Valdes-Scantling made some big plays last year but was pretty mediocre most weeks despite getting chances to start. He had 26 receptions for 452 yards and two scores. He had two games with 99 or more yards but had fewer than 50 yards all but one other game. He has a lot of competition for targets in Green Bay and likely will rotate with a host of other receivers for the Packers. Valdes-Scantling has great size for the position and uses it well to make big plays down the field. He can get pushed around some and can struggle against press coverage. He has top speed, though, and can get by defenders in a hurry.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Valdes-Scantling has some potential, but likely will be all over the map once again this year. He will be a hard player for fantasy teams to trust. Don't expect a big jump in production this year. He could get around 35 receptions for 500 yards and a few scores.
Green Bay Packers wide receiverMarquez Valdes-Scantlingwas one of the most disappointing players in fantasy football last season. The Packers desperately need a viable receiving threat opposite ofDavante Adams, and MVS was supposed to be the man to step up. Nonetheless, even with Adams lost for four games andEquanimeous St. Brownplaced on injured reserve before the season, he fell flat on his face. He was a unanimous sleeper heading into last season and drafted as the 46th wide receiver off the board as a result. However, he finished as the WR84, with only 26 receptions for 452 yards and two touchdowns. His snap-count also decreased each week as the season went on, and he failed to be on the field for more than 37% of the snaps in any game from Week 10 on. This season, the 25-year-old faces a much tougher challenge if he wants any playing time. Junior wide receiverAllen Lazardemerged in the second half of last year,Devin Funchesswas added in free agency and St. Brown is back. At best, Valdes-Scantling will begin the seasons as the WR5 on the depth chart. The fantasy community has lost faith in the 2019 bust, as evidenced by his current ADP of WR184. That is behind players likeDante Pettis,Albert Wilson, orDaeSean Hamilton. Despite his explosive speed, he is fighting for a roster spot, let alone a place on fantasy teams. He should not be drafted in any leagues under any circumstances.

Green Bay Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling finished fourth in the league in 2019 with an average depth of target of 16.9 yards, according to Pro Football Reference's advanced receiving data.
Fantasy Spin: That's about all MVS excelled at as he only caught 26 of 56 targets for 452 yards and two TDs -- down from his rookie-year stats (38-581-2) the season prior. Devin Funchess has been added to the Pack's WR corps for 2020, so if you really want MVS this summer, he should be available on your early-season free-agent wire.
