2024 RTSports Outlook

Fournette lost out on some work to rookie Rachaad White last season, but still produced a good fantasy season because of his huge workload in the passing game. He was 13th overall in fantasy running back scoring despite having fewer than 75-rushing yards all but the first game of the season. Fournette had 73 receptions on the season. He finished with 1,191 total yards and six touchdowns. Fournette is trending the wrong way, but can be a huge asset in the passing game. He has at least 69 receptions three of four seasons. Fournette has two 1,000-yard rushing seasons for his career and more than 1,000 total yards four times. Fournette is a big back that can carry the load. He runs with a lot of power but also has the speed to make plays to the outside. Fournette doesn't have great moves in space and some injury concerns, but is a pretty complete back at this stage of his career.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Fournette isn't the same back as past years, but can still help fantasy teams. He will get his catches, just don't expect the huge reception totals of past years. He should be considered a top-30 fantasy back. He can get around 1,000 total yards, 50 catches and five or six touchdowns.

Dynasty | The Bills have released running back Leonard Fournette. Dynasty Analysis: The 28-year old Fournette struggled to find a contract this season and ends the year with just 40 rushing yards and no touchdowns in limited action for the Bills. It's fair to wonder if this is the end for the former Pro Bowler as he may find it tough to find a contract next season. Still, he's proven to be more than capable so he'll be on a short list for teams who have an injury in training camp. Fournette is more name than game at this point and will be a tough hold in dynasty leagues moving forward.

The Buffalo Bills released running back Leonard Fournette from their practice squad on Tuesday. The Bills signed Fournette for some extra RB depth late in the season, and he saw action in Weeks 16 and 18 but carried the ball just 12 times for 40 yards. With injuries mounting on the defensive side of the ball for Buffalo heading into their Divisional Round matchup this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills will focus on adding depth elsewhere besides the RB position. James Cook will remain the team's lead back this weekend against the Chiefs, with Ty Johnson and Latavius Murray continuing to provide depth behind him. Fournette is quickly approaching the end of his career and might struggle to latch on with another team for training camp this summer.

Buffalo Bills running back Leonard Fournette has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of the Week 18 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. The veteran back will play in his second game this season for the Bills. He rushed for 20 yards on five attempts during his team debut in Week 16. The expectation is that the Bills are bringing up Fournette in order to give starter James Cook a bit of a breather before the playoffs. However, fantasy managers should expect a three-back committee, so there won't be a ton of streaming value for Fournette.

Buffalo Bills running back Leonard Fournette has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The veteran back will see his first action of the season after signing with the team in October. It sounds like Fournette is going to be in the mix with Latavius Murray and James Cook in the backfield. The expectation is that Cook is still going to get the bulk of the carries. Possibly, the Bills use Fournette in short yardage situations instead of Murray. It's tough to imagine Fournette having trustworthy value in a three-man committee.

Dynasty | Leonard Fournette says he's ready and waiting for his opportunity with the Bills. Dynasty Analysis: By all reports, it appears his waiting game will continue a bit longer. The mid-season addition of Fournette made sense for all involved, but it also seemingly had another result. Starter James Cook has been running with determination and figures to continue doing so following the team's week 13 bye. With Cook, Latavius Murray and even Ty Johnson all finding productivity, Fournette's chances of being fantasy relevant in 2023 are slipping by the week. He's listed as a fading RB81.

Nov 17 12:23pm ET

Buffalo Bills RB Leonard Fournette could potentially make this team debut this week, according to comments made on Friday, Nov. 17, by head coach Sean McDermott. 'If (he's not activated from the practice squad) this week, then certainly in the weeks ahead, it's going to be a big-time consideration for us,' McDermott said.

Fantasy Spin: Fournette was signed to the practice squad on Oct. 31, so the time should be nearing for the Bills to start using him if that was the plan a few weeks ago. Buffalo has had a fair amount of success running the ball this season - averaging 4.6 yards per carry as a team - but the commitment to stick with it has often been lacking. The reason Fournette could be attractive to fantasy managers is because he is very good as a receiver and Buffalo has not shown a great deal of commitment to James Cook. Deep-league managers should continue to stash in hopes that he takes over the lead job at some point in early December.

