June 22. Official financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott will be the starting quarterback in Dallas for at least one more season but does have three weeks to agree to a long-term deal. He should be a No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jun 22 3:33pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is still looking for a four-year contract extension, while the Cowboys would prefer to give Prescott a five-year contract, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: The Cowboys have about three weeks to reach a long-term agreement with Prescott, and the two sides to not appear to be close to a deal at this point. Prescott will be the start for at least the 2020 season and should be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

From TheHuddle

Jun 22 1:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott signed his franchise tender, but is still seeking a long-term contract before the July 15 deadline. According to Pro Football Talk, the disagreement comes done to the length of the contract with Prescott seeking a four-year deal and the Cowboys insisting on a five-year deal. The franchise tag will pay Prescott $31.4 million in 2020 but both sides have stated all along they would like to come to an agreement to keep Prescott in Dallas long-term. Prescott was one of the best quarterbacks in fantasy last season throwing for over 4,900 yards and 30 touchdowns and will enter 2020 as a top-three option at the position.
