Moss took a step backwards last year. He was even a healthy scratch a few games, which doesn't bode well for his future, especially with Devin Singletary playing so well late in the year for the Bills. Moss had double-digit carries three times, but not once after Week 5. He had just a carry in the playoffs for the Bills. Moss is likely No. 3 on the depth chart for the Bills again this year. Moss isn't a speed back but a good one-cut runner that can get downfield in a hurry. He is tough to bring down because of his size and ability to take a hit. He does lack a little top-end speed, though, and needs work catching the ball.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Moss is not a very exciting fantasy back. He could have a harder time finding the field this year. He might get around 400 total yards and a few scores.
Buffalo Bills running back Zack Moss has been a mammoth disappointment throughout his time in Buffalo, and the team has made it clear that he is not in their future plans. Last season, Moss was a healthy scratch for Week 1 which led fantasy managers to panic, only to see him activated in Week 2 and average 12.6 carries between Weeks 3-5. It seemed as though Moss was back in the fold, however, our early concerns were quickly proven true as he never saw double digit carries again, and was a healthy scratch in three of Buffalo's last six games of the fantasy season. As if the late season healthy scratches were not enough to dissuade you from drafting Moss, his lone carry for zero yards in the NFL Playoffs should be all she wrote. Devin Singletary has a firm grasp on the Bills' lead-back role after he went on a late-season tear and scored nine touchdowns in his final six games, including the NFL Playoffs. Additionally, Buffalo drafted running back James Cook in second round of the NFL Draft, and he is expected to handle the majority of the passing-down work, leaving Moss as a bench fodder depth piece. Absent a pre-season injury to Singletary, the former Ute should be left to the fates of the waiver wire.

Buffalo Bills running back Zack Moss has shown promise in short-yardage situations during training camp. Rookie James Cook has thrived as a pass-catcher. Yet, Moss has reportedly displayed "good vision and physicality," so there is a chance he may get some touches at the goal line this season. Nonetheless, although the 24-year-old should have some decent showings in 2022-23, his place on the depth chart behind Cook and Devin Singletary likely won't allow him to be a consistent fantasy producer. However, Moss does have insurance policy upside and will be a streaming option if Singletary or Cook misses time this year.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills running back Devin Singletary is in line to get a significant portion of the carries this year, but rookie James Cook and 2020 third-rounder Zack Moss are both trending toward having roles in the offense in 2022. The breakdown of RB touches will be even more difficult to predict this year under new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Singletary should be expected to lead the group this year, and Cook is likely to contribute as both a rusher and receiver. Moss has been looking good early in training camp, and an ankle injury after his rookie season may have led to his disappointing 2021 campaign. Despite the positive reports out of camp for the 24-year-old, he's still currently third on the RB depth chart behind Singletary and Moss and should be avoided in 12-team leagues.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills running back Zack Moss had a chance to take control of the backfield last year, but instead he allowed Devin Singletary to become the lead back. Moss struggled with his reads at the line of scrimmage and failed to maximize his opportunities. He's also more of a power back, so there may be a clash between principle with more athletic offensive linemen this season and Moss' skill set. With rookie James Cook now in the fold, Moss is third on the depth chart, and a trade shouldn't be ruled out if he doesn't perform well in training camp. Contributing on special teams would be a plus towards roster security, and The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia thinks Moss will be on the final roster, regardless of his summer performance. Moss' disappointing 2021 season and the addition of Cook put him off the fantasy radar in standard-sized leagues this year.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills running back Duke Johnson's roster security likely depends on how Zack Moss plays this summer at training camp, but Johnson's experience and relative success in the NFL could help him stick if Moss falters. Johnson had two 100-yard games with the Miami Dolphins last year and offers more explosiveness in the receiving game than Moss. He'll also turn 29 in September, but Moss is still young and has two years left on his rookie deal. The odds are in favor of Moss, but Johnson has a chance if general manager Brandon Beane decides to trade Moss this summer. If Moss makes the team, Johnson will be expendable, but there could be a spot on the practice squad for Johnson.
