The Detroit Lions agreed to a three-year, $13.05 million deal with former Chicago Bears quarterback Chase Daniel on Tuesday, according to a source. The deal includes a voidable clause. Daniel spent the last two years in Chicago, playing in eight games behind Mitch Trubisky. He's also played with the Saints, Chiefs and Eagles, but now he'll head to Detroit and back up Matthew Stafford, who missed considerable time with a back injury in 2019. Daniel would only become a low-end QB2 in fantasy if Stafford misses any more time due to injury.
Chicago Bears impending free-agent QB Chase Daniel agreed to a three-year, $13.05 million deal with the Detroit Lions Tuesday, March 17. The deal includes a voidable clause.
Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (hip) suffered a right hip pointer when he was sacked at the end of the second quarter in Week 11 against the Los Angeles Rams, according to head coach Matt Nagy. Trubisky was pulled from the game late in favor of Chase Daniel, but Nagy insisted the move was made due to the injury. 'Every decision that was made, it had zero to do with his play. It was completely based off his injury and where he was at,' Nagy said.
Fantasy Spin: Trubisky was not particularly good again in Week 11 even before the injury. His play across the board has deteriorated from last year, and one of the biggest differences in his game in 2019 is how little he has scrambled (and how ineffective he has been at doing it). Trubisky has two good upcoming matchups against the New York Giants and Detroit Lions, but it will be difficult for owners to start him in fantasy at any point the rest of the way.
