2019 RTSports Outlook

Amendola had his usual season with the Dolphins, his first with the team. He had very similar numbers to past years, catching 59 passes for 575 yards and a touchdown. Amendola has at least 59 receptions three of four seasons. He is a solid slot receiver, doing a good job of catch-ing passes and moving the chains. Expect more of the same from him this year with the Lions. Amendola has played a full season just twice during his career and his career high in yards is 689. Amendola lacks size, but has good quickness and great hands. He runs good routes and is tough as nails for a player of his size. Amendola just moves the chains and has a knack for the extremely tough catch. Fantasy Outlook: Amendola isn't a very exciting fantasy play but can be worth a spot start for fantasy teams. He'll get his catches on a weekly basis. Expect around 55 receptions for 550 yards and a few scores. A move to the Lions won't mean a sudden jump in production for Amendola.

RotoBaller's Outlook

The 11-year veteran won a couple Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and has been one of the better-known slot receivers in the NFL over the past decade, but the truth is that he has offered little to fantasy football players. Amendola has never topped the 700-yard plateau in any single season and has averaged a paltry two touchdowns per year during his career. The one time Amendola was a huge help for fantasy players was if they owned him in playoff leagues during his last season with the Patriots in 2017, when he hauled in 26 Tom Brady passes for 348 yards and two touchdowns over a three-game span. Amendola signed a one-year, $4.5 million deal with Detroit to serve as the Lions starting slot receiver while Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. man the outside receiver positions. It is highly doubtful this late in this career and in this situation that Amendola will put up career numbers and be a fantasy godsend, but he should be able to catch 50 passes for the seventh time in his career and be used sparingly as a spot starter in deep PPR leagues. Amendola is more valuable to NFL teams than he is to fantasy teams.

Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn admitted that he's open to trading the No. 8 pick of the draft in order to move down within the first round. "It's the best way to build your roster the right way," Quinn said on the RapSheet and Friends podcast. "No. 8, I think there's a number of players I'd like at that spot at this point." The Lions have nine picks in this year's draft and could look to add to the receiver position despite adding Danny Amendola and Tommylee Lewis in free agency.

The Detroit Lions and free-agent wide receiver Danny Amendola (Dolphins) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with a guaranteed base of $4.5 million, according to a source. The deal is incentive-laden, and could be worth as much as $5.75 million, based likely on health and production. The 33-year-old receiver lands with his fourth NFL organization. He posted just 59 grabs for 575 yards and a touchdown in 15 games with the Dolphins last season, and his 9.7 yards per catch were his worst since 2014 in New England. He is still worth a look as a WR4 or WR5 in PPR fantasy leagues with 12 or more teams.

Free-agent WR Danny Amendola (Dolphins) agreed to a one-year deal worth as much as $5.75 million with the Detroit Lions Monday, March 11.

Fantasy Spin: Amendola lands in a spot where he might pose WR5 value, but he's a wildly inconsistent fantasy asset.

The Miami Dolphins released wide receiver Danny Amendola on Friday, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 33-year-old veteran lasted just one year in Miami and caught 59 passes for 575 yards and one touchdown in 15 games. Miami will save $6 million by releasing Amendola, and he won't count for anything on the salary cap in 2019. With the Dolphins also likely to move on from Devante Parker this year, the Dolphins will need to build around Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson as their top two receivers. Wilson has the potential to be a PPR beast in 2019.

Free-agent WR Danny Amendola (Dolphins) is believed to be interested in signing with the New England Patriots this offseason, according to The Athletic's Jeff Howe.

Fantasy Spin: Amendola played with the Patriots for several seasons before he decided to sign with the Miami Dolphins, so he is familiar with the Patriots. He would be a No. 3 or No. 4 fantasy receiver next season if he joins New England.

Mar 8 4:13pm ET

Miami Dolphins WR Danny Amendola was released Friday, March 8, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Amendola is coming off a decent 2018 season with 575 yards and one touchdown in 15 games. He should receive interest from teams looking for a slot receiver and could be a late-round option in point-per-reception leagues.

From TheHuddle

Feb 14 11:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins WR Danny Amendola could fill the slot receiver role for the Detroit Lions in 2019 because of his connection to head coach Matt Patricia, in the opinion of Bill Barnwell of ESPN.com.

From TheHuddle

Feb 8 1:53pm ET

Miami Dolphins WR Danny Amendola may be released in Miami due to his $6 million salary, and a return to the New England Patriots would be a likely destination if that happens.

Fantasy Spin: Amendola did lead the team in targets (79), receptions (59) and receiving yards (575) this past season after coming over from the Patriots, but the Dolphins appear ready to tear things down and rebuild, so Amendola indeed might be looking for work.