Nov 17 12:20pm ET

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that running back Leonard Fournette has been a nice addition to the team and continues to learn the offense. McDermott said that if not this week against the New York Jets, then the weeks ahead will be a "big-time consideration" for Fournette to be called up from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster. It sounds as though Buffalo will forge forward in Week 11 with James Cook and Latavius Murray in their backfield, but Lenny could be coming to the backfield rotation sooner than later with Damien Harris (neck) still on Injured Reserve and potentially out for the rest of the year. It remains to be seen how much of a role the 28-year-old Fournette will have with the Bills, but he's likely to be used mostly in short-yardage and goal-line situations.

Buffalo Bills running back Leonard Fournette will not be elevated from the practice squad ahead of the Week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 28-year-old was recently signed by the Bills after being a free agent for the first half of the season. It's not shocking to see that Fournette isn't ready to play quite yet. The expectation is that he'll be involved next week. His presence could threaten the fantasy value of both Latavius Murray and James Cook. However, Cook still gets enough involvement in the passing game that his fantasy value should be fine. Fournette is probably worth stashing in deeper leagues.

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Leonard Fournette (Buccaneers) will be signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Oct 30 2:33pm ET

Free-agent RB Leonard Fournette (Buccaneers) is expected to sign with the Buffalo Bills, pending a physical, according to sources Monday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Spin: There has been some interest from Buffalo in signing Fournette. With James Cook leading the backfield, it isn't clear what the split would look like if and when Fournette signs his deal. He could take away some early-down and short-yardage work so this will be something managers need to keep an eye on.

Dynasty | The Bills are expected to sign running back Leonard Fournette following a physical on Monday. Dynasty Analysis: Well, that should end the "Derrick Henry is going to Buffalo" talk. Fournette should help take the place of Damien Harris, who is still recovering from a scary neck injury suffered a couple of weeks ago. The addition of Fournette could eat into the value of James Cook, who has been fine this year but far from a difference maker. As for Fournette, he should give the Bills a goal-line and short yardage back to utilize and also offer some protection behind Cook, who should remain the de-facto starter in what looks like more of a committee. Fournette has also shown much more ability in the passing game in recent years and could be utilized out of the backfield that way moving forward. He comes in as our RB80 and could rise depending on how much the Bills use him.

Dynasty | The Bills are reportedly signing Leonard Fournette pending him passing a physical. Dynasty Analysis: Cook has been fine this year with 486 rushing yards, 18 catches, 192 receiving yards and two scores through eight games. Still, he hasn't taken the huge leap forward many dynasty owners were hoping for this year and simply didn't carve out a role as a true featured back. With Fournette in tow, he's likely going to lose at least a handful of touches moving forward and while he should remain the starter, his weekly production could take a bit of a hit. His ranking of RB16 is sure to move down a touch, even with Fournette in Buffalo just for the short-term.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Oct 30 2:10pm ET

The Buffalo Bills are signing free-agent running back Leonard Fournette to their practice squad on Monday, pending a physical. Fournette will ramp up on the practice squad, but he should eventually join the active roster and see carries alongside James Cook and Latavius Murray with Damien Harris (concussion) on Injured Reserve. Lombardi Lenny had almost 1,200 all-purpose yards, including a career-high 523 receiving yards, and six touchdowns last year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fournette only averaged 3.5 yards on the ground on 189 carries in 2022, but he could be a touchdown-dependent flex play in deeper leagues in a strong Bills offense in the second half of the season. The addition of Fournette is more bad news for Cook, who has been a big disappointment this year.

Dynasty | Leonard Fournette is drawing interest from multiple teams but is in no hurry to sign Dynasty Analysis: He's reportedly in good shape and simply biding his time to see which team has the greatest chance to reach the Super Bowl. Now 28, Fournette could still be a valuable addition and it seems Buffalo has the greatest interest and need. He would fit in immediately as a co-starter alongside James Cook though Latavius Murray also remains in the mix. It's hard to imagine the veteran in a more appealing location than with the Bills and it will be no surprise should he sign within the next week or two. He's listed as DLF's RB83 and could be a value-on addition for competitive dynasty teams.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Oct 17 12:30pm ET

Free-agent running back Leonard Fournette has interest from multiple teams, but he isn't visiting with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday, as was previously reported on Monday evening. Fournette is in great shape and will be ready to help a team out down the stretch. The Bills saw Damien Harris (concussion, neck) taken off the field in an ambulance on Sunday night, so they could use some help in the backfield behind James Cook and Latavius Murray, but apparently they won't be visiting with Lenny just yet. The Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions could be in the market for Fournette after suffering injuries to their backfield this past weekend as well. Fantasy managers in desperate need of RB help in deeper leagues may want to consider stashing Fournette now.
