Akins had another solid season as the backup for the Texans, getting a few starts along the way. He had 37 receptions, giving him 35-plus catches three of four seasons. He scored a career-high five touchdowns last year and was 18th overall in fantasy tight end scoring. He signed with the Browns this offseason to take over as the top backup to David Njoku. Akins is a good athlete that plays more like a receiver than tight end. Akins isn't much of a blocker, though, so using him on three downs isn't likely. He remains more of a situational player.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Akins will get a few weekly chances but probably not enough to help many fantasy teams, especially in more of a backup role this year with the Browns. He will be very mediocre most weeks. Akins could get around 25 receptions for 300 yards and a few scores.
