2019 RTSports Outlook

Roethilsberger had one of his best seasons to date, topping 5,000-passing yards for the first time in his career. He also scored a career high 37 touchdowns. He was third overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. Roethilsberger had seven three-touchdown games and eight 300-yard games. He scored a touchdown in every game. Roethlisberger has 4,000-yard seasons six of his last 10. He also has 28 or more passing touchdowns three straight and five of his last six seasons. He plays in an offense that is one of the best passing games in all of football. Roethilsberger has a great arm and is an accurate passer. He might be the best quarterback in the game at prolonging a play because of his size and strength.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: You have to worry about him slowing down at some point but last year was very encouraging. He is capable of being a top-five fantasy quarterback in this explosive offense. Expect a slight regression in numbers but not a huge drop. He can throw for around 4,700 yards, 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Ben Roethlisberger wanted to be the man in Pittsburgh and with Antonio Brown gone, he is just that. We will have to see how he likes it after this season though. Although JuJu Smith-Schuster is returning and is a rising star in the league he is still not Antonio Brown. Even if he was, it is better to have two Antonio Browns than it is to have one. Coming off a season in which he caught 111 passes for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns, he will need to be even better in 2019 if Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers want to reach their potential.James Washington had a less then stellar rookie campaign with only 16 receptions for 213 yards and bringing in Donte Moncrief from Jacksonville also does not fix the massive hole left in the offense. James Conner should be able to add to his 973 rush yards and 12 rush touchdowns this season and his 55 receptions in 2018 was a pleasant surprise from a team used to getting pass production from their backfield.Roethlisberger finished as the QB3 for fantasy last season due to his obscene pass volume, which led the league. On 675 pass attempts, Roethlisberger threw for 5,129 yards, with 34 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Without Brown expect those numbers to regress a pretty substantial amount. That leaves Roethlisberger potentially finishing closer to 4,500 yards and 26-28 touchdowns with the weapons he currently has in Pittsburgh. While these are still great numbers, they are not QB3 numbers and luckily no one is taking him as such in drafts. Currently being taken as QB17 in the middle of the 11th round, Roethlisberger is a good value in drafts if you like to wait on the position. Even with regression likely, a top-12 finish is still more than possible, so getting him as the 17th player at the position, behind a player like Kyler Murray is a bargain. A bargain you should be willing to buy in on.

With Antonio Brown now in Oakland, the Pittsburgh Steelers offense will look a lot different in 2019. JuJu Smith-Schuster will be the team's No. 1 wideout and will be targeted often by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, but behind him there are inexperienced yet intriguing options. The team thinks they have at least nine viable pass-catching options that Big Ben can use. Roethlisberger completed passes to nine receivers without Brown for two games in 2017. Donte Moncrief will be a big part of it, as will tight end Vance McDonald, who is expected to have an expanded role after catching 50 passes in 2018. Second-year wideout James Washington has plenty of upside after an up-and-down rookie year. Ryan Switzer brings versatility and quickness and Eli Rogers can beat man coverage. Pittsburgh is hoping third-round rookie Diontae Johnson can crack the lineup sooner than later. Moncrief will be an intriguing late-round fantasy option with 21 career touchdowns. He should be a big weapon for Roethlisberger in the red zone.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said Tuesday, May 21, he plans to be around more at OTAs this year in part to all the team's new faces.

Fantasy Spin: Remember the formidable offensive "B's" the Steelers featured only a few years ago? Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell and Martvis Bryant are now gone, leaving Big Ben with a new cast. He remains, though, a borderline QB1/high-end QB2.

The Pittsburgh Steelers finalized a two-year contract extension for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Wednesday, the team announced. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. He was entering the final year of a four-year, $87.6 million extension that he signed in 2015. The 37-year-old will remain a Steeler up to his 40th birthday. While Big Ben was a high-end QB1 in 2018, he could disappoint this year with both Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown leaving.

Updating an earlier report, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger agreed to a two-year extension Wednesday, April 24. Financial terms weren't disclosed, but the two years will be added on to the final year of his deal.

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is in the final stages of a contract extension that will make him one of the highest-paid players annually. Terms weren't disclosed, but it could be announced as early as Wednesday, April 24.

Fantasy Spin: Roethlisberger has lost two key weapons in Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown, and Big Ben wasn't an elite option in fantasy with them. He'll be a midrange QB1 in drafts.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is headed into the final year of his contract, and the Steelers reportedly are 'working hard' to complete a contract extension before the NFL Draft, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger's contract talks are 'still ongoing,' according to general manager Kevin Colbert. 'This is probably his last contract as an NFL player, so it's significant,' Colbert said.

Fantasy Spin: Roethlisberger is coming off of one of his most productive seasons as a passer, and even with the loss of Antonio Brown, he is still a solid bet for low-end QB1 production in 2019.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed center Maurkice Pouncey to an extension through the 2021 season on Thursday for an average of $11 million per year, making him the highest-paid center in the league. The 29-year-old has been a foundation on the team's offensive line since he was the 18th overall pick in the 2010 draft. Pouncey is a two-time first-team All-Pro and has gone to seven Pro Bowls. The move to lock Pouncey up is great news for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the running game in 2019 and beyond.

Mar 1 7:23pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has begun preliminary contract extension talks with the Steelers and could reach an agreement in the near future, according to a source. The extension is expected to run through at least the 2022 season.

Fantasy Spin: Roethlisberger likely will not have Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown next season but is still coming off one of the best seasons of his career. He has a chance to be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback next season despite the losses on offense.

From TheHuddle

Feb 21 2:10pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said he supports quarterback Ben Roethlisberger 100 percent as the team's unquestioned leader amid criticism from disgruntled receiver Antonio Brown. "I have no problem with him. He can call me out and thats fine. What he does I totally respect because Ive seen him too many times win games for us and come through in situations," Colbert said. Owner Art Rooney also said last month that they plan to sign Big Ben, 37, to a contract extension. Roethlisberger led the NFL in yards (5,129) and had a career-high 34 touchdowns, so he wasn't as washed up as most fantasy owners thought before the season. He'll still be in play as a QB1 next season, but losing Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown -- two of the best playmakers in football -- will surely hurt his overall ceiling.

Jan 24 12:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II said the team has already started talking about a contract extension with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who will be in the final year of his current deal in 2019. So, I think that Ben has some good years left. Hes still, I would say, close to being in the prime of his career and now that we see quarterbacks around the league that are playing into their 40s, I am not sure there is any reason why Ben cant play for several more years. So we are looking forward to that," Rooney said. Big Ben will be 37 in March, but he threw for a career-high 5,129 yards last season and also posted a career-high 34 touchdowns against 16 interceptions. Injuries are a concern as he ages, as well as the fact that Antonio Brown might not be with the team next year, but Roethlisberger still profiles as a sturdy QB1 for fantasy owners as long as he continues playing.

From RotoBaller

Jan 23 8:03pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has started contract extension talks with the Steelers, according to owner Art Rooney II. Rooney said he believes Roethlisberger could play for several more seasons.

Fantasy Spin: Roethlisberger recorded career-highs in yards (5,129) and touchdowns (34) this season but could lose Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown this offseason. He will still have several receivers to work with and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper fantasy leagues in 2019.
