Mullens was the top backup for the Vikings last year and played that role well. He was 21-of-25 for 224 yards and a touchdown with an interception in four games played. He should get a shot to be a top backup once again this year. Mullens has some starting experience and past success, so he has value as an NFL backup. Mullens has a strong arm and quick release. He reads defenses pretty well and does a good job of making the big play. He will force passes, though, and doesn't always make the right decisions.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Mullens has shown some fantasy promise at times but is a hard player to trust if he actually gets some starts. His numbers will be erratic.

Vikings' QB Nick Mullens scored 26.60 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 18 loss in Detroit. Mullens threw for 396 yards on 30-of-44 with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens put on a show in the Week 18 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday by going 30-for-44 for 396 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He was sacked four times for a loss of 37 yards and ran twice for eight yards. Mullens ended up being Minnesota's best option under center down the stretch after Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles, and the 28-year-old QB finished with a 67.57% completion percentage, 1,306 passing yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions in five appearances (three starts). He had 300 yards and multiple touchdowns in all three of his starts, although turnovers were clearly an issue. With Cousins' future in doubt in Minnesota, Mullens' late-season performance could at least put him in consideration for the starting job in 2024 if the Vikes move on from Cousins this offseason.

Vikings' QB Nick Mullens passed for 396 yards on 30-of-44 with two touchdowns in Sunday's game in Detroit. He did throw two interceptions in the loss.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens will make his third start over the last four weeks when he returns under center against the Detroit Lions in Week 18. Outside of Jaren Hall's ugly first half last week, Mullens has been Minnesota's go-to quarterback for the final four games of the regular season. He has a tendency to air the ball out and take risks, and while this has led to several turnovers, it also allows the Vikings to deliver big plays and score touchdowns. In Week 16 against the Lions, Mullens tossed two touchdowns and four interceptions, all while amassing 411 passing yards. From a fantasy perspective, the scores and yardage outweigh the poor ball security. The same could be true in this season-ending rematch with the Lions, whose defense has allowed the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2023. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable deploying him as a fringe QB1 option this week.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell announced that Nick Mullens will start for the team in the season finale against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Mullens started in Week 15 and 16 in losses to the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions, but rookie Jaren Hall was named QB1 for the Sunday Night Football loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 17. Hall started the game five-for-ten for 67 yards, an interception, and a lost fumble, leading to O'Connell going back to Mullens. The veteran journeyman averaged over 20 fantasy points per game in his first two starts, so he'll have DFS intrigue in the 2023 season finale.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota's QB Nick Mullens passed for a phenomenal 411 yards on 22-of-36 with two touchdowns in Sunday's game against the Lions. He did throw four interceptions in the loss. It was Mullens's 2nd consecutive 300+ yard passing game. He has averaged 357 yards passing in those games.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens will get his second straight start in Week 16 as the Vikings host the Lions. Mullens is coming off a 303-yard performance in his last start versus the Bengals, which puts him on the QB2 radar against a struggling Lions secondary. The Lions have allowed the eighth-most passing touchdowns this season, which bodes well for Mullens who had two passing touchdowns a week ago. With Justin Jefferson, T.J. Hockenson, and Jordan Addison at his disposal, the former 49er could do some damage through the air in Week 16.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed on Monday that quarterback Nick Mullens will make the start in Week 16 on Sunday against the division-rival Detroit Lions. Mullens earned a second straight start by throwing for 303 yards and two touchdowns in the 27-24 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, although he did also have two costly interceptions. The 28-year-old did enough to convince the Vikings coaching staff that he's still the better option over Joshua Dobbs under center as the team fights for a chance at the postseason. The Lions defense has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game (22.7) to opposing quarterbacks in the last five weeks, so Mullens will certainly have some streaming appeal in two-QB superflex leagues for those in need of help at the position.

Dynasty | Vikings backup quarterback Nick Mullens is expected to draw another start in week 16. Dynasty Analysis: The Vikings are still in the thick of the playoff hunt with a reported 56% playoff probability and Mullens should be under-center again when Vikings host the Lions this week. In fact, the Vikings will play the Lions in two of their last three regular season games to end the season. Mullens did throw for 303 yards in a tight loss against the Bengals but was also erratic. There's little dynasty impact here either way as Mullens remains unranked on DLF's quarterback rankings and his starts are an audition for future work.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens will pick up his second consecutive start against the Detroit Lions in Week 16, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The veteran threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns against Cincinnati on Saturday but struggled with turnovers, including one bad interception in the red zone. Mullens is probably the best passer of the quarterbacks in Minnesota, which boosts the value of Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson. He'll be a midrange QB2 against a Detroit secondary that is weak against opposing quarterbacks.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens completed 26-of-33 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns in the team's 27-24 loss to the Bengals on Saturday. Mullens turned the ball over twice with two interceptions in his first start of the season. Despite the turnovers, the former San Francisco 49er also added 10 yards on the ground in what ended up being a decent showing in terms of fantasy production. With a solid supporting cast, Mullens figures to be in the low-end QB2 discussion moving forward.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Vikings' QB Nick Mullens passed for 303 yards on 26-of-33 with two touchdowns in Saturday's game in Cincinnati. He did throw two interceptions in the loss.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens will take over as the starter in Week 15 as Joshua Dobbs heads to the bench for the Vikings. Mullens came into the game in relief of Dobbs in Week 14 as he threw for 83 yards, as the Vikings offense failed to score a touchdown en route to a 3-0 win over the Raiders. Mullens has some appeal in a matchup against the Bengals defense who have given up the sixth-most passing yards this season, as the former 49er has the supporting cast to be successful in this one. He should have Justin Jefferson, T.J. Hockenson, and Jordan Addison at his disposal, but fantasy managers shouldn't get too excited. Mullens is a QB2 option at best this week.
From RotoBaller
The Minnesota Vikings are making a change at quarterback, with Nick Mullens replacing Joshua Dobbs under center for the Week 15 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, according to sources. Mullens replaced the struggling Dobbs in the fourth quarter of Week 14's 3-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders and has 17 career NFL starts under his belt. He also knows the Vikings system and is fully healthy after being on Injured Reserve in October. The 28-year-old went 9-for-13 for 83 yards and led the Vikings on their only scoring drive of the game on Sunday. Mullens has experience, but Saturday will be his first start since 2021 and he isn't going to have much fantasy upside at all against Cincinnati on the road. At best, he'll be a low-end streamer in two-QB formats in Week 15.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens threw for 83 yards off 9-for-13 passing in the three-point win over the Raiders on Sunday. Joshua Dobbs couldn't get anything going offensively, so Mullens took over late in the contest to lead the team to a win. There's a chance the 28-year-old journeyman signal-caller will be under center for the Week 15 encounter with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, neither Mullens nor Dobbs are worth starting in any fantasy scenario, especially if wide receiver Justin Jefferson (chest) and running back Alexander Mattison (ankle) aren't healthy enough to suit up.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's Week 11 game against the Denver Broncos. Mullens has been on IR with a back issue but had his 21-day practice window opened up and will most likely be active on Sunday as Joshua Dobbs' backup. Rookie QB Jaren Hall (concussion) has been ruled out with a concussion so it would make sense to see Mullens activated this week.
